Jason.
He had a smug look on his face despite the fact that he wasn’t here as a witness nor as a victim but as an assailant and as a suspect.
He was still smiling and it gave me the creeps.
It was like I was staring face to face with a psychopath.
Well, I wouldn’t be surprised if they run a test on him and he’s actually one.
“If it isn’t the privileged son of a bitch.” He said loudly to me and I groaned in annoyance.
“And if it isn’t the entitled prick.” I said not backing down from a fight.
“Feisty, aren’t we?” He laughed and i rolled my eyes in response.
The police officers who were walking behind him pushed him and dragged him to the cell to lock him up.
“Can I talk to him?” I asked detective Dave and she nodded in response.
They brought him out of the cell and took him to the dark room for investigation.
“Funny how we’re meeting this way, don’t you think?” I smirked and she chuckled.
“I won’t be here for long.” He said with all confidence and I laughed.
“No, you’ll be here for long.” I said.
“You’ll be here till you die.” I said and he chuckled.
“You think you’re all it, don’t you?”
“Handsome, smart and you’re even rich too, but guess what?”
“All your family will die because of you.”
“Because of your pride and your ego.” He said and spat on me.
I brought out my handkerchief from my pocket and used it to clean my face.
“I don’t have time to argue with you.”
“You’re not worth my time.” I said getting up from the chair I sat on.
“But don’t worry, you won’t be lonely here.”
“Your sister will be joining you soon.”
“Have fun in hell, Mark.” I said throwing him the handkerchief and walking out of the room.
“Is there a way to bring Alice in too?” I asked detective Dave on my way out and she shook her head.
“Except there’s new evidence, although we’re going to bring her in for questioning.”
“But I can assure you that Mr Mark isn’t going to be released anytime.” She said and I shrugged.
“I know that, he’s supposed to be in jail for embezzlement of funds and a lot of fraud cases so rape and assault just added to his charges.”
“And I’m pretty sure murder would be added too.” I said, smirking before leaving the station.
I left the station and took a cab to Ethan’s place where I left Eve.
I was glad to find Ethan home when I got there this time around.
Also, the mood in the house was a bit different from earlier.
Max seemed to be in a better mood and he wasn’t avoiding Ethan anymore.
I’m guessing they made up and I’m glad they did.
Everything is starting to fall in place.
Just one more.
One more miracle.
Once Alice is in jail, I can focus on my proposal to Eve and plan our wedding probably so she won’t be too heavy to put on a wedding gown.
Left to me alone, I would prefer to marry her in the presence of our family alone and the priest but that’s how we got married the first time so it wouldn’t be nice to have a repeat.
This first real marriage with her should be loud and lavish.
And I can’t wait to officially call her my wife.
I mean she’s my wife but it’s not the same.
Haha.
We had dinner at Ethan’s and soon returned home.
Mom did the cake as promised and Eve was touched.
I was glad to see her happy and I hoped that the next few days would be the same.
She would throw less tantrums and be happier than usual.
I really miss seeing my happy and jovial Eve. It’s hard to deal with grumpy Eve all the time.
As we laid in bed, I was so lost in thought that I didn’t even notice Eve who was staring intently at me.
“These days, you’re always lost in thought, are you sure everything is fine?” Eve asked in a concerned voice and I smiled.
“I’m alright.”
“Nothing’s wrong, I just can’t help but think about how lucky I am to have you.” I said and she chuckled.
“You’re lucky, that’s for sure. It’s not easy to snag a beautiful woman like myself.” She teased me and I smiled.
“I couldn’t agree more, you’re so pretty I can’t take my eyes off you.”
“I mean, your attractiveness is so much that you could get sued because of it.” I teased and she was already a laughing mess.
“You’re so hilarious.” She said and I smirked.
“But you love me, don’t you?” I smirked and she nodded.
“I love you with all of my being.” She said and I smiled.
“I love you with my soul.” I said and she chuckled.
“I love you all.” She said and I laughed.
I sat up from the bed where I laid and she did too.
” I’m guessing today’s the day we finally debate on who loves who the most?” I said challenging her and she smirked.
“Let’s do this.” She said and I shook my head laughing.
“Okay.” I said.
“My heart beats for you.” She began and I laughed.
“That’s common.” I said and smirked.
“You distract me but I’m distracted without you.” I said and she bursted out in laughter.
“No fair, that’s a song, it’s against the rules.” She said amidst the laughter and I smirked.
“Nobody said anything about rules.” I smirked and she shook her head.
“All of me loves all of you.” She said with a smug smile and I sighed.
I knew what she was doing but I wasn’t backing down.
I know a lot of romantic songs I can use to win this game right now.
“I..” i was about to counter her when she laid back down on the bed.
“I’m sleepy.” She said smiling and I laughed before lying down too.
We moved closer to each other until we were very much close to each other and there was no space in between.
In fact, we were practically in each other’s face and breathing in each other’s breath but we couldn’t care less.
Not when she’s in my arms or I’m in hers.
We fell asleep like that, in each other’s warm embrace.
