“Let’s go, I’m done as well,” I replied, standing up after her.
“It’s okay, you can sit down,” she replied making me confused.
“What? Why would I sit down? I’m going to drop you off at your college, or you might be late.”
“No, you don’t need to do that today,” she asserted, calmly.
“Then, how will you get to college?” Emilia inquired. “You can’t go by foot, can you?”
“No, I’m not walking all the way. Marshall is coming to pick me up,” she replied while looking in my direction.
What? Marshall is coming? But why?”
“I always drop you at college. Then, why is he coming today?” I lashed out unable to keep my cool.
“Just because you do it every day doesn’t mean you have to do it today as well,” Aileen replied in a nonchalant tone. “He said he was driving past our house and he was going to the office as well so he’ll drop me off at college on the way. That’s all.”
I can’t believe how simple she made it sound like. She’s doing this to avoid me. It’s not about Marshall. He’s just an excuse.
But still, how can you pick him over me?
“There’s no need for him to do that,” I replied sternly. “Tell him to go to the office directly. I’ll drop you.”
“I’m going to college in Marshall’s car. And that’s decided. You can’t change my decision,” Aileen replied with a pretentious smile.
My brows twitched in irritation.
“Why the hell are you being so stubborn over such a small matter?” I yelled, grabbing her by the arm, “I told you I’ll drop you at college. Why don’t you listen to me?”
“Cause, I don’t want to!” she retorted, snatching away her hand the very minute. “I said I’m going to college with Marshall. Why can’t you just accept it?”
She was glaring at me, and I could tell how much serious she was. Her eyes glowed red in anger.
But, I’m not the one who’s giving up so easily. I won’t let you avoid me so easily.
“Dave, why don’t you let her go with Marshall if she’s insisting so much?” Emilia comments, standing up. “And Aileen, please don’t yell at him like that. After all, he’s your dad. Don’t raise your voice against your parents or the elderly. I never taught you that.”
Aileen didn’t look guilty, instead, she became even more upset after hearing that.
“I’m sorry Mom. But!” she raised her head to look at me. “I don’t see the harm in Marshall dropping me at college. Do you? It’s the same whether he drops me or Marshall, right? Then, why does he have so much problem with Marshall?”
She’s doing this on purpose, for sure! Because I can’t yell out the truth in front of Emilia. She’s doing this to torture me.
“Well, if you ask me, I can’t the problem as well,” Emilia replied, walking over to my side, “Dave, let her go with Marshall. It’s the same whether he drops her or you. And she’ll be safe with him as well. So, you don’t need to worry. Let her go. He’s our family anyway!”
“You don’t understand. It’s not about Marshall! It’s”
“If I remember correctly, it was Marshall who came to pick me up from college yesterday and a few days ago as well. Then, why can’t he drop me at college? What’s the problem? I don’t understand!” Aileen interrupted bitterly. “Does he have any problem with Marshall suddenly that he’s not telling us about? I don’t see any other reason or else.”
The only reason I don’t want you to go with him is because I wanted to talk with you in private but that’s not happening anytime soon all thanks to you.
Thank you, for ruining this opportunity for me!
“Dave, is Aileen telling the truth? Do you have a problem with Marshall? Please tell us if that’s the case.” Emilia pleaded, placing her hand on my shoulder. “We’ll sort it out together.”
“I appreciate your concern, but that’s not true at all. I don’t have any problem with Marshall. I just don’t want her to go”
“Sorry to make you wait, Aileen,” Marshall’s voice barged into our conversation making me pause.
He stood near the door and seeing us he strolled over to our side.
“Good morning Master and Mistress,” he greeted with a smile.
Good timing! Or should I say? Just perfect timing it seems?
“Uh, Good morning Marshall, you”
“I’m late, save the small talk,” Aileen stated, coiling her hand around Marshall’s arm. I was shocked by her actions. How can she do this in front of me, her mate?
“Bye Mom, see you later. Bye!” she waved at us before dragging him away from our sight towards the door. And he obeyed happily.
