Rex’s POV.
“I will give you my pack, I will do anything. Anything, Elena, just bring them home. We need to know what exactly is wrong? We need answers to why the early transformation, Elena, please?” I groaned as I looked at her.
“Don’t you ever give up? Huh, don’t you? I can make decisions for them, I am their mother. And they also have Marie. And if I need anyone, I will rather take them to Marie’s pack instead of yours.” She cursed angrily as she gave me a dirty glare.
I rolled my head in disbelief as I couldn’t understand how deeply she must have hated me. I frowned my face as I remained quiet. I could clearly hear my heavy breath as tears swelled up my eyes.
“Don’t be this difficult, Elena!!” I said in a light growl as I looked at her.
“Difficult? Oh, Jesus!! You think I am being difficult? I am sick and tired of waking up every morning, knowing that I would go to that place and endure your presence, Rex. Can’t you see it’s over between us?” She snarled as she scattered her head in frustration.
Her bun fell as the hair flowed down. Hearing those words made my heart ache even more.
“You hate me that much, Elena?” I said in an inquisitive tone as I couldn’t hold back the tears in my eyes as they rolled down my cheeks.
I tilted my lips as I wiped off the tears as I raised my head upwards. I forced out a smile before exhaling heavily before looking at her again.
“It’s perfectly okay for you to hate me, to loathe me. I know I fucked up. I know I betrayed our bond as mates, Elena.” I said calmly as I could still hear my heart beating really fast.
“You endure my presence, but I still find delight in every single time we get to see. I know I’m not deserving of your love. I know I am selfish, Elena but if making sure that I protect my kids means I am selfish, then yes, I will happily be selfish.” I groaned as I did my best not to let those tears roll down my cheeks.
She wore a straight face, unmoved and I could tell. I could tell she hated me so much. I could clearly see the resentment she had for me in her eyes.
“Stop trying.” She said calmly as she looked at me. “We will do just perfectly fine without you. We have always been good after all. I never died when you chased me. You gave up on me thinking I was barren. You always think about yourself and your pack, so why don’t you just leave me and my kids alone. Forget that we exist.” She chuckled softly as she rolled her eyes.
“And for the kids, I can teach them how to be cautious and the etiquettes needed.” She said as she rolled her eyes again in the space of a minute.
“How will you teach Kiana proper etiquette? Here? How do you expect Kanu to learn how to defend himself here? They have better equipment, a pack warrior and a training space where they can train and become strong enough.” I snapped, cutting her halfway through her speech.
“They belong to the pack, Elena.” I mumbled.
“No!! They belong here.” She cursed angrily.
“Every werewolf needs a pack to remain relevant, Elena. Will you deprive that from them as well? I know you hate me, I know you despise and resent me, Elena but can’t you see this is the truth? They need the pack, Elena!!” I said in a sober tone as I tilted my lips as my cheeks flustered.
“Can you please just take your leave now?” She muttered as she turned to the door as she exhaled heavily. “I am tired already and I can’t go on with this conversation anymore, Rex!!” She snapped, avoiding eye contact with me.
Her phone rang as she brought it out of her handbag.
{Collins Morgan calling}
I overheard the Caller ID as I raised my eyebrows as I looked at her.
{“Hello, Collins?” She said the moment she answered the call.}
{“Hello, Elena. How are you? It’s just a day and it feels like weeks already. I miss your beautiful smiles.” He said in a calm and husky voice.}
Seeing her smile right now did nothing but piss me off as I exhaled heavily.
{“Ohh, thank you!!” She blushed as her face brightened up immediately.}
{“Are you okay? You don’t sound great.” He said}
{Oh, yes I am. Just exhausted.” She responded as she folded her arms together.}
{“How about I take you out tomorrow? Maybe dinner!!” He asked.}
I could clearly hear the excitement in his voice and I raised my eyebrows as I looked at her. She had agreed to go out with me tomorrow’s night and I had this little hope in me that she was going to turn him down.
She raised her eyebrows, finally making eye contact with me before looking away.
{“Okay then, that won’t be a problem. I need to get some rest now.” She responded, accepting his request without blinking an eye.}
{“Okay then, goodnight, beautiful Elena.” He said in a flirtatious tone before ending the call after she said her goodnight too.}
And right that point in time, all I could feel was the sharp and excruciating pain that messed up not just with my heart but also with my head.
Without saying a single word, I walked out as I walked down to my car. I stood there, in the middle of the lonely street as I recalled the day I had gotten news that she had been found.
Flashback…
“We have found her boss!! She is in New Kingston!!”
“Get the plane ready. We are going to New Kingston!!”
Present Day…
I stood there as tears rolled down my cheeks. “How could she? How could she? Darn it! Darn it!!” I cursed as I used my werewolf speed as I got to my car, kicking the tyre repeatedly as I felt my heart burning as I cried.
