TIFFANY’S POV
She stared at him in surprise. Was this Shawn Gold talking? No, apologizing?
“I gave you an opportunity to prove yourself but you went from bad to worse. For a moment, I thought we were finally getting along then all of a sudden you went back to your grumpy self.” Tiffany said, maintaining eye contact with him.
“I know, right? I messed up. Just give me another chance to make up for how I treated you.” Shawn pleaded.
Just then, his phone rang and he gave her a sign to excuse him. He walked a bit farther from the dining area to take the call.
Tiffany saw that as a cue to continue with her chocolate drink. “The call was from Bryan’s girlfriend. She is a lawyer. We will be going to court tomorrow to apply for our marriage license.” Shawn informed her, returning to the dining.
“That soon?” Tiffany asked.
“Yes. You have to get your birth certificate, passports, social Security number, and drivers license ready. Did you come with them?” Shawn asked.
“Yes, I did. When are we leaving? ”
“10 a. m. in the morning.”
“Fair enough.”
“Okay then. Good night.” Shawn said, making to leave. “Wait. I can fix you a cup of chocolate drink.” Tiffany offered before she could stop herself.
Shawn was momentarily quiet before replying, “I will appreciate that.” He took a seat at the dining table and watched her go into the kitchen.
A few minutes later, Tiffany returned with a hot mug of chocolate drink. “Here. Your chocolate is ready.” She said, dropping the mug in front of him.
“Wow! How did you create this emoji on top? ” Shawn asked, fascinated by the creamy emoji on the top of the chocolate drink.
“It’s a secret. One that you have to pay to learn.” Tiffany said.
“Name your price.” Shawn said
“I will think about it. Now, drink up else it will get cold.” Tiffany chided.
“Yes, Mummy.” Shawn teased.
“! I’m not your mom. ” Tiffany said, making a disgusted face.
Shawn burst into laughter at how funny her face looked. “You should look at yourself in the mirror.”
“I look beautiful. I know, I know. ” Tiffany said, flipping her hair over her shoulders.
SHAWN’S POV
He was momentarily lost as he stared at her as she flipped her hair backwards. Does she know how beautiful she looked by just making that gesture? “Hey, are you okay? ” Tiffany said, waving her hand in his face.
“Sure. I am.” He replied, quickly regaining composure.
And in one gulp, he emptied the remaining content of the mug. “Thank you for the chocolate drink. This has to be the best I have had.”
“You are welcome.” Tiffany replied, as she took the mug and left for the kitchen.
“I have to go to bed now,” Shawn said out aloud so she could hear him from the kitchen.
“Feeling sleepy already?” Tiffany asked.
“No. I mean, yes. I have some work to do on my phone.” He replied.
“That’s fine. I will see you in the morning.” Tiffany said.
“Yeah. Good night.” And with that, Shawn hurried away not trusting himself to stay there one more second without doing something stupid.
TIFFANY’S POV
After washing the mug, she had arranged the dining table before leaving for her room.
Lying on the bed, she opened her WhatsApp to see tons of messages from her friends.
“As usual.” She muttered to herself.
@Queen Freya
“Lady Tiff, how are you feeling now?”
(Accompanies it with a worried emoji.)
@Lord Timothy III
“Hey, best friend. You okay?”
@Lady Tiff
“I’m fine, guys. I was a bit jittery, but I’m fine now.”
@Queen Freya
“I’m still adamant on my stance about Mary being a suspect.”
@Lord Timothy III
“You can’t conclude yet, Freya.
“I don’t trust that new boy. First, Tiffany bumped into him. Second, he was there in the hallway. How was he even there on time to save her from falling?”
@Lady Freya
(Sends a thinking emoji)
@Lady Tiff
“I think Tim has a point.”
@Lord Timothy III
“He might have orchestrated everything so he could appear as a hero. It’s obvious he is into you. For all we know, he might be doing it to appear as your knight in shining armour so he can win your heart.”
@Lady Freya
“Now, that is another theory to consider.”
@Lady Tiff
“I seriously don’t know what to think, guys. Why would anyone want to harm me?”
@Lady Freya
“Because you are beautiful, intelligent, popular, rich, and most of all, engaged to one of Vancouver’s youngest and finest billionaires. Some people have always wanted what you have.”
@Lord Timothy III
“Hmmm…why do I feel you are still talking about Mary?”
@Lady Freya
“And then? What’s with you defending Mary Guevara lately?”
(Adds angry and curious emojis.)
@Lord Timothy III
“I’m not!”
@Lady Freya
“Yes, you are!”
Tiffany sighed in frustration. They were at it again. Bickering and shouting at each other even though they were behind their phones keyboards.
Tired and not ready to resolve any argument, she turned off her data and took her phone away. She put on her night mask, and then turned off the bedside lamp.
Lights out, Tiffany.
SHAWN’S POV
“Hello, Mark. I will be needing your service. I want you to drive my fiance and I to the state’s court.” Shawn spoke into the phone.
“At your service, Sir. What time is it?” Mark, Shawn’s driver asked.
“10 o, clock, but come by 9:30.” Shawn said.
“I will be there, Sir.” Mark said, and the line went dead.
Shawn sighed, and continued his preparation. He wore a light pinstripe shirt on the inside of his navy blue suit. A dark blue tie, gold cufflinks, burgundy pocket square, black Gucci leather belt and a matching black Tom Ford’s leather Black shoes.
After ensuring his look was perfect, he wore his gold Rolex wrist watch and then sprayed his imperial majesty cologne by Clive Christan.
Satisfied with his look, he picked up the briefcase containing his documents and walked out of the room.
He got downstairs and Tiffany was setting the table for breakfast. As usual, his breath caught in his throat.
She was dressed in a black corporate gown with gold buttons. Her hair was neatly packed in a bun with a gold clip. Her legs were graced by the most alluring pairs of golden pump heels.
As she turned to look at him, he gasped at her beautiful face. She had a mild nude makeup on and when she smiled at him, he could feel himself turn gelly inside.
“Good morning. Breakfast is ready. Have a seat. And oh! You look great.” She complimented before hurrying into the kitchen.
Breakfast was toast, hotdogs and sandwiches with coffee. Shawn ate with relish and to his satisfaction.
His phone suddenly rang. “I think the driver is here.” He said to Tiffany before picking the call.
She hurriedly cleared the table and they both headed outside. Mark, the driver, was waiting outside.
“Good morning sir and ma.” He greeted.
“Good morning.” Shawn replied and threw the car keys at him.
“Good morning, Sir.” Tiffany replied.
Shawn turned to look at her in surprise. He thought daddy’s girls don’t greet their workers or even talk to them with respect. Wow! The kid was not that bad.
Mark drove the car out of the garage and they got in. “So, the state court?” Mark asked.
“Yes….” Shawn was stopped by Tiffany’s “Wait!”
“What is it?” He asked, concerned.
“I just remembered I forgot the file containing my documents. I will quickly go get it in my room.” Tiffany said, already getting out of the car.
“Please, be fast. We can’t afford to be late.” Shawn said.
A few minutes later, she returned with the file and carefully tucked it inside her handbag.
“Women.” Shawn muttered looking out the window.
“What?” Tiffany asked.
“Nothing.” He quickly replied.
“Okay then.” She replied.
As they drove out of the estate gate, a car waiting in the distance followed them.
