Rex’s POV.
“Good morning, Sir.”
The staff lowered their heads as I made my way inside the building. I had ignored their greetings as I hastily walked down to the elevator and rushed in, I had bumped into Elena who was also rushing out of the elevator too.
“Darn it!” She cursed as the file she was holding fell to the ground as the papers inside the orange file scattered all over the floor.
“I… I’m sorry about that!!” I quickly apologized as I looked at her.
She wore a straight face as she looked at me and I could hear her heartbeat racing fast now.
We both squatted down together as we bumped into ourselves again as we fell down to the floor.
I shut my eyes in frustration as I helped her in gathering the papers before handing it over to her.
“Thank you!” She shrugged as she walked past me.
“And what file is that?” I couldn’t help but ask as I turned around as I looked at her.
She paused as she turned around. “I forgot to hand it over to the executives, so I wanted to take it to them myself.” She responded as she looked at me.
“They left already.” I muttered, recalling that I saw them leaving the same moment we drove in.
I took the file from her as I looked at the record. “It’s not that important.” I shrugged as I looked at her.
I couldn’t tell why she was giving me that sober look or what exactly was going on in her mind but whatever it was, I guess it wasn’t going to end well for any of us either.
We both used the elevator as we went back to the top floor.
“How are Kanu and Kiana?” I questioned as she was at the front.
“They are fine.” She responded as she wore a straight face.
“I was hoping we could talk and, maybe you know, have dinner tonight.” I shrugged hesitantly as I knew what her answer was going to be.
“I would have loved to but I have something very important to attend to tonight.” She sneered as she sat down on her office chair as she looked at me.
“Umm, how about tomorrow?” I asked again, hoping she wouldn’t turn it down as well.
“Tomorrow happens to be the only work free day I have, and I would love to rest on that day.” She answered.
I felt my wolf sprawling inside me in frustration. “Must she always play hard to get?” My wolf groaned bitterly as I turned around.
“But maybe, I could spare just an hour.” She muttered, which made me pause halfway as I turned around to look at her.
“Can you put yourself under composure?” I said in a whisper as it felt like my wolf was about jumping out of my body.
“Okay, thank you. An hour would be really appreciated.” I said with a smile as I looked at her as she forced out a smile on her face too.
I walked inside my office as I couldn’t stop looking at her. And I also couldn’t stop smiling like I just won a big lottery worth millions of dollars.
I spent my entire day staring at her and also, thinking about our one hour dinner night.
But then, everything changed when I couldn’t help but eavesdrop on her conversation with her friend, Marie.
“Is everything alright?”
“Yeah, just that you aren’t home yet and you know the full moon is about setting. You know we don’t know how exactly they transform into their wolf form and I don’t think I am ready to watch every bone in their body crack.” Marie whimpered.
“But changing back to their human form was a stress free one, I don’t think changing to their wolf form will be stressful either. And they never mentioned facing any pain at all.” Elena shuddered as the thought of transformation surged in.
“What?” I gasped out in shock as I couldn’t believe what I just heard. “How is that possible? They are just five years old and they can already transform into their wolf form?” I furrowed my eyebrows in disbelief as I blocked out my ears as I couldn’t go on eavesdropping on their conversation.
I couldn’t even think of it in a positive way as everything appeared completely strange and abnormal to me. This was the first time I was hearing something like this.
I quickly packed up my things as I left.
“Are you okay?” Clark shrugged as he looked at me.
“Yeah, I am.” I forced out a broad smile. “You know what, Elena will be down any moment from now. I want you to take her home. I’ll go home alone. I have something important to take care of.” I shrugged as I hurriedly dashed out, without saying a single word next or even staying back to hear whatever he had to say about my sudden behavior.
I entered one of the cars as I drove off immediately. “Hello, mother?” I greeted the moment she answered the call.
“Are you okay? And why are you driving that fast? I can hear the wind.” She scowled.
“Going to see my kids.” I muttered as I tilted my lips, finding the best way to bring up the question.
“Going to see your kids? Is everything alright?” She queried in a tensed up voice.
“Yeah, just a little discovery that my two little and adorable twins have been transforming to their wolf form for the past three months now.” I shrugged as I shut my eyes for a while and as expected, I could hear the shock in her voice.
“What? What do you mean by transforming into their wolf form?” She gasped out in shock.
“Well, that is what I am about to find out.” I muttered as I parked directly opposite Elena’s house.
I ended the call, leaving my phone inside the house as I rushed into the compound. I knocked at the door and I could see the shock that overwhelmed Marie’s face, “Rex?” She gasped as she raised her eyebrows.
