Chapter 67

Eve.
“Jason, you don’t have to do this if you don’t want to, you know.” I said as I helped him load our stuff into the van.
“I want to.” He said lifting up the cooler into the van.
“Thank you for letting me come along.” Jade said as he placed his bag in the trunk.
“It’s fine. Who’s your plus one by the way?” Jason asked him.
“You’ll see.” Jade smirked and entered into the van.
“You’ll see.” Jason mimicked and went to the driver’s seat. I rolled my eyes and got into the front seat.
We were on our way to a campsite.
A few days ago, Max said he wanted to go camping with me, I told Jason about it and he said he would come along and so Max decided to make it a double date and asked Ethan to come along too.
Jason went around bragging to jade about it and jade asked to come along too. Jason told him to bring a plus one and he said he would but we have no idea who his plus is.
We arrived at the campsite and I marvelled at the sight. It is very wide and so pretty.
I love nature.
We parked the van and got out with Jason and Jade carrying our stuff while I helped them carry their bags.
When we got to the main place, Max and Ethan had already set up camp.
“You’re early.” Max said in a sarcastic tone.
“I know right..” Jason sneered.
“You guys should behave yourselves.” I warned and went to talk to Ethan.
He’s been quiet for a few days. Something seems to be bothering him.
“Ethan, are you alright?” I asked since he was spacing out once again.
“I’m fine.” He said quietly.
“Okay.” I said since I didn’t want to push it.
I left their tent and strolled around a bit, the area was quite big and very neat so I’m guessing there aren’t any bugs or something.
As i was going back to the others, I saw someone standing with bags and I assumed that was Jade’s plus one.
She looked familiar, I’m guessing she works at Jason’s company.
“Patricia?” I called her name and she smiled at me.
“I hope it’s okay that I came.” She said quietly.
“Yeah, it is. I didn’t want to be the only girl here, they’re all acting like kids.” I said smiling and she nodded.
I dragged her along to where the others were only to meet them arguing again.
I rolled my eyes and sat down on one of the stools and gestured to Patricia to sit down too.
“Here.” I said, giving her a can of soda that I grabbed from the cooler beside me.
“Thankyou.” She said quietly.
She seemed very nervous and shy unlike the way she looked at work.
At work, she seemed like a confident type or perhaps that was all just a facade. Not that I’m saying she’s pretending but I’m just surprised to see a nervous Patricia.
“It’s not that way.” Max yelled for the nth time at Jason.
“Do it then, if you’re so smart.” Jason huffed, threw the screwdriver on the floor and walked away.
“Really?” Max hissed and Jason simply ignored him.
Are they not going to grow up?
Max managed to fix up the tent without Jason’s help and he wore a frown on his face afterwards.
We all sat around the campfire in a circle.
With Max on my left and Jason on my right, Ethan by Jason’s side, Jade facing me and Patricia at the end.
“Nothing beats s’mores at a campsite.” Jade said to lighten up the mood but everyone seemed to be sulking about something.
“Let’s play truth or dare.” I suggested.
“Isn’t that a kids game?” Max asked, and I smacked him.
“Ouch!” He winced in pain.
“Shut up.” I mumbled frowning and he pouted. Jason laughed and I shot him a look too.
“The rules are simple, if you don’t answer or you tell a lie, you’ll have to drink alcohol.” I said and they all agreed.
We spinned the bottle and it ended up at Patricia.
“Truth or dare.” Max said.
“Dare.” She giggled.
“Feisty!” Max teased.
“I dare you to give jade a lap dance.” Max said and she did.
Jade was blushing so hard it made me laugh.
We spinned the bottle again and it landed on Ethan this time around.
“Truth or dare?” Jade asked.
“Truth.” Ethan said.
“What’s your favourite sex position?” Jade asked and we all exclaimed.
“I don’t have one.” He said killing the vibe.
“That’s not fair, you lied, you have to drink.” Jade said, passing him the cup which he drank from in one go.
“Is Ethan alright?” I whispered to Max who was by my side.
“Leave him be.” Max shrugged.
We spinned the bottle again and it landed on me this time.
“Truth or dare?” Patricia asked me.
“Truth.” I grinned.
“Have you both had sex yet?” She asked, making me blush in embarrassment.
“Yes…” I mumbled quietly.
Jason poked me and winked at me which made me blush even more.
We spinned the bottle again and this time, it landed on max.
“Truth or dare?” Ethan asked this time around.
“Truth..” Max shrugged.
“Did you mean what you said earlier today?” Ethan asked and there was tension in the air.
This wasn’t a casual truth or dare. There was something more to it.
“I told you it’s not like that.” Max snapped.
“Then it’s what?” Ethan asked in a slightly raised voice.
“You don’t understand!” Max hissed.
“Then make me!” Ethan yelled then got up in anger walking away from the campfire.
“What’s going on max?” I asked but he looked away. With Ethan gone, it was awkward.
“I’ll go talk to him, try to talk to Max and act civil.” I warned.
“It’s not me, it’s him.” Jason frowned.
“For me?, Please..” I pouted and he nodded in defeat.
“Thanks.” I smiled knowing I had won before getting up and going to find Ethan who scurried off to God knows where.
“Ethan!” I called out his name but I didn’t get a response.
I was already close to the restroom when I heard some soft sniffles. Is he crying?
I moved closer to where the sound was coming from and indeed it was Ethan, and he was crying.
“Oh Ethan!” I said and pulled him to my embrace.
