Eve..
I sat down on the bed with a frown evident on my face.
I just want to work, is that too much to ask for?
Staying away from the house for two weeks and being able to work gave me a feeling that I never thought I would miss so much.
When I was working before, I always wished that I didn’t have to work but staying with Jason for the past few months made me miss that and then I finally had a chance to work but..
“Eve..” I heard Jason call my name as he came into the room.
“Yeah..” I said quietly.
“Grandma Nini didn’t mean to upset you.” Jason said and came to sit down beside me on the bed.
Taking my hands in his and intertwining them before bringing it up and giving it a kiss.
“I’m not upset.” I said feeling good from the small gesture.
“I know, I just want you to talk to me.” Jason said quietly.
“It’s just.. I..” my voice trailed off.
I didn’t know how to start.
“You want to work?” He said the words for me.
“Yeah.” I nodded.
“But I don’t want my own bakery or whatever.” I said immediately Incase he was thinking like grandma Nini.
“At Least not now..” I mumbled.
“I know.” He chuckled.
“I don’t want to stay at home, it’s always so boring with nothing to do.” I said quietly.
“But you can paint.” Jason said and I smiled.
“It’s just a hobby.” I said.
“Why can’t you just get a better job?” He asked and I got upset again.
“Why? You don’t want anybody to know your wife simply bakes?” I huffed.
“No…” He laughed and kissed my hands again.
“Angry you is so cute.” He cooed, making me smile.
“I’m just thinking anything that has to do with being in the kitchen is stressful and I don’t want you to feel stressed and end up in the hospital again.” He said concerned.
“I’ll try to be careful.” I said smiling.
“Okay, come on, let me drop you off.” He suggested dragging me from the bed by my hands that were intertwined with his before I could even protest.
We got down the stairs only to meet Grandma Nini and Mom arguing playfully.
“Eve’s not opening a bakery, Grandma Nini and neither is Ethan willing to sell his book Cafe.” Jason said laughing at them as he dragged me out of the house to the garage where we found Jade already waiting for us.
“Morning.” Jade said happily and I smiled.
“Morning.” I said while Jason just shrugged so I nudged him so he would greet back.
“Morning.” He mumbled quietly and we both got into the car with jade driving off.
Jade dropped me off at Ethan’s cafe and they left but not without Jason giving me a goodbye peck on my cheeks and jade mumbling a yuck with a disgusted face which made Jason smack him playfully.
“Someone’s happy this morning..” I heard Ethan who was standing behind me tease.
“Says the one who’s glowing.” I smirked as we both walked to the cafe to open up the shop.
Ethan opened up and cleaned the shop up while I went to the kitchen to start prepping the ingredients.
Soon, we were both done with our little jobs and the shop was bustling with customers so I had to assist Ethan in at the counter.
“You really need to get a part timer or something.” I said to Ethan who laughed in response.
“It’s because of you that my shop is like this, your strawberry shortcake is what is drawing them here.” Ethan said, making me smile.
“I’ll get an iced caramel macchiato” a customer said and the voice sounded familiar.
“Mark?” I said the moment I saw him.
“You remember my name?” He said smiling.
“Of course.” I said getting his drink ready.
“That’s nice.” He said paying for his drink which I gave him afterwards.
“You don’t want anything with it?” I asked and he shook his head.
And then disappeared into the crowd.
I answered other customers before grabbing a plate of a blueberry muffin I just made to Mark whom I just noticed was sitting at the window seat.
“Here.” I said dropping the plate on his table.
“On the house.” I said smiling and he nodded, thanking me.
I nodded and went back to the kitchen.
“Ethan, can I go out for a while?” I asked.
“To see Jason?” He teased me and I blushed.
“Yes.” I said quietly.
“Sure, but don’t be long.” Ethan said and I nodded, grabbing the lunch bag I made for Jason.
I took the cab to Jason’s company and I took the elevator straight to Jason’s office.
Patricia recognized me so she just let me enter since he wasn’t in a meeting or something.
“Heyyyyy…” I said in a singsong as I entered his office.
“Eve?” He shot his head up from the file he was reading and that’s when I saw the glasses on his face.
Gosh! He looked hot.
“I brought lunch.” I said quietly as I went to the centre table in his office and he got up from his swivel chair and walked up to me, connecting our lips together.
“Mmmm.” I moaned into the kiss before he pulled away.
“I’ve wanted to do that all day.” He said making me blush for the nth time today.
“I b-brought y-y-you lunch.” I stuttered.
“Thanks.” He pecked my cheek and sat down on the couch grabbing the California rolls and eating them.
“Wow, this is amazing.” He mumbled.
“I know.” I said proudly.
“I have to go.” I said and he frowned.
“Right now?” He asked with his mouthful of corn dogs.
“Yeah.” I nodded.
He looked like a little kid with the food in his mouth. And I almost cooed.
“Okay..” he said and I gave him a peck on the cheek.
“I’ll pick you up.” He said and I nodded and then I left his office.
I stood by the elevator waiting for it to come.
The elevator opened revealing the one person I didn’t expect to see.
Alice..
And the moment she saw me, she smirked as if she was satisfied with my expression.
