Aileen
I need to get out of here! As fast as possible! I won’t listen to Dave! He cannot order me around after ignoring all my texts and calls yesterday.
I dragged Marshall outside and didn’t let go of his hand until we arrived in front of his
“Aileen, why did you drag me out like that? I didn’t even talk with the Alpha properly. He would find me rude, wouldn’t he?” Marshall asked, looking at me.
“He won’t,” I replied, glancing at him. “Now open the door. How long do you plan to keep me standing?”
“Uh, sorry,” he opened the door and I sat at the front.
Within a few minutes, the car drove out of the house premises. I peeked outside through the window but didn’t see anyone.
Dave, didn’t come outside to see me, did he?
Why would he even come? He doesn’t have the guts to face me, does he? Unless he realizes what mistake he has made, I won’t talk to him normally.
“So, Aileen, why did you tell me to come pick you up at this time?” he asked while driving. “It’s the Alpha who drops you off at college every day, doesn’t he? Then, why the sudden change? Any special reason?”
I sighed, leaning against the seat.
“Not exactly, just felt like it.”
“Felt like it? Are you someone who does things at whim?”
“Yeah, sometimes. But why are you asking me so many questions? Do you hate I called you early in the morning to babysit me?”
“What? No! I was just asking. Why would I hate it?”
“That’s good. But, what were you doing when I called you? Your phone rang 4 times before you finally picked up. Where do you keep your phone? In the basement or something?”
He chuckled in response. “No, no. I usually don’t stay near my phone in the morning.”
I looked at him puzzled. “And why’s that?”
“Well, I wake up early and after turning off the alarm I go fresh up and usually do some light exercises and go for a run before going to the office. And on days I don’t feel like going outside, I like to train at home. Then take a shower and meditate for 30 minutes. It’s my daily routine.”
“Oh…. I see…..”
I didn’t notice it before but he does have a good body. I can see his biceps through the cream-colored shirt he’s wearing right now. And his stomach looks toned as well with no visible signs of belly fat.
It’s all because he trains his body and keeps it fit. And he’s not that bad-looking as well. If I had to rate him on a scale of 10 he’ll be 8. 9 for sure.
If there was any other girl in my place she would definitely fall for him by now.
“Is there something on my face? You are looking at me too much,” He remarks, glancing in my direction.
I snap back to reality realizing what I was doing.
“To be honest, I was a bit surprised to see you calling me so early,” he said while keeping his eyes focused on the road. “I was in the shower when you called that’s why I couldn’t pick up. Sorry about it.”
“Uh, it’s okay. It can’t be helped. At least you came on such short notice. Thanks for this.”
“No, it’s my pleasure if I can be a bit helpful to you,” he replied with a smile. “After all, you want to help out my sister. And I’m grateful for it. And I have to serve the Alpha and his family. So, no worries.”
There was no hint of lies in his words. He was speaking truthfully without throwing any shade at anyone.
How can such an honest person exist? Even though the world is full of liars?
“You are so loyal and honest, I can’t help but admire you,” I murmured out loud, observing his face.
He didn’t react to it but I could see the little smile of appreciation on his face.
“Oh, you admire me? Now, that’s surprising. Is there anything admirable about me?”
“There is, can’t you see it yourself?”
“Hm…. guess no. So,” he stepped on the break suddenly. “Would you help me find it out?”
“Huh?”
“I was joking. Your college is here,” he informed with a smile.
“Uh…I see, thanks for the ride,” I said before stepping out of the car.
“If you need a ride home you can call me again!” he added, peeking out his face through the window.
“I’ll keep it in mind, Bye!” I waved at him, before walking away.
Marshall is so understanding. He’s 100 times better than Dave who still hasn’t texted me back yet. Dumbhead!
How can you ignore me like that? Don’t you know I also have feelings just like Mom does? If you are going to be to be inferior to the other then you need to make a choice.
And your choice seems to be Mom, not me.
“Miss Aileen, where might you be going right now?” Skylar’s voice drew my attention. I looked beside me to see him standing with his hands in his pockets. “To the classroom I presume?”
“Yeah. So, don’t disturb me,” I stated before turning away to leave.
“Wait a minute there, Why are you in so much hurry to leave?” he strode over to my side, standing right beside me.
“I have classes to attend that’s why”
“Who was that handsome guy that came to drop you off at college earlier? Is he your boyfriend?” he asked, placing an arm around my shoulder.
Did he see Marshall by any chance? No wonder he’s asking about him.
“I noticed he seems to be a bit older than us. Are you into older men, Aileen?” he asked with a smirk. “Is this the reason you haven’t been paying any attention to the other guys in your class?”
“No, and that’s none of your business!” I stated, pushing his hands off my body.
His eyes narrowed on me. “Why are you being so defensive? I just want to know about him that’s all.”
Yeah, I can tell.
“I’m not here to satisfy your curiosities. Nor am I obliged to answer your questions. So, just leave me alone!” I replied clearly.
Who gives him the right to meddle in my private life? And I don’t want him to stalk Marshall because of me.
Why is he so obsessed with me anyway?
Skylar sighs in response. “Aileen, why do you always act so rude to me? I only want to know about that guy who came to drop you off. But, you, you just fucking hate me or something. Why’s that?”
I stalled for a few minutes organizing my thoughts to give a proper reply. “No…it’s not like that. I just don’t want you to get into my personal life because I don’t know you properly yet. So, mind my space. That’s all.”
He didn’t say anything afterward, so I just walked away from his side towards the classroom.
The class began a few minutes later.
But, all throughout the class, I kept thinking about my conversation with Skylar.
He looked a bit sad when I walked away. Did I scold him a bit harshly?
But, he’s the one at fault for getting on my nerves. If I don’t want to tell you who is Marshall, then why do you have to know about him? We aren’t friends, just classmates for god’s sake!
I didn’t do anything wrong! I showed him his place in my life.
I’m already mad because of Dave since yesterday. And now even Skylar has to irritate me. It’s the worst day ever!
During lunch time, I went to the bathroom and when I was about to leave I heard voices from behind the door.
I don’t have the habit of listening to people’s conversations, but when I heard Skylar’s name, I was a bit alarmed.
What are they discussing about him?
I placed my ear against the door and tried to listen.
“Skylar looks a bit sad today, don’t you think so?”
“Yeah, he was quite down today and didn’t even attend any classes. Miss Lorelai was looking for him.”
Is he sad? Is it my fault because of earlier?
“Do you think it’s because of the Alpha’s daughter? Did she say something to him?”
They are blaming me without any proof? Well, yeah, I’m partially to blame. But still!
“Well, if you ask me, I did see the two of them talking in the hallway before the classes began.”
“What? Did you hear what they were talking about?”
“Uh, no. She left from there right before I could listen to them. But, I did hear telling him to mind her space.”
Oh no! Why did she have to hear that?
“Mind her space? Why? Did he do anything wrong?”
“Skylar is not the type of guy to do that!” one of them retorted. “It’s the Alpha’s daughter who must’ve done something. She’s honestly a bit too cocky. She never tries to interact with anyone in class, thinking as if she’s superior to all of us.”
Their words hurt me like a knife piercing against my skin, but I had nothing to defend myself. I indeed have zero socializing skills. That’s the reason I can’t interact with them freely, and that gave me a negative reputation sadly.
I should’ve expected this earlier. Things aren’t the same as how they used to be in my high school anymore.
I used to get along with my friends because I was in a relationship with Jack. He’s the one who introduced me to his group of friends, which helped me form a social circle.
I took his kindness for granted but didn’t realize that a loner always stays a loner forever. Now that he’s not with me, I realize this very well.
