TIFFANY’S POV
Her mouth hung open in surprise and confusion. Her wedding? How was her wedding today and nobody told her about it.
“I’m confused, Ma. How can today be my wedding and no one told me about it?
“It was planned as a surprise, my darling.”
“Is my own wedding a surprise? This doesn’t sound right. Is Shawn aware of this?”
“Oh, yes he is.”
“This is unbelievable. So, where do I come in since I was not informed of the whole preparation?”
“Where you come in darling, is by sitting pretty and allowing them to work wonders on you.”
“This is unbelievable. I have not had my bath or brushed my teeth. Can I do it now?”
“Of course, my darling, but Clara here will run a bath for you.”
“Ohh…okay.” Tiffany replied and reluctantly walked into the bathroom with the Clara lady.
She watched in fascination as the lady mixed different scents in the bath water. “You can get in now, Ma.”
She nodded and looked at the lady giving her a signal to leave the bathroom, she obeyed and Walked out.
“Can today get better?” She murmured and got into the bathtub.
She had to admit that the water felt different and surprisingly soothing and good.
She didn’t want to get out until Mrs Gold’s voice sounded from the room. “Are you okay, sweetie?”
“Yes, I am. I will be out in a moment.” She replied and got out of the tub. She dried her body and wrapped the towel around her body before walking back to the room.
“Look at you. You smell so heavenly.”
“Thank you, Ma.”
“Now sit, let’s get your face transformed into something beautiful.”
Tiffany nodded and sat on the chair and the other lady who she later found out her name was Mira, began applying makeup on her face.
After a few hours, the lady was done performing magic on her face and a mirror was brought to her.
“Wow!” She exclaimed.
“Do you like it?”
“Yes, I do.”
“I got the best for you, Sweetie.”
“Thank you, Ma. Is my Dad coming? And where is the wedding being held?”
“Yes, your dad will be there. And the wedding is being held at a mimic garden Shawn hired.”
“Oh, okay.”
“It’s time to get dressed, hun. The dress Shawn had delivered to you is for the wedding today.”
Tiffany turned to look at her surprise. They knew and planned everything together!
She brought out the dress from the closet, and the shoes and jewelry too. Mira and Clara helped her with the dress and shoes, while she wore the jewelry herself.
She stared at her phone and was tempted to pick it up and tell her friends about the change in plan. They will obviously be waiting for her reply in regards to their proposed outing. She sighed heavily because she knew her hands were tied.
After dressing up, Mrs Gold led her downstairs with Mira and Clara following closely behind . “Where is everyone?”
“At the wedding venue. Come on, you don’t want to be late to your own wedding, do you?”
“Of course, not”
They got into the car and the driver drove off. Tiffany stared out the window as she reminisced on how her life has taken a huge leap in a direction she never thought possible. Imagine being unaware of her wedding.
It felt like she had lost control over her own life and the thought of it sickened her.
“Are you okay, Sweetie?” Mrs Gold asked, noticing her silence.
“I am fine. Everything just feels surreal. I mean waking up and realizing it’s my wedding. I thought stuff like this only happens in movies and books.”
“Well, it is happening to you and you can see for yourself that they happen in reality. Cheer up. It’s your wedding today, and you can’t be seen having that look on your face.”
Tiffany nodded and tried to brighten her face a bit. It was her wedding after all, and the Least she could contribute to its success is acting okay.
SHAWN’S POV
He left the house very early the next morning to his parents house. He didn’t want Tiffany to know about the plan. It was meant to be a surprise.
“You are here, Son.” His mother said and gave him a Hug.
“Hi, mum.”
“How are you? Did she notice you leave?”
“I don’t think so. Where is Dad?”
“Up in his room, getting dressed.”
“And Mr Dion?”
“On his way.”
“Okay. I feel nervous, Mum. Is the surprise wedding really a good idea?”
“You brought up the idea, no one did. Let’s hope it goes as planned. I will be leaving for your place with the beauticians so we can prep her up.”
“Okay. I will just sit here and wait for Dad.”
“That’s fine. I will be leaving now.” His mother said and walked out.
Shawn fiddled with his fingers, something he does whenever he is nervous or scared. He knew it was a crazy idea but he still went ahead with it. He only informed his parents and her father and they were all okay with the idea.
“Oh, you are here already. You must really be happy about this wedding.” His father said, descending the stairs.
“Hey, Dad.”
“Hey, son. You look good.”
“Thank you. You look good too.”
“I called Mr Dion a few minutes ago, and he said he was on his way. He should be here soon. By the way, where is your mother?”
“Oh, she left not too long ago to my house with some beauticians to prepare Tiffany.”
“Oh, that’s good. Let’s have some wine while we wait.”
Shawn nodded and walked to be bat after which he returned with two glasses and a bottle of wine. He popped it open and decanted a reasonable quantity in each glass.
They drank in silence, and a few minutes later, Mr Dion arrived.
“Look at you, Shawn. You are looking so handsome in that tuxedo.” He complimented as they exchanged handshakes.
Shawn walked to the bar and got a glass for him and helped him decant into the glass.
“Thank you.” Mr Gold said and took the glass from him.
“So, we are both standing as the witnesses.” His father asked rhetorically.
“Yes, we are.”
“Everything is set then, including the officiant.”
“That’s right.”
“We should leave now. They should not get there before us.” Mr Gold said and they all nodded in agreement.
They dropped their glasses and Shawn washed them before returning them to their place in the bar. He went outside to join them all they left for the wedding venue together.
They had just gotten there when Shawn’s phone rang and he excused himself when he saw it was Rachel.
“Hey, Shawn.”
“Hi, Rachel.”
“Umm…I was wondering if we could go out to see a movie together today.”
“That will not be possible because I’m occupied today.”
“With what? Are you going to be busy all day?”
“Yes, I will.”
“Come on, Shawn…”
Just then someone exclaimed, “The bride is here!”
“I will have to go now, Rachel.”
“Wait…wait, are you at a wedding?”
Shawn ended the call immediately and returned to join others.
“Where have you been?” His mother asked when she saw him.
“I stepped out to take a call.”
“That’s fine. It’s time and the officiant just arrived. Come on, you are about to get married legally.” She said and pulled him along.
They walked to others and his breath hitched in his throat when he saw Tiffany standing with her father. The dress looked good on her and it accentuated her entire curve.
“Get a grip on yourself!” He chided as he immediately looked away.
“Kindly step forward, please” The voice of the officiant sounded and he braced himself, because it was time for the main event.
