TIFFANY’S POV
Tiffany sat in the school library as she stared blankly at the pages of the textbook in Front of her. She couldn’t get the events of the previous night out of her head. She knew Shawn could be a jerk, but bringing a lady to the house was the least of things she expected.
She sighed for the umpteenth time as she tried to concentrate on the textbook all to no avail. She had used the excuse of wanting to study to stay away from her friends. And luckily, Oscar was not in school so she didn’t have to worry about their lesson.
Her head was fogged with different thoughts. Did he bring the lady to spite her for cheating like he accused her? Will the lady keep visiting the house or will he start changing ladies?
She was confused and didn’t know what to think anymore. Unable to get a grasp of what she was reading, she closed the textbook, and returned it to its place on the book shelf. Afterwards, she carried her bag and left the library.
On her way back to class, she encountered Mary and her minions. Her face immediately hardened. She was in the mood to go bitchy and if Mary Quevara tried anything silly with her, she would not hesitate to retaliate.
“Aww…I see, your leg has healed. Tell me, did it hurt?” Mary asked, as she blocked her path.
“Leave my way this minute!” Tiffany ordered, her tone cold like ice.
“And if I don’t?” Mary asked arrogantly.
“You will have yourself to blame for what will happen next.” Tiffany replied, menacingly.
“Empty threat. Anyway, I know you are recovering from what I will call a major fall, so I will let you be since you are still recuperating. Let’s go, girls.” Mary said to her minions and they walked away.
“Bitch!” Tiffany cussed before continuing her walk to class.
Luckily, there was no teacher in the class yet. She walked to her seat and gently sat down next to Freya as usual.
“Hey. How was your reading?” Freya asked.
“It was okay. Did you get me the burger?” Tiffany asked, as her stomach grumbled.
“I will never forget,” Freya said and handed her the burger.
“Where is Tim?’ Tiffany asked as she sank her teeth into the burger.
“In his class. He was worried. Are you okay, Tiff?” Freya asked, her tone laced with concern.
“Typical Timothy. Yeah. Sure, I’m fine.” Tiffany replied.
Freya was about saying another thing when a teacher walked into the class. They did not say anything to each other until dismissal time.
“So what plans do you have for the weekend? And I have been meaning to ask, what college are you choosing? I want the three of us to attend the same college.” Freya said to Tiffany as they walked to the parking lot.
” I don’t know yet, but I’m looking to get into Columbia University, but then, one needs a good portfolio.” Tiffany replied.
“Oh. My dad was suggesting John Hopkins,” Freya said.
“That’s a nice choice too.” Tiffany said, shrugging.
“I know, right.” Freya said.
They got to the parking lot and Timothy was already waiting for them.
“Two parrots. You both forgot I was waiting.” Timothy said teasingly.
“Says someone who is never early to anything.” Freya said and rolled her eyes.
“I’m a changed Man and it seems you took over from me.” Timothy said.
Freya hit his arm playfully. “I can never be like you, dude.”
“Okay, guys. Enough of the fight. I have to go now.” Tiffany said. She was already worn out by their bickering.
“A group hug, everyone.” Freya said and spread her arms wide open.
They shared the hug and Tiffany got into her car and waved goodbye before driving out.
She got home and went up to her room to freshen up. Afterwards, she went downstairs to have lunch. Returning to the house brought back memories of the previous night and it made her nauseating. Involuntarily, she reached out and massaged her forehead. Luckily, it was not swollen like it was the previous night.
Her face flushed in embarrassment as she remembered the moment Shawn opened the door and caught her. She had denied eavesdropping and she knew he was not convinced. But who cares? There was no way she was ever going to admit she was eavesdropping.
She sighed and stood up as she walked to the kitchen to drop her plates. After washing and returning it to its place she went back upstairs.
She took out her textbooks to read, since she couldn’t read at the school library. She put on her headset and immersed herself fully in the textbook she was reading.
She read for hours and by the time she stopped, it was a few minutes to 6, O’clock She yawned in exhaustion as she stood up and put the textbooks away.
She walked downstairs with the intention of seeing a reality show before having dinner and then retiring to bed. Surprisingly, Shawn was sitted in the sitting room watching News.
“Good evening,” She greeted in disappointment.
He gave a curt nod and returned his attention to the Television.
She sighed and walked into the kitchen to make herself dinner. Her plan was ruined. She would just have dinner and retire to her room.
She returned to the dinning with her bowl of cereal. From the dinning room, she could see and stare at Shawn and that was why she was able to see when he answered his phone.
He spoke to the caller and turned to look at her and when he noticed she was staring, he stood up and walked outside.
Now, that was strange. Why did he walk outside because of a call? He took all of his calls inside. Tiffany didn’t know why, but she had the feeling in her guts that the call was in some way connected to her.
Unable to shake off the feeling, she left her food and stealthily walked to the door. Gently and without a noise, she opened it and walked outside. She scanned the environment but Shawn was not in sight.
She paused to ponder a bit. What if he was talking to that lady he brought home?
“What are you doing here?” Shawn’s voice suddenly sounded behind her back.
She quickly turned in fright and surprise. “I…um…was feeling hot inside so I decided to come outside.” She said, stuttering.
“Feeling hot in a house where every corner had an air conditioner?” Shawn asked with a frown.
“Well, you can’t compare processed air to the one given by nature.” Tiffany retorted.
“I see. You have to stop sniffing around like a dog, you know that, right?” Shawn asked, unsmiling.
“I was not sniffing around. Don’t o have freedom of movement anymore?” Tiffany asked getting defensive.
“Not when you are invading others private. You should know better. That’s by the way. Go upstairs and prepare. We are going somewhere and I mean now.” Shawn said and walked past her.
“Where are we going to?” Tiffany asked and went after him.
“You will know when we get there.” Shawn replied as they got into the sitting room.
“I’m not going with you if I don’t know where we are going to.” Tiffany said adamantly.
“Can you quit being a brat and do as I said?” Shawn asked and stopped to give her an angry look.
“No!” Tiffany retorted.
“Fine! You want to know where? Then I will tell you. We are going to the hospital. Your father slumped at a meeting…”
