RACHEL’S POV
“Wakey, wakey. You are such a heavy sleeper.” Rachel said as she sprinkled water on Edna’s sleeping form.
Edna quickly jerked awake on the floor, as the cold water touched her body.
“Where the hell am I?” She asked, as she tried to stand up.
“Somewhere in the middle of nowhere, darling. Welcome back. I see you enjoyed your sleep.” Rachel said, touching her hair.
“You lowlife!” Edna yelled as her eyes dimmed in recognition.
“Remember me?” Rachel asked, smiling broadly.
“Yes, I do. You are the bitch I met at Shawn Gold’s company. What are you doing?” Edna yelled.
Rachel stayed quiet for a while before smacking her hard across the face.
“Do you realize you are at my mercy? Presently, your life is in my palm. I can kill you and throw your gold digging body to the crocodiles in a river.” Rachel threatened as she grabbed Edna’s chin with her hand.
“I’m sorry. Please, don’t kill me. What have I done wrong to you?” Edna asked, tears flowing down her eyes.
“A lot. And funny enough, you are not even aware. Now, I’m going to ask, how did you meet Shawn Gold?” Rachel yelled.
“Wait…are you doing all of these because of a man?” Edna asked, her brows creasing in Surprise.
“Do not question me. Answer the damn question!” Rachel yelled and punched her mouth heavily.
Edna screamed as she spat out a thick mass of blood. “I Will tell you. Please, don’t hit me again.”
“Then go ahead before I change my mind and just kill you.”
“Fine. We met at a bar in the snooker lounge. His friend walked up to me and proposed that I spent one night with him. That was all, I promise. And we didn’t do anything the night I followed him home. Please, don’t kill me.” Edna pleaded.
“I see. So why did you bring him gifts to the office?” Rachel asked.
“I just wanted to see him. That’s all.” Edna explained, her body shivering with fright.
“I see. So you are looking for a rich man to get your claws on, huh?”
“I promise you, it’s not what you think.” Edna pleaded.
Rachel ignored her and gently removed her elegant heel and commenced a soothing massage of her leg. “A leg can be quite delicate, don’t you think, Edna Garter?” she inquired casually.
Edna attempted to withdraw her leg, but Rachel’s grip tightened immediately, rendering her powerless. “Please, don’t hurt me” Edna pleaded, her eyes bulging out in fear.
Ignoring Edna’s protests, Rachel continued with her task, her gaze focused intently on the leg she was massaging. “I wouldn’t recommend you making any more noises, Edna,” she replied calmly, her voice surprisingly cold and calm “You’re only a few moments away from a life confined to a wheelchair. All I need to do is ensure you hear the sound of your bone snap when I separate your lower leg from your ankle.”
Edna froze, her eyes filled with pure terror. A shiver of fear coursed through Edna, clearly visible in every part of her body.
“Just relax for me, Edna Garter,” Rachel’s eyes momentarily met Edna’s, “One wrong move, and I’ll slit your wrist.”
Edna’s voice trembled as she asked, “Who are you? Who sent you?”
“It’s funny how you think I’m doing this for someone, bitch. However, It’s not so much about who I am, but rather what I want from you,” Rachel explained. “Stay away from Shawn Gold, Edna Garter. I don’t indulge in the typical feminine melodramatic battles over a man’s affections. I do not engage in those confrontations. So, pardon me if this isn’t the usual way it’s done,” a slight pout of her lip, “I don’t do things the usual way. You know what they say? I will tell you. Normalcy is actually boring.”
“I don’t understand. What are you saying!?” Edna said, confusion vivid on her face
“Shawn Gold, Edna Garter. Leave Shawn alone,” Rachel continued and then paused. “He belongs to me.”
“What!?” Edna exclaimed.
Rachel ignored her and continued. “Now, I wouldn’t have taken these steps if Shawn Gold, oh! Maybe I would have, had he welcomed your advances, but he’s not interested in you, Edna Garter. If you ever dare to spare as much as a glance his way again, make sure you vanish from the surface of the earth, because I will find you. I’ll kill you in the most brutal way you could ever imagine, and by the time anyone realizes, you’ll be long dead and decayed. Even if they manage to trace your murder to me, which is impossible, anyway, I have nothing to lose. I don’t give a hoot about my life either, so I’m not scared of losing it. But guess what won’t change” Rachel said in the most ready tone ever.
“I’ll still be dead.” Edan whimpered, her face pale from intense fear as tears rushed down her cheeks.
Rachel’s lips formed a sly smile, bereft of any warmth. “Look at you, you’re smarter than I thought. Yes, you’ll indeed face a painful torture and the most gruesome death ever heard in history. Your body will be chopped and scattered in pieces for beasts to feast on.”
“Your legs are trembling already, my darling, and it’s ruining my massage.” Rachel complained letting out a soft, disapproving hiss as she continued to trace her fingers gently along Edna’s ankle.
“I’ll l-leave- Shawnalone, I promise. I’ll never try to seduce or get close to him again.” Edna promised, Her voice quivering and her teeth clattering loudly.
“Good girl. You know what else I need from you? Make sure this conversation remains between us, Edna Garter.” Rachel said as she gave her a hard squeeze on the ankle.
“Ouch! That hurts.” Edna moaned in pain.
Carefully she helped her put her heel back on, then took her left leg into her hand. She leaned closer and whispered in a low tone, “It’ll be our dirty little secret.” She said, before standing to her full length. She had been crouching all the while.
The room suddenly went silent, broken only by Edna’s shallow sobs.
“Besides, you have no evidence against me.” Rachel continued, “It’ll be your word against mine.”
“I will never say a word about it to anyone,” Edna said and raised a trembling hand toward her lips and made a zipping gesture with her fingers.
“Now we’re on the same page. No matter what you do in your life, never encroach on what’s mine. It always ends poorly.” Rachel warned.
“I swear on my late grandma’s grave. I won’t trespass again. Please, let me go.” Edna pleaded.
“Oh please, don’t involve the poor old woman. Max will drop you off at your place.” And with that, Rachel walked out of the room without a second glance.
She met Max outside, smoking as usual.
“Do you ever get tired of smoking?” She asked angrily, as tried to wave off the smoke coming her way.
“No, I don’t. What’s up? Are you done with her?” He asked, throwing a stub of cigarette away.
“Yes, I am. And I hope for her own safety, she listens to me else, she would have herself to blame.” Rachel said.
“I doubt she would go against you. Not after why you might have said to her.” Max said.
“I can’t believe I was actually having a conversation with you. Go and drop her off. I’m leaving.” Rachel said and walked off.
They had brought Rachel to an abandoned ranch owned by a criminal friend of Max who was serving a jail term. Prior to his sentence, he had brought Max to the ranch on numerous occasions. So when she told Max about her plan to get Edna kidnapped, Max had suggested they bring her to the ranch.
She cussed silently as she made her way through the large mass of land covered by grasses. She could not wait to get home, strip herself of the clothes she had on and then have a cold bath. She got to the gate and walked out into the deserted street where her car was parked.
As she drove home, she couldn’t help but smile at the techniques she had used to instil fear in Edna. The poor girl almost peed on her panties. That was how far she was willing to go to get anyone who would stand as an obstacle on the part of her being with Shawn.
Then she remembered Tiffany. It irked her that she had not been able to arrive at a permanent solution in order to get rid of her. As far as she was concerned, Tiffany Dion was her greatest contender and she would get rid of her soon.
