Alice.
I was currently at the station for questioning.
Apparently, that stupid Sophie ratted me out.
I should have known it would come to this, after all, I’m the one who caused Dwayne to die.
If I didn’t drag him back forcefully, he might still be alive.
Now Mark is also in jail due to my carelessness.
No!
Due to his own stupidity, there are tons of guys he could have had sex with, why would he try to have sex with Dwayne forcefully.
Ugh! It’s all so complicated.
But the good thing is that despite the fact that Sophie mentioned my name, there’s no evidence that connects it to me.
She was caught in the act which is why she’s currently locked up but there’s no evidence to prove that I actually asked her to do all that she did.
Mark however, his DNA was found on Dwayne’s fingernail because Dwayne must have scratched him on impulse so he can wiggle free from his hold so there’s nothing I can do about that.
Though, he’ll simply be charged for rape but not for murder because the cause of Dwayne’s death is the impact of the glass table he hit his head on.
I sighed heavily for the umpteenth time, I’ve been sitting here all this while but nobody is even sparing me a glance not attending to me.
How rude!
“Miss Alice?” A young female detective called my name and I looked up to see her face.
“Yeah?” I answered.
“I’m detective Dave and I’m in charge of the case.” She said and I raised my brows.
What kind of girl bears a boy’s name?
“Detective Dave?” I asked to be sure that I didn’t hear her wrong.
“I get that look alot but that’s not why you’re here so get moving!” She snapped and I frowned.
How rude!
I’m here for questioning not as a suspect.
What happened to innocent until proven guilty?
Ugh!
I got up from where I sat and followed her to the office where she entered.
She gestured for me to sit down on the chair right opposite her and I did as I was told.
“I’m sure you’re aware of why you’re here.” She said as a matter of factly and I scoffed.
“No, I don’t know.” I said with a smirk.
“Okay.” She chuckled.
“You’re here for questioning.” She said, smirking back at me.
I know that already!
I rolled my eyes at her and looked away.
“You’re a suspect in the attempted murder case of Mrs Eve Coleman.” She said and I giggled.
“Suspect?” I scoffed.
“Why didn’t you handcuff me then?” I grimaced and she sighed.
“Where were you on the day of the accident?” She asked, ignoring my question.
“I was at home.” I said and she nodded, writing it down.
“With who?” She asked and I raised my brows.
“What do you mean with who?” I asked with a slightly raised voice.
“You have to have an alibi.” She said and I shook my head before nodding.
“With my brother.” I said.
“The one in jail?” She said putting emphasis on the word JAIL.
“Yeah.” I shrugged.
“Sophie said you gave her the insulin to inject in Eve who laid unconscious in the hospital.” She said and my eyes widened.
That bitch said that too?
What a snitch!
“Who?, me?” I said feigning ignorance.
“Did you or did you not give her the insulin to inject Eve?” She asked sternly and I looked away.
“I’m here to answer your questions, okay, you can’t force me to answer what I don’t want to answer!” I yelled angrily and she smirked.
“Miss Alice, I’d like you to know that your brother was questioned on this matter before you and his answer is different from yours which means your Alibi isn’t guaranteed.”
“How can you prove you were at home with your brother, if your said brother wasn’t at home with you that day?” She said with a smug smile and I fumed in anger.
I wished I could wipe that smug look on her face with a slap or smack.
“What did Mark say?” I asked and she ignored me.
How dare she?
“What did my brother say?” I asked again and she sighed.
“It doesn’t matter what he said, all that matters is that your Alibi doesn’t match.”
“Anyways, this questioning is over, you’ll be asked to come in later this week for further questioning.” She said, getting up and I got up too.
I wasn’t really enjoying being told what to do by some underpaid police officer but right now, I’m the one who would be at loss if I tried something funny.
After all, the moment my father learnt that I was asked to come to the station for questioning and that Mark was arrested, he said he had disowned me and that mother raised two failures.
I expected him to try to cover this up at least but right now, I’m on my own with no connection or back up.
And I can’t think of any one to blame but Jason and Eve.
Right from the beginning, I’ve always sworn that they’ll never have their happy ending but I have derailed from the part that I wished to take.
I was so caught up in doing other stuff that I forgot the cause of my misfortune in the first place.
“Let me remind you that you can’t run away abroad and that you’ll be watched twenty four hours so you better stop thinking of trying any funny business.” Detective Dave warned with a stern voice and I rolled my eyes in response.
We both left the office and I walked out of the station but not as a free woman.
I could feel the scrutinising eyes of two police men on my back.
They were far away from me and pretending to be discreet but they weren’t doing the best they could.
A thought soon crossed my mind.
Instead of being watched like this, since I already have blood on my hands, I might as well, get more.
I quickly brought out my phone and dialled Jason’s number.
“Let’s meet.” I said the moment he picked up, not even giving him time to say anything.
I hung up and sent him the address of where we should meet.
That place signifies our beginning so it might as well commemorate our end.
