Eve..
“Oh Ethan!” I said the moment I saw him squatting by the toilet stall.
I pulled him into my embrace and he sobbed softly.
“Let it out..” I whispered as I rubbed his back in circles.
After a few minutes, he stopped crying and pulled away.
“Are you alright?” I asked and he nodded.
He got up from his position and stood properly.
“Should we take a walk?” He asked with a sad smile.
I nodded and got up too.
The campsite was quite big so it was easy to walk around.
There were a lot of campers too, some people came alone, a few of them were couples and a few others were families of four or more. Most people came with their kids and the kids ran around the campfires giggling and laughing at whatever. I found them quite adorable. I noticed Ethan staring intently at a particular blonde boy who looked like he was about four years old.
The young boy was the only one who wasn’t running around the campfire, he simply sat down a bit far away from the others and stared at the fire. Maybe he found it interesting?
“Do you want to have a kid someday?” Ethan suddenly asked, not breaking eye contact from the said boy.
“Uhmm..” I stuttered as I looked away from the young boy and looked at Ethan.
“Maybe?” I said, unsure of what to say.
“Have you and Jason ever spoken about having kids?” He asked again and I shook my head in response.
“What if you get pregnant?” Ethan asked and I laughed.
“Is that what you’re bothered about?” I was curious to know the reason behind his questions.
“Not really.” He said quietly.
“Do you mind me asking what’s wrong?” I was confused.
“Ask away.” He said as he turned to face me and smiled. But the smile didn’t reach his eyes. His eyes were sad like something was bothering him so much.
“Should we walk towards that side?” I asked as I pointed to a field of flowers that a few people were checking out.
I figured since a lot of people weren’t there, it would be better to talk there.
It’s definitely not because I saw it earlier and wanted to come here with Jason. Haha.
“Sure.” He mumbled and walked away leaving me to follow behind him.
“So what exactly is going on?” I asked as we walked towards the field.
“I thought you might have an idea already.” He mumbled and I shook my head.
“You both are really close, are you saying you really don’t know?” He asked with a hint of doubt in his voice.
“Max doesn’t tell me everything.” I replied.
“I don’t believe that.” He said truthfully.
We were in the field of flowers now.
“Max doesn’t tell me everything.” I repeated.
“He only tells me a few things.” I answered truthfully.
He hummed in response and continued to stare at nothing in particular. We both stood there in silence lost in our own words.
“Don’t you find flowers intriguing?” I asked, breaking the silence.
“And why’s that?” He answered with a question.
“Why’s what?” I smirked.
“Why do you find them intriguing?” He asked.
“Oh..”
“You’ll never know what flower a bud is going to turn into.” I said and he hummed softly.
“It’s sometimes like a human relationship.” I said.
” When you see it for the first time, you’re curious to know what kind of flower it is, so you keep checking, watering it and nurturing it just so it would bloom and when it blooms, it’s so beautiful that you feel satisfied that all the time you used on it didn’t go to waste.” I explained.
“Too bad it withers fast.” He said sadly.
“Are you..”
“Do you..”
My voice trailed off.
I wasn’t sure on how I was going to ask the question.
“No.” He said, making me raise my brows.
“No?” I mumbled.
“I’m not breaking up with Max, I would never.” He said smiling.
“Oh..” I giggled in embarrassment.
“Let’s go back to the others, shall we?” He said and I nodded.
Soon, We got back to where we set up camp only to find Jason and Max arguing about something while Jade and Patricia made out.
“Well, someone had a good time.” I said loud enough for them to hear me.
Jade and Patricia stopped kissing and laughed awkwardly while Jason and Max couldn’t stop arguing about whatever shit they were arguing about.
“Can I steal him for a moment?” I asked Max who pouted before nodding.
I scoffed and dragged Jason away.
I could see Ethan sitting where Jason was sitting before and holding Max’s hands. Well, that’s progress.
Even if I didn’t get to know what really happened, I’m glad they were able to resolve it.
“Let’s have our own private time, shall we?” I smiled as I dragged Jason back to the field of flowers.
“Woah!” Jason marvelled at the sight.
“Should we come here next time?” I asked.
“Just the two of us?” I said and he nodded.
“Just the two of us.” He chuckled before dragging me and running around the field.
We stopped running to catch our breaths.
“Max and I made a bet.” Jason said while panting.
“Bet?” I asked breathlessly.
“Yeah, tomorrow, we’ll go Cycling, bowling and fruit picking. Whoever loses will give the winner a ticket to the BTS concert.” Jason said and breathed heavily.
“You both can afford it, so why the bet?” I asked as I couldn’t understand the need for the bet.
“It’s more fun that way.” Jason smirked and I shook my head and laughed.
“Can I have this dance?” He suddenly asked, surprising me.
“Dance?, Here?, With no music?” I laughed at his ridiculous question.
“There’s music in my heart.” He said and I cringed.
“So cheesy.” I giggled but I accepted nevertheless.
Nothing beats dancing under the moonlight with the one you love after all.
