RACHEL’S POV
“The bride is here!” Was what she heard in the background before he ended the call.
Was he at a wedding? She felt uneasy and immediately dialed Max’s number. “I want you to find him and tell me where he is at.”
“Noted.”
She ended the call and began pacing. She always hated whenever he went somewhere and left her in the dark. She wants to know every one of his moves and wherever he goes.
While waiting for Max’s feedback, she decided to fix herself breakfast. Still, She couldn’t concentrate on the food as her mind kept drifting off to thoughts on where he could possibly be.
She managed to eat half of the cereal she made before emptying the residue in the waste bin. She went up to her room to freshen up while waiting for Max to give her an update.
After waiting for an hour with no response, she decided to get a dip in the pool to calm her anger and impatience. It was almost working when Max’s messages came in.
Her heart shattered to a million pieces and her breath hitched when she saw the content of the message. It was pictures of Shawn and his fiance tying the nuptial knot.
That explains the words she heard in the background. He was not at another person’s wedding but his!
Rachel felt betrayed and bittered. He hid it from her else she would have found a way to stop them by all means.
What was she going to do at that point because it seemed like she had lost the battle. That brat was finally Mrs Gold and it hurt her so much.
Then it struck her, she still had the pictures from the hotel. They could come in handy at that point.
Hurriedly, she walked to her drawer and took out a cellphone. She inserted a Sim card into it and turned it on.
She transferred the pictures from her phone to the phone and sent it to Shawn. Afterward, she took out her sim card and returned the phone to its place.
She smiled manically afterward. She will sit back and watch how things go haywire between them.
She called Max afterward to hear of any change presumably from the pictures she sent.
“Is there a change in the atmosphere or anyone’s mood?”
“Not at all. They all seem happy and cheerful.”
“Okay. Keep me posted on any latest developments.” She said and ended the call.
She will wait for the news, but while at it, she will drink and merry because she knows the effect those pictures will have on Shawn.
She didn’t hear from Max until hours later.
“They are headed for the court. I think they are going to submit their marriage license.”
“Okay. Follow them closely and keep me updated.”
The line went off and she continued pacing. Has he seen the pictures yet or was he acting cool since they were in public? She was not expecting that level of tranquility after sending those pictures.
She was expecting Max to call her and tell her how Sgaen walked away angrily and not news of them heading to the Court to submit their marriage license.
She was beginning to feel like her plans had failed and she hoped it hadn’t. She immediately grabbed her phone when Max’s call came in.
“They just got into the court. You have to understand that this is the process that finally makes them man and wife legally. Their marriage will be recorded and made official. There is nothing you can do after this point.”
“Shut up! I don’t remember asking for your explanation, dimwit.”
“I just wanted…” Rachel immediately cut him short.
“Shut up and get back to work!” And with that she ended the call.
She knew he was saying the truth but she refused to accept the fact that she has lost Shawn forever to some little brat.
She was still in thoughts when Max called an hour later. “He just asked her to get down from the car and he looked really angry…”
SHAWN’S POV
“Tiffany Dion and Shawn Gold, you are standing here today to join your lives in marriage. I want to start by welcoming everyone to this special occasion and by asking you all to stand and take a moment of silence to honor any loved ones who are not with us today.” The officiant began.
Shawn watched Tiffany and her Dad bow their heads in a moment of silence, presumably for late Mrs Dion.
“Thank you. Now, I’d like to ask you both a few questions before we begin the vows. Tiffany Dion, do you take Shawn to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer. Do you promise to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him for as long as you both shall live? If so, please respond with “I do.” The officiant continued.
She hesitated for a bit, staring at her father and he gave her a persuading nod after which she replied, “Yes, I do.”
“And Shawn, do you take Tiffany to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, until death do you part? If so, please respond with “I do.”
He momentarily went silent but eventually replied “Yes, I do.”
“Tiffany and Shawn, I now pronounce you husband and wife.”
Everyone cheered and clapped. Then it was time to sign the marriage license. The officiant signed, his father and Tiffany’s father signed as the two witnesses, after which they called the wedding a wrap.
“Now, you will return to the county clerk’s office to get your marriage recorded officially.” The officiant said to them.
“We are heading home. You will both go alone. You don’t need our company anymore.” Mr Gold said and they all concurred with him.
“Fine. We will go by ourselves. We are adults anyway.” He said and looked in Tiffany’s direction.
“Yes, we can go by ourselves.” She said, supporting him.
“Alright then. See you guys at home for the after party.” His mother said.
He nodded and left with Tiffany. They got into the car and hit the road for the court. He had a lot of thoughts going through his mind. Was she mad at him for not informing her about the wedding plans?
“You know, if there is anything you would love to say to me, you can say it now.”
“Are you feeling guilty?”
“Guilty? Why will I feel guilty?”
“I don’t know, you tell me. Why do you feel I have something to say to you?”
“It’s just a hunch. You can let it slide if you don’t have anything to say.”
“Fortunately, I do. Why didn’t you tell me about the wedding plans?”
“I wanted it to be a surprise.”
“A surprise? I didn’t have a say in the whole preparation! From the dress, to the shoes, to Jewelry, to the hairdo and make-up. Is that your definition of surprise? Surprising me with my own wedding?”
“Look, I’m sorry, Okay? Maybe it was not the right thing to do.”
“It was not.”
“Does that mean you don’t like everything I got for you?”
“I do and I appreciate them, but still, I feel my opinion matters too.”
“I’m sorry about that.”
“It’s fine.” She murmured and looked out the window.
“Would you like me to play music?”
“No, I’m okay with the tranquility in the car.”
He nodded and concentrated on the road. Suddenly, he remembered his phone. He had not touched it all through the marriage process and it had been in silence because he was scared Rachel would keep calling.
He took it out of his pocket and decided to check for missed calls or messages. He was surprised to see tons of picture messages from Rachel and he opted to open them.
“Shit!” He cussed as he brought the car to an abrupt halt by the roadside.
“Is anything the problem?” Tiffany asked, turning to look at him.
He turned to look at her, his eyes angry and murderous. “Get down!”
