Chapter 48

Book:The Virgin Wife Published:2025-3-31

Alice…
I groaned for the umpteenth time.
Where the hell is he?
I was currently at one of the most popular and expensive bars in town because of Mark.
He said he has some juicy news that would make me go wild.
And the news was very important that I would want to celebrate so I should just start celebrating before he gets here.
I sat down as I continued to stomp my feet in annoyance.
Soon, the door opened revealing none other than my brother.
“Why you piece of-” I was about to cuss at him but he shut me up instead.
“Why don’t I sit down?” He said with a sly smile as he entered the room properly and went to find a place to sit.
“So?” I waited expectantly for the news.
“So what?” He asked teasingly.
“Go on, tell me the thing you saw… Or heard.” I urged him.
“Wait for it.” He said, making me scoff.
“In the meantime, why don’t we order some food and wine to catch up.” He suggested annoying me further.
“Just spill it.” I said with gritted teeth but he didn’t even burge.
“All I ask is a small meal to fill my empty stomach.” He says with the most annoying tune.
“Fine!” I snapped as I rang the button to call for the waiter who would be attending to us.
“How can I help you?” The waiter asked the moment she arrived.
“Oh, you can very much help me.” Mark said flirting with her and she smiled.
Yuck!
I can’t believe I have to witness this.
“Just order your food, Mark.” I deadpanned.
“Fine, ugh! So cranky.” Mark smirked.
“I’ll have everything good on the menu.” Mark said after looking through it.
“What?” I yelled.
“This news is really good, you need to pay me more for my Intel.” Mark said.
“This better be good or I’ll kill you.” I yelled.
Then I nodded to the waiter who giggled when Mark winked at her.
Ugh!
The table was soon filled with different kinds of delicacies and two bottles of expensive wine.
I wonder if he can even stomach all this.
“Aren’t you going to eat?” He asked with a mouthful of whatever food.
“Just eat.” I said looking away as I poured myself a glass of wine.
“So I was stalking Eve as usual.” Mark began catching my attention.
“You say stalking Eve like it’s a job.” I scoffed.
“You were the one whining for Intel a few minutes ago and now that I’m talking, you’re cutting me off?” Mark hissed.
“Okay okay, fine, go on then.”
“Tell me your great story.” I mocked him.
“So I was stalking Eve as usual when I stumbled upon this great news.” Mark said and I nodded.
“And..” He paused, making me look at him expectantly.
He chewed loudly on his food and drank a full cup of wine before belching loudly, making me scrunch up my nose in irritation.
“And I found out that they had a fall out.” Mark said proudly like he just spilled the best secret in the world.
“That’s it?” I asked, waiting for more.
“Nope.” He said, making me conclude that he was probably sick in the head.
“Well, go ahead then, don’t keep me waiting.” I said, eager to hear the full story but he ignored me and kept mulching on his food.
“If you say they had a fall out, does that mean that they fought?” I asked, trying to get him to talk.
“Even better.” Mark said mouthful with chicken nuggets.
“They got divorced.” He finally spilled the tea.
“They what?” I asked excitedly.
“It’s just like I said Alice, apparently Jason sent her the divorce agreement.” Mark said and I squealed in excitement.
I was never one to believe in shamanism or horoscope readings but I checked my horoscope today and It said that something good was coming for me. Greatness would come my way.
This is it!
This is my greatness.
I’m about to become Mrs Coleman.
This is my chance.
And I’ll seize it to finally make Jason mine.
“Are you seriously not gonna eat anything?” Mark asked, still eating everything on the table.
Just how is he able to stomach all this?
I laughed like a maniac.
This is my time!
I was excited for a long time.
I felt gleeful.
This was definitely a moment to celebrate.
“What do you say.. we go to the club to have some fun?” Mark suggested and for a moment there, I almost accepted.
It was a joyful moment after all.
I had something big to celebrate.
“No, you can go by yourself, Mark.” I declined.
“Why?”
“I thought you would be eager to celebrate?” Mark seemed confused by my behaviour.
“Here’s my card, spend as you seem fit.” I said giving him my credit card. Though it has a limit, so if he crosses it tonight, he’ll probably be a cleaner or waiter for the rest of his days in New York.
“It has a limit, doesn’t it?” He smirked and I giggled.
“I have better things to do.” I said bringing out my black card.
“After all, I would soon be a Coleman.” I giggled as I got up from my chair.
I paid for his current order and added a strong sake to it.
I highly doubt the card I gave him will be used tonight.
Afterall, He’ll probably be too drunk to go clubbing and will spend the night here. At Least that’s what I’m hoping for.
But as for me, I’m going shopping.
I’m shopping for new clothes and jewellery that I’ll wear once I fully become a Coleman.
I’ll have to buy some gifts for his grandma Nini and his mother too.
His mother doesn’t really like me so a nice expensive jewellery should do the trick.
And maybe…
Just maybe…
I’ll get my measurements taken for a wedding dress.
I bet I would look stunning in the dress.
After all, I look amazing in white.
