Chapter 63

Book:The Virgin Wife Published:2025-3-31

Eve..
“If it isn’t the famous Eve..” Alice said with her voice laced with venom.
“What do you mean?” I asked frowning.
“Ohh… You know what I mean.” She said in a sly voice.
“Whatever.” I hissed.
“Have fun.. I’m going to see Jason..” she said in a singsong voice walking away before I could say anything.
I got into the elevator feeling my stomach churn. I had this unsettling feeling in my stomach.
“Is Jason still seeing Alice?” I couldn’t help but wonder and that thought lingered in my head all throughout the day.
Ethan kept asking me at intervals what the problem was but I couldn’t tell him knowing that he would tell Max and Max would snap.
And I wanted to trust Jason.
I needed to trust him..
But can I trust him?
He didn’t tell me anything about him and Alice, are they still having sex despite him falling for me?
Or was Max right and sex with me wasn’t that good?
I know we’ve only had sex once but still..
I huffed in annoyance. I was starting to feel upset.
Is that it? Sex with me wasn’t good?
It was already past eight in the evening. And I was waiting for Jason to get here but he was running late.
“Eve, you’re going to get wrinkles.” Ethan said as we stood outside after closing the cafe.
“Sorry.” I said and tried to ease up.
“Is anything the matter?”
“Ever since you got back from Jason’s, you’ve been acting weird.” Ethan said and I huffed again.
“The thing is…” I was about to say something when we heard Jason’s car honk.
“Well, that’s my cue to leave, see you tomorrow.” Ethan said and went to his car immediately.
I sighed deeply as I left where I stood and got into the car but Jason wasn’t there.
“Where’s Jason?” I asked jade who was driving.
“He’s probably at home now.” Jade said, making me frown.
“Didn’t he say he’ll pick me?” I said quietly and hissed.
We drove home and I got out of the car in anger. I stomped my feet into the house and was ready to unleash my anger on Jason.
But my face fell the moment I saw the people in the living room.
My family.
“What are they doing here?” I asked in a high pitched voice since I was angry from before.
“And why didn’t you pick me up?” I asked, feeling upset.
“Calm down Eve, mom asked me to bring them.” Jason came to meet me and put his hands on my shoulders.
“She wanted us to have a family dinner.” Jason said softly which made me relax a bit.
Soon, dinner was ready and we all sat down around the longer dining table.
The silence in the dinning was an awkward one.
“Isaiah, I heard you’re an artist.” Mom said, breaking the awkward silence.
“Yeah, Isaiah is more of an artistic one.” My dad answered for him.
“I’m sure Isaiah can speak for himself.” I mumbled but loud enough for everyone at the table to hear.
“I’m not an artist, I just paint a little.” Isaiah said quickly.
“That’s nice.” Jason added and put his hands on mine.
“Now that you and Eve are together, are we getting grandkids?.” My own mother asked Jason, making me frown.
“That’s a personal question.” I said directly to her.
“Oh.. I didn’t..” her voice trailed off.
“Eve, she’s just trying to talk to you.” Isaiah said, making me snap.
“Talk to me?” I scoffed.
“You..” I was about to say something but Jason squeezed my hands to shut me up.
“Eve is just feeling under the weather.” Jason said with a soft expression and the dinner continued with no one directing any questions to me.
I couldn’t eat because I didn’t have any appetite so I kept poking at my food instead.
The dinner took longer than expected but I was glad that it was over. I went to our shared room while they all bidded my family goodbye.
I took a cold shower hoping it would cool me down but it didn’t. So I laid on the bed with the duvet over me with only my head sticking out as I watched the lamp like it was something interesting.
“Eve, is anything the matter?” Jason asked the moment he got into the room.
“No.” I mumbled.
He got on the bed with me and snuggled closer to me and I turned to face him.
“Eve, are you alright?” He asked again and I felt tears fill my eyes.
“I….” my voice trailed off.
“Eve..” Jason panicked.
“I hate this..” I said and started crying.
“Hate what?” He said snuggling closer to me and pulling me closer until our bodies were so close that there was no space in between.
“This..” I said amidst tears.
“I hate Alice, I hate my family.” I said sobbing.
“Alice?” He asked in a confused tone.
“I saw her…” I said sniffing.
“I saw her come to your office in those seductive clothes again. Are you still seeing her?”
“Are you still having sex with her?” I asked, crying.
“Eve..” he said my name and paused, making me cry even louder.
What was he going to say?
“I’m sorry?”
“I didn’t mean to?”
Oh God..
“I ended things with Alice.”
“It’s been a while since I ended things with Alice.” He said and I stopped crying and was simply sniffing now as I felt a little bit relieved but the next thing he said made me cry again.
“Today, she said she wanted to be friends with me.” Jason said and I started crying again.
“I don’t want that..”
“I don’t want that!!” I said squirming around the bed until Jason held me firm.
“Eve, I won’t do what you don’t want, I knew you wouldn’t like that and so I rejected the offer.” He said which made me smile a bit.
“I didn’t know, you’re such a cry baby.” Jason teased, making me laugh.
“I love you.” I whispered.
“I love you more.” He said, pecking my forehead.
“Eve, I’ll never do what you don’t want, believe me.”
“I need you to trust me.” He said, sounding desperate.
“I trust you.” I said, taking his lips in mine.
We kissed for a while before he pulled away and we cuddled until we fell asleep.
