Eve.
By the time we got home, it was already late in the evening and I was famished. I felt like I could eat a whole food course in fact.
“Jason, I’m hungry.” I groaned as we got out of the car.
“We’re home already, I’m just mom made a lot of food so you’ll get to eat lots.” Jason said and I sighed.
“You’re trying to starve me, aren’t you?” I huffed in annoyance.
“Starve you how?” Jason raised his brows.
“By not giving me food.” I said quietly and he chuckled.
“By not giving me food.” He repeated what I said in a mimic.
“Whose fault is it that we’re late?” He asked, taking my hands in his as we walked inside the mansion.
“Because of you, we ate at four different restaurants before coming home, I have never eaten so much food in my entire life.” He said and i scoffed.
“Indeed.” I mumbled as we entered the house.
The house was dark and it gave some kind of eerie feeling.
“Is everybody out?” I asked Jason who was in front of me now but he didn’t say anything.
“Let me switch on the lights.” I said the moment we got into the living room.
And the moment I switched on the lights, I jumped in shock and fear.
“Welcome home!” Everyone screamed with delight.
And although it was a happy moment, I could hear but tear up.
“Y-you..” I felt a lump in my throat the moment I tried to say something.
“Eve.” Jason called quietly and that’s when I started to cry.
“You scared the living daylight out of me.”
“I was so scared.” I said, bawling my eyes.
Everybody seemed shocked by my sudden outburst and they all began to apologise.
“Sorry, we weren’t trying to scare you.”
“We’re sorry.” They apologised and I sobbed more.
“Don’t apologise, it’s a happy day.” I said but I was still crying.
“You don’t want them to apologise but you’re crying?, Stick to one thing.” Jason joked and I shot him a look.
“The highlight of today is steak.” Mom said and the moment she said it, I stopped crying and smiled in Glee.
“Is that true?” I couldn’t hide my excitement.
“How did she go from being sad to being happy in a few seconds?” Ethan asked in confusion.
“Beats me.” Max said and we all walked into the dinning room.
“Welcome home Eve.” Grandma Nini said once we were all sitting.
“Thankyou.” I mumbled quietly.
The helpers began to serve the food and soon the table was filled with all kinds of side dishes.
My mouth watered at the sight of those delicious meals.
“Are those FF?” I asked and everyone at the table looked at me in confusion.
“What’s ff?” Max was the one who asked.
“French fries.” I said as a matter of factly and they shook their heads in disbelief.
“They are crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside.” I said as I looked at the fries like a predator ready to feast on its prey.
“Just eat.” Max said with a stern voice.
I ignored him and took a bunch of fries from my plate and began to eat them. I stuffed them all in my mouth like I hadn’t gone to four different restaurants earlier in the day.
“Eat slowly Eve, you’ll choke.” Mom said in concern but I paid no attention to her.
This meal was the best amongst the ones I’ve heard today.
“There’s something Eve and I would like to say.” Jason said, drawing everyone’s attention from whatever side talks they were having amongst themselves.
“Say it then.” Grandma Nini urged him.
“We’re..” Jason was about to say something when I felt the urge to puke.
I got up from where I sat down immediately and ran to the closest bathroom before puking out all the meals I’ve heard today.
“Eve!” Jason yelled as he followed behind me.
“That’s why I told you to slow down.” Mom said as she followed Jason to where I was still puking.
Once I was done puking out my intestines, I washed my face and cleaned my mouth.
“Are you okay?” Jason asked in concern and I nodded in response.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Jason asked again and I smiled before nodding once more.
“I’m fine.” I mumbled and then he held me and took me back to the dinning where everyone else had stopped eating and they all had worried looks on their faces.
“Are you alright?” Ethan asked the moment we came back to the dinning.
“One might think someone would steal her food with the way she was rushing it.” Max scoffed.
“Are you sure you don’t need to go to the hospital?” Jade asked, getting up from his seat.
“Is it indigestion?” Ethan asked again.
“Are you okay Eve?” Grandma Nini asked.
“I’m fine.” I whispered quietly and sat down back on my seat but the smell of the food was no longer appetising.
“She’s fine.” Jason said before anyone could ask me another question.
“What were you going to say before you left?” Grandma Nini asked, reminding Jason.
“We’re expecting.” Jason said proudly.
“Expecting what?” Max was the one to ask with a look of confusion evident on his face.
“You’re expecting?” Grandma Nini asked excitedly.
“Oh my goodness, that’s amazing.” Mom said happily.
“Congratulations Eve.” Ethan said but Max was still confused.
“I’m pregnant.” I said quietly to Max who was still confused.
“Oh my goodness, I’m gonna be a godfather?” Max said getting up from his seat and coming to give me a hug.
“Get away from me.” I said with an eye roll and he chuckled.
“Whatever.” He said before going back to his seat.
“Oh my goodness, that’s amazing.” Ethan said happily again.
“I’m going to be a godfather!” Max said excitedly, making everyone laugh.
“Once would think you’re the one that’s pregnant with the way you’re reacting.” Jason said to Max who scoffed in response.
“This calls for a celebration.” Grandma Nini said.
And we celebrated all night long.
Well, to be precise, they celebrated because I simply sat and watched them drink and dance since I was too tired to do all those things.
Regardless of that, it was a great night overall.
