Jason..
Today’s the day. The first official date.
I’ve got it all planned out thanks to Jade and the right use of the internet.
Of Course it took me a few days to plan it, a few hours to prepare a speech to ask Eve out and a great amount of courage but I asked and she said yes.
I’ve been feeling all giddy since morning. I said I’ll pick her up at noon and in ten more minutes, it will be noon so I needed to leave now.
I closed the files on my table that needed signing.
I could just do them tomorrow or so.
I changed into casual clothes and checked myself in the large mirror in my office, and damn!, did I look good.
I walked out of my office only to meet jade and Patricia chatting.
“My keys.” I said drawing attention to myself.
“Woah…, You look hot.” Jade said and I smirked.
“I know.” I said cockily which made him roll his eyes.
“Here.” He said, giving me my keys.
“Stop drooling Patricia.” I smiled as I walked towards the elevator.
I could feel both their eyes on me until I got into the elevator. It made me feel good, I mean I’ve always known that I’m a dashing young man but today is a special day so I want to be extra handsome.
Haha!
I took the elevator straight to the parking lot and went to my car once I was out.
I checked myself out in the rear view mirror and I felt fly.
God! I look handsome.
I got into the car and drove straight to Ethan’s Cafe.
The moment I walked into the car and saw her talking to Ethan about something I couldn’t hear, my heart did a somersault and backflip.
“You look…”
“Amazing!” I said breathlessly because she took my breath away.
“Thank you..” she blushed which made me coo at the sight.
“You both should stop acting like teens on their first date and run along.” Ethan teased.
“Shall we?” I asked and she nodded.
We both left Ethan’s cafe hand in hand and walked straight to my car.
I opened the door for her and she smiled. Wow, I feel like my heart’s gonna explode.
I quickly got into the car and drove straight to our first stop.
Jade’s idea was for me to get tickets to see a comedy show.
According to him, nothing breaks down barriers between two new couples and brings two people together better than laughter.
I agreed with that and that’s why I was taking Eve to see this famous comedian that jade told me about.
I checked out his content on Instagram countless times when jade told me and I found him funny too. Though his jokes were mostly dark humour.
I did a little research on him so I won’t look like a total fool when we’re there and a good amount of people found him funny too so that’s good enough.
We soon got there and walked hand in hand into the venue.
I gave the tickets to the person in charge and we went to find our seats. The seating arrangements were quite tricky but we still ended up at a good seat.
And soon, the show started.
“Hello everyone, my name is Justin and I’m your comedian for today.” He said and the crowd roared with applause.
“So something happened to me a week ago that I want to share with you a lot.” He began.
“My girlfriend’s dog died and I got her another one but she was upset.”
“I asked her why..”
“And she screamed – what would I do with two dead dogs?” Justin said and the crowd roared with laughter.
I laughed too. I’ve always found dark humour funny anyways. I looked to my side where Eve sat but she didn’t seem amused at all.
I shrugged it off. Maybe it hadn’t hit her yet.
“Whenever I attend weddings, older people would approach me and say – Justin, you’ll be next.”
“I just started saying the same thing to them at funerals.” Justin said again and the crowd roared in laughter once more. Some people were even shedding tears already.
It wasn’t all that funny like they were taking it but it did make me laugh.
However, Eve still kept her poker face.
“If you burn a body at a crematorium, you’re respectful but if you do the same at home, you’re destroying evidence?… I hate double standards.” Justin joked once more but Eve still didn’t laugh.
“Is it boring?” I asked since I was confused. It wasn’t like the jokes were funny so I couldn’t understand why she wasn’t laughing or does she not enjoy comedy shows?
“I..” her voice trailed off.
“Sorry.” She managed to say.
“Let’s go.” I said quietly.
“Why?” She asked and I raised my brows.
“You’ll not enjoy it.” I managed to say.
“But you are..” she countered.
“Eve, a date is for two people not for one person, if you’re not enjoying it then I’m not enjoying it too.” I said getting up. She nodded and got up with me.
“Are you two leaving?” I heard Justin say making the crowd face us both.
“Everybody say boo!!” Justin booed us both and I just ignored the booing crowd and went out along with Eve.
“Sorry, that was my fault.” She said once we got out.
“Oh, not at all, he’s just stupid.” I shrugged.
“I don’t enjoy dark humour, I think it’s a bit insensitive.” She mumbled quietly.
“Oh..” I managed to say.
“I’m not judging you, I’m just saying.” She said immediately which made me smile.
” I know.” I said, squeezing her hands.
“Plus they call him Justin the menace because he says insensitive things and calls them jokes on Instagram.” Eve said and I laughed awkwardly.
I guess I didn’t do my research properly then. I thought.
“But it was thoughtful of you to bring me to see a comedy show.” She said once she noticed my face fell.
We were already in the car so I let go of her hands and faced her directly.
“You’re not just saying that to make me feel better, are you?” I asked, tilting my head.
“No, I’m not.” She said, pulling me into a warm hug.
“I like this..” I mumbled as I inhaled her perfume.
She smelled like cinnamon and vanilla. I’m guessing it was from the cafe but that’s still the best smell ever for me.
