Avery P. O. V.
Two weeks later…
After that strange incident with Jake Stone and Elijah Woods at my house. But the weird thing is how they were staring at me. Like I was their meal and they wanted to eat me. I started thinking back that day. But right now, I need to calm down and get ready for school.
At school…
“Hey Avery, how have you been?” I gasp and stop in my tracks when I heard Jake Stone behind me. I knew he can tell I was nervous because I heard him chuckle.
“I-been fine- “Why you asked,” I told him with a nervous voice. I can’t believe this happening to me. I am standing here with one of the sexiest guys in my school talking to me.
“So, I am trying not to make a fool of myself in front of Jake and the whole school. I am standing outside the school parking lot. Before I got away from my car. Jake Stone came up to my car. So here we are outside talking, well he is talking I am just standing here listening to him and with a shy smile on my face.
“Hey Jake, I heard Elijah Woods walking towards us. Then he stops and spoke.
“Hey, nerd!” I guess he is back to his old self again. I heard a growl out of Jake’s throat.
“Don’t call her that!” He said with anger in his voice. “She has a name asshole,” Jake told off Elijah. I can see on his face his not happy with his best friend. But I do see tense between them.
“Guys thank you for everything, but maybe we should go inside before the bell rings.” So, we won’t be late for class.” I told them. But they didn’t move and say anything. They just stared at each other with tense looks on their face.
In the classroom…
‘Hey Ave” What happen to you this morning?” Ashely replied with a big smile on her face.
I didn’t want to tell her and Nat about the guys today at my car. Because of the way they were acting. Was strange and weird. I was in my own thoughts about the guys.
“Well, what do you mean you guys,” I told Ash and Nat. Not looking at them.
“Oh, what we mean is,” Ashely said with a smirk on her face.
“What!” I tell them with red on my face. Because everyone since who was close to me outside in the school parking lot.
“Don’t what us” We saw you with Jake Stone and Elijah Woods outside by your car,” Ashely said with a giggle. Yeah, we have seen how the guys were acting like around you” Natalie said with a shy smile on her face. She is the shy friend of us three.
“Oh, yeah like what?” Natalie.” I replied.
“You know, being overprotected over you and their fighting over you.” Stuff like that.” Natalie tells me.
“Oh, okay, let’s not talk about them right now,” I tell the girls. I am trying to pay attention to the teacher. Right now,” I tell my friends.
“Oh, okay whatever you say Avery” Ashely said with a giggle with Natalie.
“Yeah, whatever you say,” Natalie said with a giggle in her voice.
Lunchtime…
I am standing in the lunch line waiting for the lunch ladies to serve me food. I was picking up my tray I grabbed an apple and banana and a juice. Then I went down the line and the nice lunch lady give me a sandwich. I told her to thank you. I paid the bill and I started looking around for my friends. I saw them over by the window and they were waving at me. I started walking closer to my friends and I walked past the cheer and football team table. I felt someone’s foot come out and trip me.
“Ahh, I screamed out and I fall down on my knees. Ouch, that hurt. But my food didn’t fall thank God. But I did get back up. I cleared my throat and stand up. I started dusting off my clothes off.
I looked who trip me. It was Elijah Woods I thought was going to change. I look over at Jake Stone he was trying not to murder Elijah Woods. I heard the whole table laughing at me except Jake and Jacob White another football player who is friends with the guys. He is so cute and a very friendly guy to others. He never gives me and my friend’s problems. He’s been an okay guy. He never bullies people. I don’t understand why a guy likes him. Like a good guy hanging out with people like Amelia Stone and Emilia and her friends.
“Oh sorry” I heard Elijah say. I looked around and I see him and his rude friends laughing at me. Then I heard the whole lunchroom laughing at me. I stuck my nose in the air and wrapped it off my shirt and started walking away from them. I walked towards my friends.
“Hey Avery, you okay,” Natalie asked me with a snarling look staring at the football and cheer table. She not looking at Elijah but at Eli Wallace. He is laughing staring at her.
‘I am okay girls.”
“I am just a little embarrassed because it happened in front of the student body.” That all” I mumbled that last part. I didn’t want my friends and everyone else to see how hurt I was when they were laughing at me when I fell in front of everyone. Well, I was tripped by Elijah my bully and childhood nemesis.
“I am glad you’re okay Avery,” Ashely said folding her hands staring over at their table. I see Jayson smirking at Ashely. I saw her eyes give him a murder look.
I sit down beside my friends and started eating my lunch.
“Just ignore them, Ashely and Natalie,” I told them. They just jerk I told them. I hope Elijah and his friends heard me say it. I heard a growl. I didn’t want to look because I knew who it was. So, I started eating my food.
“So, girls what we are doing this weekend.” Who wants to go hiking in the woods?” We can go swimming at the waterfall.” That sounds good” I asked the girls.
“Yeah, but how about we go out to eat and go to the mall instead of hiking and swimming at the waterfall,” Ashely said.
“Okay, I need some new shoes anyway,” I tell my friends.
“Well, that settles it” We going to the mall,” Natalie says and we all nodded our heads.
We heard laughing over towards the lunch table, I wished I didn’t see over there. Because Jake and Elijah both had the girls in their lap kissing them.
I felt heartbreaking, but why. They’re nothing to me. It does not like we were mates or anything. I thought.
What you think” Angelstar said.
“Oh, shut up, now you’re coming around,” I told her. She rolled her wolf eyes at me.
“I am busy, okay.” She said with a giggle in her throat.
“Oh whatever” I need to get to class.” I’ll talk to you later Angelstar.” I tell her and block her out until later after school.
I was walking towards my fifth-period class for the gym. I overheard two people talking.
“What if she doesn’t want me Jake” What if she found out I am her mate” I heard Elijah talking to Jake Stone. “I know she hates me; I would do too if I am been picking on her since we were kids.” I heard Elijah say with pain and worry in his voice.
“Elijah man! She not going to reject you.” I know she not going to be upset when she finds out you guys are mates.” I think she going to be shocked more than anything.” I saw the way she stares at you brother.” I heard Jake say to Elijah. I was hiding out away from the wall. I know if they walked this way. They would see me behind the wall. I will be caught. I need to walk away and don’t listen to their conversation. That is what I did. I started walking away until I hit a wall. Ouch! I was holding my head. I started looking up and I saw…
