SHAWN’S POV
Shawn was taken aback for a second, as he took the phone away from his ear and placed it back again.
“What did you say, Mum?” He asked.
“Silly boy! I’m at Vancouver’s international airport. Don’t keep your mother waiting.” And the line went off.
“Mark, turn the car. Head to the airport.” Shawn instructed.
Tiffany gave him a worried look. “Is everything okay?” She asked.
“Yes. My mum is back from her vacation and we are going to pick her up.” Shawn replied.
After an hour’s drive, they arrive at the airport. Mark parked the car at the parking lot and they all alighted.
Shawn dialled his mother’s number again and she picked up immediately. “Mum, where should we meet you?” He asked.
“At the Arrivals hall, honey.” She replied.
“Let’s head for the Arrivals hall ” He said to Tiffany and Mark after dropping the call.
They were almost there when he sighted flowers being sold. “You two wait here while I buy some of those flowers for mum.” Shawn said hurrying off to buy the flowers.
He returns with two bouquets of flowers, a yellow tulip and rose. He handed over the rose to Tiffany and kept the tulips.
They continue their journey to Arrivals, and standing there with her luggages and a warm Smile was Mrs Amber Gold.
“Shawn darling.” She yelled, running into his arms.
“Hi, Mrs Gold.” Tiffany greeted.
“Oh, my, my, my. Tiffany?” She quickly engulfed Tiffany in a hug. “How are you, my darling?” Mrs Gold asked.
“I’m fine, Ma. Here, I got you flowers courtesy of Shawn. Welcome back to Vancouver.” Tiffany said, handing the flowers to her.
“Here too, Mum.” Shawn said, handing his flowers to her too.
“You children are making me emotional.” Mrs Gold said, feigning tears.
“Welcome back, Ma.” Maerk greeted when he finally got the opportunity.
“Oh, Mark. It’s been a while. You still work for Shawn?”
“Yes, I do, Ma.” Mark replied.
“Let’s go now, Mum.” Shawn said, carrying one of her bags while Mark carried the rest. Tiffany was not allowed to carry anything.
“So, dear, how have you been coping with someone as cold as Shawn?” Mrs Good asked Tiffany. They were now in the car heading home.
“It has not been easy, honestly. But we are trying not to kill each other with each day that passes.” Tiffany replied and glanced at Shawn.
“Awwww…I love that. How much you have grown Tiffany. You are now a woman and it makes me happy to know that Shawn is getting married to you.” Mrs Gold said.
“Mum, Are you going to your husband’s house?” Shawn suddenly asked.
“Of course. Where else, or do you have space in your house?” Mrs Gold teased.
“Of course not.” Shawn hurriedly replied.
“I’m going to my husband’s house. I’m not homeless.” Mrs Gold said and everyone burst into laughter.
“Mrs Gold, will you be willing to tell me stories about your vacation?” Tiffany asked.
“Of course, yes, darling.” Mrs Gold replied.
“So, Mark will drop us at home and then take you to your husband’s house.” Shawn said, stressing the house “husband.”
“Like I said, I’m not homeless, boy.” Mrs Gold said, and once again they burst into laughter.
A few hours drive got them home, and Shawn and Tiffany alighted while Mrs Gold stayed back in the car.
“Drive carefully, Mark. Mum, I will see you later.” Shawn said, waving.
“Safe trip back home, Ma.” Tiffany said, waving too.
“Tiffany, darling. You should stop by the house one of these days now that I’m back so I can share a few tricks on how to handle this son of mine with you.” Mrs Gold said, and winked at Shawn.
“You will do no such thing, Mum.” Shawn said, as the car drove away.
“Why Are you smiling? Don’t tell me you intend to listen to what she says?” Shawn asked, turning to Tiffany.
“Why not? You are so unpredictable and a little expo from your mum won’t hurt, will it?” Tiffany asked.
“The two of you are impossible.” Shawn scoffed and went inside.
MAX’S POV
After Rachel called him and told him they were at the court, he had driven hastily to the court in order not to miss them again. He can’t afford to lose half of his salary because of them.
A few minutes after waiting in the street, He saw them heading out of the court towards their car.
He immediately tailed them as their car drove out. This time, he was more careful as he didn’t want that goddamn driver to notice him again.
A few minutes after driving, the driver suddenly made a turn and took another direction.
“Shit!” Max cussed, scared the driver might have noticed him like he did before and was trying to make him lose them.
“What the fuck is wrong with you dude?” He murmured as he also made a turn and followed them.
He got more confused when the driver took the route that led to the airport. Were the couples traveling? So soon?
“Better to stay calm and watch.” He muttered as he parked a few metres from their car in the airport.
He followed them stealthily as they headed for the Arrivals. He also stopped to buy something when they stopped to buy flowers.
He was stunned when he found out they were there to welcome an elderly lady. Not too old, though. For a woman her age, she looked damn hot.
Max felt his manhood twitch in his pants. “Stay down, man.” He murmured.
The woman had Shawn’s eyes but he still can’t conclude on anything, so he brought out his phone and dialed Rachel’s number.
“Yo! I followed them to the airport. They are here to welcome an elderly woman who has your boyfriend’s eye.” He said into the phone, discreetly.
“Did you say she has his eyes? Describe her looks.” Rachel said.
“Auburn hair, piercing blue eyes, big butts, tall, the best hips in the whole world…” He is cut short by Rachel’s voice.
“Shut up, you pervert! Did I ask you to ogle at an old woman, old enough to be your mother? That’s his mother, dummy. Now, get away from there!” Rachel ordered before ending the call.
RACHEL’S POV
What brought the old hag home? Was she done with her vacation? Mrs Gold being back could foil her plans.
She never liked the woman because she seemed to see through Everyone including herself. Her hatred for her had increased the day she overheard her warning Shawn to be careful of her.
She had better not gotten in her way.
