Chapter 44

Book:Blind Date With Mr Arrogant Published:2025-3-31

TIFFANY’S POV
She stared out the window, trying to get the thought of how good Shawn looked out of her head.
His cologne was not helping matters as it kept drifting towards her nostrils teasing her and messing with her head.
She stole glances at him at intervals to admire his handsome masculine features.
“Sir, I think that grey sedan is following us.” Mark suddenly said, bringing her out of the reverie.
“Following us?” Shawn asked.
“Yes. I noticed it started following us from the estate gate.” Mark said, looking at his rearview mirror.
“No, don’t turn!” Mark yelled as Tiffany made to turn and take a look at the car.
“Can you make him lose us?” Shawn asked calmly.
“Yes, I can.” Mark replied confidently.
“Then do it.” Shawn said.
Mark immediately stepped on the car’s accelerator and the car picked speed. He changed direction and drove towards the route that led to the state mall. The mall is always crowded on Saturdays because families love to shop on Saturdays.
He manoeuvred his way through the crowd and drove to the back exit entrance of the mall. Scanning to see if the car was still sight, and when he didn’t see it he picked up speed again and drove off.
MAX’S POV
“Shit! Shit!” He yelled, hitting the steering of the car in frustration.
He lost them, now Rachel would have his head. How did they even realize he was following them? Damn the driver! Shawn has never been that vigilant, it has to be the goddamn driver.
His heart skipped a bit when his phone rang and the ID showed Rachel. “Hello,” He answered reluctantly.
“Where are they headed, or rather, where are they?” Rachel asked.
“Ummm…I’m so…rry, but I lost them.” Max stuttered.
“You did what?” Rachel half yelled.
“Yo! It was not my fault. The driver noticed I was following and he changed direction, in the course of following them, I lost them.” Max explained.
“You dimwit! son of a scumbag! Why did you make it obvious? You obviously were too close and that was why the driver noticed you.” Rachel yelled.
“Look, I’m sorry, okay.”
“Keep your apology to your sorry ass! Find them or kiss goodbye to half of your salary!” Rachel yelled, ending the call.
RACHEL’S POV
As usual, she felt like hauling something to the wall. The guts of the lowlife to lose them.
Desperate, she reached out for her phone and called Shawn. “Hello?” His voice after the third ring.
“Shawn, where are you? I feel so sick.” She said feigning a sick tone and hoping he would tell her his location.
“I’m sorry about that, Rachel. You should see a doctor.” Shawn said.
“That’s why I called. I can barely walk.” Rachel said, whimpering.
“You Know what? I will send my driver to come pick you up and take you to the hospital. I am headed to somewhere important now.”
Shit! The place was more important than his best friend’s life? Nice one, Shawn.
“I will wait.” She said and dropped the call.
She presumes the driver will be the one driving him and that brat to wherever they were going. Having the driver come over would be an advantage because she would try to get information of their location from him.
Nice one, Rachel.
SHAWN’S POV
He sighed as he ended the call. “Mark, after dropping us, you will have to go pick up my friend at her place and take her to the hospital.” Shawn said.
“That’s not a problem, Sir.” Mark replied.
“Is she okay?” Tiffany asked in concern.
He turned to look at her, and he was once again captivated by her alluring look. “She is sick and needs to see a doctor.” Shawn replied, looking away.
“Oh! She should be fine.” Tiffany muttered, before returning her gaze to the window.
They soon arrive at the court, and Mark parked at a safe spot inside the spacious compound. He quickly alighted and opened the door for Tiffany and Shawn.
They got out, looking like the perfect power couple, with eyes trailing them.
Then they walked into the court, ready to begin the process of applying for their marriage licence.
RACHEL’S POV
“Hello, Ma. I’m the driver Mr Gold sent. I’m currently outside your gate ” The voice said on the phone.
“Press the socket beside the gate, it will alert the gatekeeper to open the gate for you.” Rachel said, feigning a sick voice.
A few minutes later, the driver was ushered into her living room.
“It’s good Shawn sent you, but my personal doctor left a few minutes ago. He checked me, and prescribed some medication and then asked me to rest.” Rachel said, as she lay on the couch wrapped up in a duvet.
“So, I won’t be taking you to the hospital again?” Mark asked to be sure.
“Yes, please. Tell Shawn about it. I’m sure he would probably be in a meeting now. Only an important meeting will make Shawn not come pick me up himself.” Rachel said.
“Actually, he is not at a meeting, Ma.” Mark replied.
“Really? Where could he be? Shawn never ceases to amaze me.” Rachel said, nonchalantly sounding like she didn’t care about the details of his whereabouts.
“He is at the state’s court with his fiance…” Rachel cut Mark short immediately. “At the court? Doing what?
“They are applying for their marriage licence.” Mark answered innocently.
“What?” Rachel yelled almost spranging up, but she thought against it as it would blow her cover of pretending to be sick.
“Are you okay, Ma?” Mark asked concerned.
“Yeah. I’m fine. I think you should leave. I’m feeling dizzy and sleepy. I need to rest like my doctor recommended.” Rachel said.
“Okay, Ma. Get well soon.” Mark said and walked out of the living room.
TIFFANY’S POV
They were soon done signing the necessary documents and submitting theirs.
After the whole process, they paid a fee for the licence. They were asked to get married within 30 days and the licence should be signed by the officiant of the wedding and two witnesses after which they would return the licence to the country clerk to get it officially registered.
Tiffany let out a sigh of relief as they left the court. “Are you tired?” Shawn asked.
“A bit. How about you?” She asked.
“I’m a man. Men don’t get tired easily.” He bragged.
They got into the car, as Mark was already back and waiting for them. “How Is she, Mark?” Shawn asked.
“She was not looking too good, but according to her, her doctor left not quite long before I arrived so I didn’t take her to the hospital anymore.” Mark explained.
“Oh. I will call her when we get back.” Just then, Shawn’s phone rang.
“Mum?” He answered when he picked the call
“Hello, babe. I’m at the airport. Come pick your mother.”
