Chapter 129

Book:The Virgin Wife Published:2025-3-31

Eve.
Max’s wedding.
I sat down far away from the crowd as I stuffed myself with a lot of food.
It wasn’t that hard anyways. I only had to decide whether to eat small chops or fruits while I watched Ethan and Max go around greeting their invited guests from where I sat.
Jason on the other hand was also greeting people too. Probably because he’s an important figure in the society or maybe because he’s almost like a celebrity or perhaps the press conferences in the last few weeks have stirred all the unwanted attention.
Anyways, It doesn’t really matter.
The only point is that a lot of reporters are here and a lot of important people are here too.
Max’s family are here even though they don’t really support him being gay, I still don’t get the use of them coming anyways.
Ethan’s family are here too.
In short, they are both from influential families and yet they never bothered to show it.
I mean, I’ve always known that Max was from a wealthy home, not as wealthy as Jason’s but comfortable at least.
Ethan, on the other hand, surprised me with the amount of influential guests he has here.
I stopped looking at the two grooms and looked around to see if there’s anyone else that I know.
I spotted Mom and Grandma Nini talking to some other women and I also spotted Isaiah trying to make friends.
Well, technically, it looks like he’s flirting rather than making friends.
As I looked around, my eyes landed at the entrance and that..
My Mom and dad?
What the hell are they doing here?
Ugh!
I got up from where I sat and waddled to where they were now seated.
“Just what are you doing here?” I asked with raised brows.
“Is that how to greet your parents?” My dad answered and I frowned.
Whenever I see these people, I always feel angry and disgusted. They just won’t ever change.
You know that saying – there are some people that can never change from their bad ways and blah blah..
Well, something along the lines of that.
The exact people they’re referring to in that saying are my parents.
“You should leave, you were not invited.” I said to them and my dad scoffed.
My mom’s eyes were on my protruding belly and I was waiting for her to say something rude but she simply stared at me before taking her eyes back to my stomach.
“How did you get in here anyways?”
“This is an invitation only wedding, even the reporters over there have invites.” I said raising my voice a little but not drawing attention to us.
“Isaiah forgot his invitation.” My mom managed to say and I sighed.
Well, that explains it.
Every invitation says that you can bring a plus one which explains why they’re both here but what I don’t understand is why they chose to come.
“How could you not invite us to this wedding?” My mom asked and I frowned.
“Why should I do that?” I asked, confused by her outrageous question.
“Because we’re family.” Dad answered for her and I scoffed.
“That doesn’t explain why I should invite you to my friend’s wedding.” I said putting emphasis on the word friends.
They sighed unsure of what to say.
They probably had nothing to say.
I’m sure this is just another attempt of theirs to approach Jason since they’ve not been able to do so for a while now.
“You should leave.” I said quietly so as to not draw attention because I was beginning to get angry now.
I don’t see any reason why they should be here in the first place and I really don’t want them to ruin Max’s happy day.
“No.” Dad said and I raised my brows.
“You should leave.” I said with gritted teeth.
“That’s no way to talk to your father.” Mom said and I ignored her repeating my words from earlier.
“No!” Dad snapped, drawing attention to us.
I groaned angrily before I snapped.
“I would have thought that you could do better than jail bait.” I said, directing the question to my mother and she looked at me with wide eyes.
I rolled my eyes and sat down opposite them, I wasn’t going to waste my time entertaining people like them. As far as I know, these people are no longer my family. And with the way my mood swings come and go due to pregnancy, I didn’t need them to add fuel to the fire.
Everybody’s eyes were on us and the hall became silent.
They were all waiting for the drama to unfold.
Max, Ethan and Jason quickly came to where we were seated while dad glared at me with anger in his eyes. He probably didn’t want to snap in front of all those people but I really didn’t care.
All these years, I’ve never actually stood up to him. I’ve always done whatever they wanted and even those times I’ve gone to visit them, I’ve only been cranky and said a few words. I didn’t actually say a lot of things that would make me feel relieved afterwards.
“I’m going to need you both to leave, you’re disrupting my wedding.” Max said sternly the moment he got to where we were.
“Are you talking to me?” Dad asked, rolling his eyes.
“Then again, your kind have always been known to be uncivilised.” He mumbled but since the hall was silent we all heard him anyway.
A few of the audience gasped while others looked at him in shock.
Max and Ethan looked like they were gravely offended and so was I.
I’m not going to let my homophobic ass of a father ruin today and that’s why I got up from where I sat down to put him in his place but Max already beat me to it.
I should trust Max to not back down from a fight.
“I really don’t think you should be bringing my sexuality into matters like this when you look like you barely survived a food shortage.” Max snapped and dad got up in annoyance.
“How dare you?, How dare you?”
He roared angrily.
