He paused for a second before replying, “Uh…. if I say yes, will you believe me?”
“What? Really? But, I was standing so far! How could you see me?!”
“I know!” he interrupted, “I didn’t expect that either. But, you were literally the only woman standing among the yelling boys so it was easy to notice you.”
“Oh….” I forgot about it. So, that’s how he caught me.
“I totally thought you stood there so it would be easy to spot you,” he asserted.
“Uh, no…. I couldn’t find any spot on the other side that’s why I went there.”
“As expected,” he laughed. “So, did you have lunch yet?”
“Um…. no? I came here straight so I wouldn’t miss the match. So, didn’t have the chance to eat yet.”
“I knew. Well, I’m hungry also. Do you wanna grab a bite together?”
“Do you even have to ask? I’m dying of hunger!” I replied, and we made our way towards the cafeteria.
When we sat down to eat, he talked about how the game went and I was listening to him carefully.
But, at that moment suddenly I recalled seeing him with Rosalia and that made me curious.
“Hm…. Rosalia also came to see your game. But, I couldn’t see her in any of the classes. Did you tell her to come as well?” I asked.
He stopped eating hearing my question, and looking at me a bit puzzled.
What? Did I ask anything weird?
“Uh…. no. I didn’t exactly tell her to come,” he replied. “I only informed about the game. It was solely up to her whether she wanted to come or not. I only asked you to come, personally.”
“I…see…”
Come on man. You kissed her in front of her lover and she also went to attend your game and stayed till the end to congratulate you.
How come you didn’t invite her to see the game like you did to me? Does that even make any sense?
It does not! When she even hugged you in front of others.
What are you even trying to show here? That you don’t have any feelings towards her or something?
This doesn’t work this way, alright?
What is wrong with people these days? Denying their feelings out in the daylight when you clearly love each other?
But, wait, if they love each other, what happens to the Principal? Oh no, he’s going to be left alone then.
No, that sounds too sad. But, at the end of the day, there’s only one Rosalia and two guys. How can she choose one among them when both of them love her clearly?
I’m so confused. My head isn’t working anymore.
“Aileen, eat your food. Lunchtime is going to be over soon!” Skylar mentioned, tapping on my shoulder.
“Oh-uh…I’m eating….”
How do I get the information out of him, when he doesn’t want to talk about it freely with me?
When we were getting up and ready to leave, he turned to me, “Oh, and Aileen. I forgot to ask you something.”
“What?”
“I’m having a party at my house tomorrow to celebrate our victory in competing in the nationals. I’m calling all my friends. So, you’ll be invited as well. Please say, you are coming?”
“A party?”
Should I say yes without getting Dave or Mom’s permission? Does that sound alright?
“What are you thinking? Tell me, you are coming!” he pleaded. “It won’t be fun without you.”
“Uh…. at what time are you hosting it? I’ll try to come after asking my parents about it.”
“From 7 p. m. And you are allowed to leave at any time you want to. But, do you have to ask for your parents’ permission even at this age? I mean, you are an adult now, aren’t you?”
He made me sound stupid about asking for my parent’s permission.
But, I used to do it all the time even when I was living with Mom. So, how can I leave the habit any minute now?
And Dave is so much overprotective regarding me, that I don’t think he’s going to allow me to go in the first place.
But, if I say he’s not giving permission, it’s going to look like I’m a little protected by her parents with no will of her own.
What should I do?
At the end of the day, I’m going to be scolded by Dave for going and Skylar is going to think me childish if I won’t go.
I’m stuck!
“Uh, Aileen, are you alright?” Skylar asked, snapping me back to reality.
“Oh, uh…um…I’ll try. I’ll try to come. Tomorrow evening, right?”
“Uh, yup. And you can expect everyone from our class to be there. So, it’s going to be a good chance for you to bond as well with everyone. That’s why I don’t want to leave you out at all. Please come.” He said, patting on my shoulder.
“I’ll try, don’t worry.” I forced a smile.
“Good, see you tomorrow evening then. I don’t have any classes after this so I’ll be leaving now. Bye.” He waved at me before leaving.
“Bye, yeah see you tomorrow.” I waved back, watching him leave.
Despite how calm I looked, only I knew how much of a crisis I was going through at the moment.
How am I going to solve this mess?
