Chapter 93

Book:My Stepfather's Mate Published:2025-4-2

Aileen
Rosalia checked her phone and picked up the call.
“Hello? Aileen?” she sounded very puzzled by my call.
“Hi, Rosalia, where are you now?”
“Me? I’m….” she glanced at the Principal. “I’m at the cafeteria, why?”
Lying straight in the face? Great, great.
“We have a class together next, are you sure you don’t want to attend it?”
“Class? Uh…. it’s not that important. You can go on your own.”
Girl, how am I even supposed to go when you are standing like that?
“But, I thought”
The principal tried to leave but she grabbed him by the tie, keeping him in place.
Damn, that’s bold. She knows her priority.
“Well, I’m busy now. So, see you later,” she said, about to hang up on me.
“What? No, I mean listen to”
“Do you have something else to say?”
“Uh…that’s….” nothing is coming to my mind. What should I say to her?
Come on!
The principal tried to convince her, but she didn’t let go of his tie and kept looking at him straight in the eye.
It was an intense contact that could be felt even from yards apart.
They have good chemistry. Why are they keeping their relationship a secret?
She ended the call and pulled him into a passionate kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck.
I could feel my cheeks burning red seeing them in action. Girl, not here. What if anyone sees you?
And aren’tsecurity cameras supposed to be all over the campus? What if you get caught?
And they can do this privately at home too. Then, why dare you do it here?
I don’t understand. Someone, stop them. I covered my eyes with my hands while looking out to see if anyone was coming behind me.
Suddenly when I looked away, I saw Skylar in the scene out of nowhere.
Rosalia and the principal stood in front of each other with Skylar between them.
Where did he come from anyway?
He said something and the principal lowered his gaze, looking a bit ashamed.
Rosalia was the one who was arguing in his stead. Even though I couldn’t hear what they were talking about, I could tell she was agitated.
Just what is the connection between the three of them? Is he opposing against their affair or what?
But, why would he do that? He’s her ex, right?
Nothing is making any sense to me now.
Skylar said something that made her so angry that she raised her hand against him.
But, Skylar caught it before it had reached him.
He looked her dead in the eyes.
Rosalia looked at him with anger in her eyes. The principal also said something but it only sounded like a whisper.
Skylar said nothing in response, but instead, he wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her close, connecting their lips together.
What on earth is happening here? I thought he was over her. Then, why’s he kissing her?
She tried to push him away, but he held onto her other hand, keeping her in place.
The principal stood still, but a second later he confronted them and tried to pull Skylar away from her.
Skylar broke the kiss a second later, looking at the principal dead in the eyes.
He said something then looked back at Rosalia and grabbed onto her hand, dragging her away from there with him.
Did I just watch a drama unfold before my eyes right now? I think I did.
But, the question still remains. What just happened right now?
I looked at the principal who stood still watching them go. I could feel a sense of loss surging with me seeing his reaction.
Is he…. feeling bad he kissed her in front of him? He must be jealous. But, why did Skylar do that?
I was so much lost in my thoughts that I lost track of time.
When I checked the time, the class was half over. So, there was no point in me going.
I decided to kill my time in the library before going to see Skylar’s match in the afternoon.
I was going through my books, and suddenly that scene appeared in my mind.
When I saw her kissing the professor and Skylar kissing Rosalia.
It must be a love triangle. I can’t see it in other way, otherwise.
But, why are they keeping it a secret from me when I’m such a good friend to them?
During lunch break, I went to the hall where the match was taking place.
Unexpectedly, when I walked through the door, I thought there wouldn’t have been any audience. But, to my surprise, I was wrong.
The seating area was filled with people, as if half of the college was present just to see the match.
Though, most of them were girls there were a good number of guys as well.
When I looked closely, I could see two of our professors out at the front standing too.
Don’t they have anything better to do than just seeing his match?
Is everyone in the college his fan? Except for me?
I was feeling overwhelmed by the crowd, so at one point I decided to go back.
He told me to watch his game personally, I can’t refuse his request like that. It would be rude.
Stop being a chicken, Aileen. You aren’t a scaredy cat.
I mustered up the courage and walked steadily towards the seating area to find an empty seat to sit or stand. Unable to find a spot, I went to the guys’ section. Cause, I don’t get along with the girls in my class that much.
Seeing me there, I could feel them whispering something among themselves. Not that I cared anyway.
I’m here for Skylar. I’ll do my job and leave, yeah.
The game began in a few minutes. Two guys beside me discussed about his opponent team from a different college.
Skylar appeared with his team members and the girls went crazy to see him, yelling his name.
I wasn’t his fangirl, but I did wave at him a little even though I bet he couldn’t see me from that far.
The game began and everyone watched intensely. But, I was wondering about the scene from the morning. I’m so curious, I can’t describe it in words.
A few minutes into the game, the opponent was taking the lead.
I was bored and looked around only to see Rosalia standing at the front watching. But she hardly looked interested in the game.
Did she come here on her own? Or did he tell her to come? I can only think of the latter.
But, still! Girl, you are playing with both of their hearts. It doesn’t work that way, got it?
My phone beeped a minute later, and I saw Dave’s message.
“I didn’t check up on you earlier, but did you manage to reach college on time?”
Is this really the time for you to check up on me? What were you doing when I left home?
“Yes, I arrived on time. No worries.”
He texted back. “Good to hear that. Do you want me to pick you up on the way?”
“No, I’ll go back on my own. But, you can come unless you are busy”
“Oh sorry, I’ll be home late. I’ll send the driver to pick you up.” He replied before I could complete the text and send the message.
I clutched onto the phone tightly, feeling a bit disappointed.
“Oh, no. there’s no need to. I’ll tell him myself. You rest assured. Bye, see you at home.”
“Yeah, bye.”
You stupid, do you even realize how I’m feeling at the moment? I was actually feeling a bit happy thinking you were coming to pick me up.
And had to ruin my mood the next second.
If you can’t cheer me up, don’t make me angry. It should be my mantra for the month.
I heaved a sigh, put aside my phone, and watched the game. Even though Skylar’s team was on the verge of losing, he saved the day by earning the most scores for the team.
And after the fabulous victory, everyone cheered for him. I also clapped for their victory.
When the team wasaetting afrommedal by the teachers I saw him smiling towards me while holding the medal in my direction.
Can he see me from here? Among the crowd? But, why would he do that? Rosalia is…. right there.
Why for me and not for her? I don’t understand.
Rosalia went to see him after the award ceremony. She hugged him and shook hands.
The principal appeared after her and shook his hands after saying words of encouragement to him and the team.
I can’t believe how he’s keeping a still face after what Skylar did to his girl.
He seriously has patience.
After a few photograph sessions with the team members and the fangirls, he went to change.
I stood outside the changing room so I could congratulate him on the victory and tell him about his performance.
If anyone sees me, will they think I’m a creep?
Should I wait somewhere else?
Just when I was about to flee away, I heard someone call behind me.
“Where are you going?”
I stopped in my tracks, thinking that I had been discovered.
I turned around slowly to see a boy standing who wasn’t Skylar unfortunately.
He was a brunette with a chiseled jaw.
I smiled at him awkwardly.
“Hello…” I managed to say aloud.
His eyes widened for a minute before he moved closer to me.
“I think I’ve seen you somewhere. Are you the Alpha’s daughter?” he asked, lifting my face by the chin.
I don’t mind answering your question but don’t touch me without my permission. You are a stranger to me.
“Yes, I’m the Alpha’s daughter,” I replied, pushing his hand away. “But, that’s not my entire identity. I also have a name, it’s Aileen.”
He was a bit shaken up to see my reaction, but he smirked a second later.
“Oh? Do you have a name? And here I thought you only lived under the shadows of your dad only. Guess, I was wrong. This kitten surely is feisty. Not the daddy’s princess I thought.”
