Jason.
“Therefore, my client isn’t guilty of murder… But for self defence.” He stated.
I remained calm and patted Eve’s hands that gripped my arms strongly, no need to get worked up now because we’re going to see this to end.
Definitely.
The judge listened to everything word for word and acknowledged what the lawyer said before turning to the prosecutor for his defence.
“Your honour, I would like to call in Miss Alice for questioning.” The prosecutor stated after he stood up.
The judge quickly permitted and Alice was called up front.
As she sweared, I noticed that her appearance looked miserable and wrong. They really went all in for this concept.
Because her act was already effective and it was already catching the Jury’s sympathy.
Possibilities were endless, with the look on their faces, I was beginning to wonder if they didn’t believe that Alice was truly wronged and played by her older brother Mark.
Although they heard the recording, it could be an act of self defence.
After all, in the recording, she did say she was the one controlling Mark and Sophie but if the cards were played right, they could flip it all and put the blame on Mark.
Also, the CCTV video from the gay club that was obtained did seem like Alice was trying to clean up for Mark who drunkenly forced himself on the nineteen year old.
Plus, it turns out that Mark has been arrested for the use of drugs and also embezzlement so the trial wasn’t really going in his favour.
From his background, it did seem like Alice did it in self defence and it also seemed like it was simply a bit of a misunderstanding on my part.
But not to worry, I won’t let him be a scapegoat here not because I care about him but because I want Alice behind bars.
Who knows what she might try if they let her walk free.
“Miss Alice, did you or did you not blackmail Sophie Fudge to try to kill Mrs Eve Coleman by using her little brother as leverage over her?” The prosecutor started and Alice looked at him like a scared little bunny, her eyes were damp with tears as she slowly nodded.
“Y-yes I d-did.” She muttered, sounding miserable. The crowd nodded in approval knowing she was telling the truth.
“Apologies, your honour, no ill intention intended. ” The prosecutor said, indicating that his next question might be offending.
“Proceed.”
“Thankyou, your honour ” He nodded and faced Alice again.
“With the evidence presented to court, it was clear that Miss Alice and Mr Coleman used to have an explicit relationship together but they experience a fall out once Mr Coleman fell in love with someone else and so Miss Alice tried everything she could do to split them apart but seeing as they even grew more fonder, she tried to use her older brother Mark to do the job, asking him to stalk Mrs Eve Coleman day after day and sent those pictures with a red ink saying that if she didn’t stay away from Mr Coleman, she might end up dead.”
“As that idea didn’t work, she employed Miss Sophie Fudger who was at the moment an employee of the Coleman household to try to kill Eve who was unconscious in the hospital with an insulin overdose using her nineteen year old brother as leverage over her but that plan also proved null.”
“And then finally, She tries to kill Mr Coleman by getting him in a car accident but he miraculously survives.” The prosecutor explained and the crowd began to mumble amongst themselves.
“Silence!” The Bailiff says and everyone keeps quiet again.
“Now, miss Alice, you said you were blackmailed, do you mind enumerating what happened exactly?” The prosecutor asked monotonously.
Alice’s lawyer complained that the question was too tricky but the judge dismissed him and urged Alice to answer.
“I..”
“I f-forgot..” she said and I scoffed.
Really? That’s the best excuse she can give at the moment?
“I don’t know..”
“I really don’t remember.”
“I forgot..” she said in a voice so low and broken, it sounded like she was going to cry.
“I just.. I J-Just wanted Jason to love me..”
“I J-Just needed someone’s help so that Jason would see me too and he said he would help me out and that the best way would be to take e-eve out of the picture.” She explained messily.
I rolled my eyes and scoffed. I bet she thought if she kept this act up, she could drag this case longer and eventually, she would be released as not guilty but what to do?
I’m not letting her go scot-free.
It’s time I stopped her from catching the Jury’s sympathy and from getting a lighter sentence.
Because if all those work out, she can file a medical excuse and then she would be a free person but not under my watch.
“Do you swear that you’re telling the truth and only the truth?” The prosecutor asked as if taunting her.
“Remember that you can be charged with perjury for lying in the court of law.” The prosecutor said but she Still continued to lie blatantly. I bet she never thought that she would get caught.
The prosecutor’s lips curved into a smile and he asked.
“Can I bring another evidence into the court, your honour?” He asked.
“Objection!”
“Your honour, he can’t bring new evidence that has not been recorded before.” The lawyer says but the judge ignores him instead.
“Your honour, we just managed to secure this new evidence, this morning.” The prosecutor said lying but nobody needs to know that.
“Objection overruled.” The judge said and the evidence was presented to the court.
The prosecutor brought out the small recording device from his backpack.
“Miss Alice swore that she was telling the truth.” He said walking towards the computer and connected it, picked out the file and pressed play. Soon, Alice’s voice boomed over the speakers and she was exposed. I smirked in victory.
Just who does she think she is trying to jeopardise my hard work.
