The moment the doctor said that we barely escaped having a miscarriage, I sighed in relief.
I can’t believe I almost lost my first child even without meeting him or her.
What could I possibly say?
That my weird cravings caused my miscarriage.
I was really glad that I didn’t lose my baby.
I don’t know how I am going to survive knowing that I lost something very dear to me.
Even though we hadn’t spent much time together yet and it was literally only a few days before that I found out that I was pregnant.
Regardless of all these, I’m glad that I’m not going to lose my pregnancy and I’m going to make sure that I’m more careful with whatever I eat and whatever I drink.
“Do you want to ask any other questions?” The doctor asked and I shook my head.
There are some questions I would like to ask but I’m not sure on how to bring them up because it’s a bit embarrassing.
“Are you sure I can ask anything?” Jason who sat beside me asked and the doctor nodded in response giving Jason a small smile.
“Can we still have sex?” Jason asked and I smacked him hard.
How could he ask her such a personal question?
So embarrassing!
“Ouch!” He winced in pain.
“Why would you ask her such a question?” I frowned and he chuckled loudly
“I need to know that’s why.” He said with a smug look on his face.
“But that’s..” I tried to say but he cut me off instead.
But that’s too personal?
Is it right to talk about our sex life to my obstetrician?
“So Doctor, can we still have sex?” Jason asked again to the doctor who had a look of amusement on her face.
I sighed heavily and rolled my eyes in defeat as I awaited her answer.
“There’s nothing to be embarrassed of, Mrs Coleman.”
“Many couples have asked the same question and even if it might sound a bit personal, it’s also something that you can ask a professional like myself.” The doctor said and I felt a bit relieved.
“You can have sex with your wife sir.” She said to Jason who had a look of triumph on his face.
Is he really excited about this?
I chuckled and shook my head.
“You can have sex with your wife but I would suggest you do it when the pregnancy is past three months.” The doctor said and Jason’s look of triumph fell.
“Seriously?” I scoffed at him.
“I was excited.” He mumbled but we heard him anyway.
“It’s just my suggestion anyways because I believe that’s when it’s most favourable to you.”
“As of then, her pregnancy would be more stable and the chances of it becoming a miscarriage would be slim.” She explained and I nodded. But Jason wouldn’t let it go.
“Can you explain in a way that’s more simple?” Jason asked and she nodded.
“To simply put it, what I’m trying to say is that, for now, the foetus is yet to be completely formed. As I showed you on the screen earlier, your baby is only the size of a gummy bear and it’s still in fluid form.” The doctor said and Jason nodded in understanding.
“The neutral tube which is the brain, the digestive system, the heart and circulatory system are only just starting to form so it’s best she refrains from anything that could hinder those processes.” The doctor said and Jason sighed deeply.
“So no sex till after the first trimester?” Jason asked and she smiled.
“Exactly.” She said,
“But we can do other stuff?” Jason asked and I smacked him again.
“Can you stop?” I whisper-yelled and he frowned.
“What?” He groaned loudly.
“Stop asking those weird questions.” I warned.
“It’s fine really, you can do other stuff.” The doctor said,
“I mean like hand jobs, blow jobs, rimming, eating out.” Jason tried to explain to her and I pinched him hard on his lap.
“You can do all those things, sex wouldn’t be a safer option than those anyways.” The doctor said, chuckling.
How is she okay with all these questions?
And what about rimming?
We’ve never done all these before so why is he suddenly asking about it?
Ugh! So annoying.
“Can we go now?” I asked immediately before Jason brought up another embarrassing question.
“Yes, you can see the nurse on your way out for the medicines that you’ll be needing.” The doctor said and I nodded before getting up from my seat.
“Won’t you get up?” I asked with a frown to Jason who was still sitting on the chair.
“Okay.” He huffed and we left the doctor’s office.
“Why did you ask her such a question?” I asked in a slightly raised voice.
“I was curious, that’s all.” He said and looked away.
“Curious about what?” I asked with raised brows.
“I mean you don’t really expect me to keep this in for the next nine months, do you?” He said, gesturing to his lower region, making me laugh in the process.
“No, I don’t.” I said calmly with a smile on my face.
We walked towards the counter to collect the drugs from the nurse whom we were asked to meet.
“I miss you so much, it won’t be so bad to want to have a taste of you, would it?” Jason asked and I laughed.
What kind of question is this?
I was going to reply but the nurse at the counter cleared her throat as if to remind us that she was right there and we should refrain from saying any dirty thing right in front of her.
“Here’s the drugs sir.” The nurse said stretching the nylon of drugs to Jason who smiled awkwardly and collected it before paying so we could get out of there.
“When we get home, I’m going to treat you to something delicious.” I said to Jason once we were in the car and he nodded and smiled.
“I can’t wait to get home.” I heard him mumble quietly and I laughed.
This is exactly how I want things to be.
Quiet and peaceful.
