SHAWN’S POV
The car halted in the compound and he immediately looked up from his phone at Tiffany.
Surprisingly, she was sleeping peacefully beside him. He chuckled in amusement at how innocent she looked while asleep. No one would believe she was the same feisty sharp mouthed girl.
He got out and walked to her side of the car. Gently, he carried her out and went inside. He got to her room and carefully laid her on the bed.
He made to leave but he couldn’t help himself. He stood there for a moment, admiring her peaceful face and soft breathing. Slowly, He reached out and brushed a strand of hair away from her face, his fingers lingering on her cheek.
And then, he decided to help her get out of the shoes and jewelries. He knew it might seem wrong but he couldn’t let her sleep in something as uncomfortable as that.
He reached for her legs and gently unstrapped the shoes before taking them off and going to place them on their rack. Next, He reached for her neck.
As he carefully removed her necklace, his fingers brushed against the skin on her neck, sending a jolt of electricity through his veins.
He couldn’t help but admire her beauty as he took it off, her petite features and flawless skin. For a moment, he allowed himself to bask in the imagination of a relationship with her, one filled with passion and understanding. But he immediately waved the thoughts aside, reminding himself of their marriage and the reasons behind it.
Once he had finished taking off the necklace and earrings, he couldn’t resist the urge to stay back and watch her sleep, so he walked to the couch and sat on it as he watched the rhythmic rise and fall of her chest.
As he watched her sleep, memories of the recent events between them flooded his mind. The countless arguments and disagreements, the hurtful words they had exchanged. The way he had been treating her of late and he felt a pang of guilt.
He knew he wasn’t exactly the easiest person to be with. His demanding nature and high standards often pushed people away. But she had endured everything he threw at her.
He honestly did not expect her to still be in his house with him, after everything he had done to her.
Realizing he was getting sober, he stood up, walked to the bed and covered her with a blanket before quietly slipping out of the room.
As he entered his own bedroom, he couldn’t get the image of her peaceful face as she slept out of his head. It was the first time he had seen her so vulnerable and innocent, and it made him realize that there was more to her than she usually portrays.
Exhausted, he got out of his clothes, shoes and accessories before walking into the bathroom. The water cascaded down his body and brought him some Level of relief.
After bathing, he returned to his room and slipped into his pyjamas before getting on the bed and closing his eyes in sleep.
He woke up the next morning, and his eyes fell open when he looked at the clock and realized it was a few minutes past 9:00 Am in the morning.
He dragged himself out of bed into the bathroom to freshen up. He was not going to work as he was given a two day break in relation to his inauguration.
Speaking of being a Chairman, he smiled as he looked at himself in the mirror. It was not a dream after all but reality now.
He was not just the third richest youngest billionaire in Vancouver, but the youngest Chairman in the business world.
He now wields influence and command respect.
After a while, he went downstairs to fix himself breakfast. He would be meeting with Bryan later in the day, as he had traveled out of town and could not make it to his inauguration.
He couldn’t wait to hang out with Bryan and have himself laugh so hard at his silly jokes.
TIFFANY’S POV
She woke up the next morning to find herself on the bed. Her shoes were gone and her earrings and necklace too.
She quickly looked up to the wall clock and realized it was a few minutes past 7:00 Am in the morning.
She was late for school!
She immediately scrambled out of bed and into the bathroom. She got dressed and hurried downstairs. In a few minutes, she had gulped down her bowl of cereal before driving off to school.
She arrived and ran straight to class.
“Jeez…you are late!” Freya whispered.
“I know. I’m sorry.”
“And congratulations on your husband’s inauguration as chairman.”
“Thank you.”
“Miss Dion and Miss Meyer. Are you having your own class?”
“We are sorry, Ma.”
“You had better be.” She replied sternly before returning her attention to the board.
They continued whispering in low tones, Mrs. Johnson, the teacher, caught them again.
“Miss Dion and Miss Meyer, is there something more important than my class that you need to discuss?” She asked, her voice laced with anger.
They exchanged a nervous glance, as everyone turned to stare at them. Freya quickly tried to come up with a reasonable excuse. “No, Mrs. Johnson, we were just discussing last night’s assignment.”
Mrs. Johnson raised her eyebrows in mock belief. ” Really? Interesting that you find that more important than my class. If it’s so urgent, I suggest you continue your conversation outside. Leave my class!”
Knowing Mrs Johnson to be a no-nonsense teacher, they hurriedly gathered their belongings and quietly exited the classroom, trying their best to hide their embarrassment from their classmates.
Outside the class, Freya turned to Tiffany. “Did we just get sent out of the class?”
“I know, right?” She replied and they burst into laughter.
“You are a bad influence, Tiff. I would still be in class if not for you.”
“You wish. It’s been a long time since we got into trouble. I think age has a way of disciplining one.” Tiffany said as they took a stroll around the school, careful not to run into a teacher.
“You are correct. We used to get into lots of trouble when we were in junior high school.” Freya concurred.
They found a quiet spot behind the school garden. Sitting down on the grass, they continued their conversation.
“Do you remember the time we convinced the entire class that it was a half-day and everyone left early? The look on their faces the next day when they found out it was a prank was priceless,” Tiffany reminisced laughing out so loud.
Freya nodded in agreement. “And what about the time we painted Mr. Park’s office pink and decorated it everywhere with balloons as a birthday surprise? He was so shocked, he couldn’t even be mad!”
“Or when Timothy played the role of the devil in our Christmas carol drama and after the drama, he used his custume to scare Sabrina at the female restroom.”
Tiffany felt a pang of pain as she remembered Timothy. She hated to admit it, but she missed him and was sad things took the turn they did.
Deciding not to dwell on the thought, she pushed it aside and focused on the moment with Freya.
They went on and on about their mischievous acts and juvenile practices and they laughed so hard until their bellies hurt.
As the bell rang, signaling the end of Mrs Johnson’s class, they reluctantly stood up, brushing off the grass from their skirts. It was time to go back and learn, so they headed back to class.
