“Miss Alice swore that she was telling the truth.” He walked towards the computer and connected it, picked out the file and pressed play. Soon, Alice’s voice boomed over the speakers and she was exposed.
“The use of foul words were not blotted out and so this made sound a bit inappropriate but your honour, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, let me prove Miss Alice’s lies.”
“The man who was employed to lose a few nuts in Mr Coleman’s car said he recorded this down in case Miss Alice refuses to pay him the balance of the job before she flees to the Philippines. Let me inform the court that he was arrested two days ago.” The prosecutor said and pressed play so that the recording could play.
“Ahhh!” Alice’s voice boomed in the courtroom.
“That stupid Mark just had to get caught!”
“Couldn’t he just keep his dick in his pants?”
“Because of him, I killed that stupid gay idiot.”
“And now just to prove my point that I won’t let that fucking wench called Eve have a happy ending, I have to kill Jason that I’ve liked since middle school.”
“What the fuck!, If only she had just died the first time when I asked Sophie to end her. Sophie is so clumsy and sluggish, she couldn’t get the job done!”
“Do I have to fucking do everything by myself?”
“I came up with a brilliant idea but I just have two bozos as my sidekick.”
“Mark should have just kept on taking drugs where he ran off to instead of coming here to ruin my plans.” She kept rambling angrily.
“Hey, you.” She finally said and I think it was directed at the man who was arrested. The one who lost the screws.
“I’ll stall him by pretending to feel apologetic for all the shits I’ve done so make sure to lose those nuts, if I don’t get my happy ending, no one else will. I’ll go to Philippines and by the time I’ve back, I’ll be hearing stories on how Eve was sent packing from the Coleman’s and how Jason tech fell.”
“The fall of Jason Corp, gosh I can write a book with such a badass line.”
The recording came to an end and everywhere became silent.
The Jury’s eyes were bulging with disbelief. Up until a minute ago, I bet she seemed like a person who was wronged in their eyes.
The crowd soon turned to whispers. Disappointments and disgust were visible on their faces as they scrutinised Alice.
“As we’ve all listened to the recording, Miss Alice had single handedly told the man she was giving the job all the things she had done probably to scare him on the kinds of things she could do to him if he doesn’t do his job properly well.”
“This means that she did in fact, blackmail Sophie fudge, kill Sophie’s nineteen year old brother and used her brother Mark who raped the nineteen year old as her ‘sidekick’.” The prosecutor said putting emphasis on the word sidekick.
The prosecutor finished and loud gasps erupted in the crowd once more.
I felt Eve tremble beside me and I squeezed her hands for comfort.
The crowd was growing more impatient and the judge was about to silence them when we all heard Alice’s laughter.
We all looked at her in confusion.
Has she finally lost her mind?
She got up from where she sat and was still laughing. She looked around until her eyes landed in my direction but she wasn’t looking at me, she was looking at Eve.
“Since I can’t lie now, I might as well say what I have to say.” She began and everyone looked at her with bulging eyes.
“So what!”
“You’re just a gold digger, you dared to come into our lives and steal what I’ve been wanting for years?”
“You just came from nowhere and yet you want to ride in fame and wealth?”
“Just looking at you disgust me!” She screamed.
“Ofcourse, your bastard baby will burn in hell, hahahaha” she laughed like a total maniac while Eve put her hands on her protruding belly as if to block the curse.
“You’re lower than I am but you dared to seduce the man I want?”
“Shame on you!”
“I don’t regret what I did!”
“My only regret is not killing you with my own hands!”
“That way it would have been a success and Jason would finally look my way!” She screamed even louder than before.
The crowd looked even more displeased with her words and the judge looked angry that she was swearing at a pregnant woman.
“You’re an animal!”
“A slut and you deserve to die!”
“You disgust me!” She screamed but it didn’t end there.
She soon directed her madness to the rest of the crowd.
“You all will die gruesome deaths!”
“You all disgust me!”
“Die!!!!” She screamed like a mad bitch that she is.
I looked at Mark who simply watched her in humiliation, I bet he was regretting that he didn’t stop her when he should.
I wasn’t fazed why the rubbish she was doing or the way she was screaming.
All that mattered to me was just Eve who was still shielding her stomach from the curses.
But surprisingly, Eve got up from where she sat and walked towards the front but far away from where Alice stood. Just close enough so that everyone could see her and Alice who had been screaming all along shut up her mouth and looked at her with disgust.
Just what is going on?
What is with this turn of events?
If I was told that Eve got up from her seat only to challenge Alice, I might believe it because Eve is getting really bolder these days but the fact that it’s playing right in front of me is shocking as it is.
“Just shut up for a moment!” Eve snapped and the whole courtroom became quiet and we all watched the drama unfold.
“One would think you have a very expensive speaker in your throat with the way you’re screaming like a mad person!” Eve began and a small gasp was heard in the crowd but nobody said anything.
“I really didn’t want to judge you.” Eve began to talk.
” What’s that bible verse again?”
“Judge not yet who judge doesn’t..
Whatever, something along the lines of that.”
“Anyways, I just realized that you’re a fucking fool and you’re just plain stupid.”
“You said I stole Jason from you?” Eve scoffed and smirked.
“How can I steal something that wasn’t yours to begin with?” Eve asked with raised brows.
“Jason is a human being, an individual with his own mind, thoughts and opinions, he chose me and not you so why can’t you get that into that thick skull of yours?” Eve snapped and even Alice seemed shocked.
I thought it was going to end there but that was just the starting point as I watched Eve size her up leaving everyone with their mouth hanging.
I’m sure the press has never witnessed something this bam before.
