Aileen
“Uh…yeah. She’s better now. Worst time to get sick too. And our friends or relatives don’t live nearby. I’m the only one who can be there for her. So, I have to stick around.”
“Can understand. You are the best brother. You should get an award for it.”
He laughed. “You always manage to say something funny. Your humor is top-notch.”
“Hey, I was being serious!”
We managed to arrive at college in a short span of time. After dropping me we parted ways.
I waved at him before heading inside.
On my way, suddenly a hand wrapped around my shoulder from behind.
I was startled to see Skylar beside me.
“Morning.” He greeted me with a cheeky smile.
“Morning, aren’t you early? I hardly get to see you past the 3rd class.”
“It’s already a miracle you get to see me in class. You are asking for too much now.”
“Oh, am I now?”
“Yeah. Your friend or acquaintance was here to drop you off today as well, it seems,” he remarks. “And he looks damn good as always. Are you sure, he doesn’t have a girlfriend yet?”
“So, you saw him? And no. He’s not dating anyone from as much as I know.”
“Oh…. you seem to know too much about him. So, who is he exactly, Mr. goody-good shoes?”
I sighed, “My dad’s Beta, Marshall.”
“Oh, your dad’s Beta? No wonder I get to see him around you so much. Does he work out a lot? He’s fit.”
“Yeah, has a strict fitness routine. I bet you can hardly catch up with it.” I mumbled slowly.
I suddenly recalled how Skylar fought with those guys from yesterday.
He handled them so professionally and looked cool as well.
“Or maybe you can?”
“So, he has a strict fitness routine, and is also single? Is he planning to become a mountain hermit or what?” he comments with a chuckle.
“Regardless of what you say about him, he’s actually nice you know?” I replied, “He always comes to help whenever I need him. Even though he’s serving my father, he’s always dutiful towards my Mom and me as well. On top of that, he’s a good brother.”
“Oh? Does he have siblings too? A brother?”
“No, he has a sister. Her name is Becky and she goes to this college as well.”
“Becky? How does she look?” he asked, excitedly, “She must be as much pretty as her brother is, I bet.”
“Uh…. I haven’t seen her yet. She hardly comes to college.”
“Oh…that’s a bummer. Anyway, are you up to seeing our Tennis practice during lunchtime?”
“Tennis practice? Do you play tennis? Since when?”
He pulled at my cheeks. “Come on, you know I’m popular in college. But, don’t know why?”
“Huh? Stop pulling, it hurts!”
“I’m not popular for my looks only. I also have a life outside of it,” he replied, “I’m the captain of our college Tennis club. Last year, I competed at the national level, representing my high school team. Don’t underestimate me so much, will you?”
“What? Really?”
“Yeah! If you doubt me, ask others. Anyone can confirm it.”
“So, you are not just a spoiled rich brat of a rich family only? You have talents?” I gasped in surprise.
But he looked at me with a frown. “You really think that I just live under the shadows of my family name and fame only? I’m not a useless coward. Come on!”
“Oh…uh, I’m sorry. I wasn’t trying to insult you or anything like that,” I replied, “It’s just…. it’s hard to imagine what you are describing yourself as. That’s all. Please forgive me.”
He sighed, “It’s okay. I know you don’t take me seriously. So, compensate for hurting my feelings by coming to see my match during lunchtime. Don’t be late!”
“But”
“I’m not taking no for an answer,” he added before fleeing out of there.
I stood there, trying to figure out whether I should go or not. After attending two classes straight, I was ready for a break. I kept checking the time to see when it would be time for lunch.
I wasn’t planning to go at first, but I made up my mind to go see him. I’ll keep my promise.
Suddenly, I came across Rosalia when I turned the corner towards the classroom.
The principal stood there and Rosalia hugged him from behind, holding him in place.
I quickly halted in my tracks and hid behind the hall.
I peeked at them from a distance, and the Principal was trying to get her hands off his body.
He had a grim expression on his face, and a little bit guilty at the same time.
What are they doing in this place? It’s for anyone to discover them here. Don’t they know that?
And I really don’t understand her. Stop flirting wherever you can, please!
They didn’t seem to be moving any minute, so I just dialed her number and called while keeping my eyes on them.
Her phone rang, and she removed her hands from his body and searched for it in her bag.
Got you now.
