After the procedure was completed, Kieran waited in the car for a long time. Anthony approached immediately, lowering his voice, “Mr. Oconnor, there’s news from Tobias.”
“Speak.”
“He went to Japan to find a plastic surgeon. He has some connections in the medical field and seems to be seeking a favor.”
“A surgeon going to see a plastic surgeon, does that make sense?” Nelson strode out, tugging at his tie.
“Yes, it’s strange. He flew all the way to Japan. What did Miss Marsh ask him to do that made him go through so much trouble?”
This made Nelson pause slightly, “She always has that ability.”
Hearing this, Kieran in the front seat chimed in, “A plastic surgeon? I think I’ve heard something about that.”
Nelson’s gaze was sharp as a blade, “What.”
“I can’t remember clearly. I think Callie and Miss Ross mentioned it once. Oh right, there was a time when Miss Ross handed her a document. Callie didn’t let me see it. After reading it, she had a strange expression and eventually burned it with a lighter. I don’t even know what it was.”
Kieran thought hard but couldn’t make sense of it. He had been too busy to report it to Nelson at the time. Now that Callie was missing, he tried hard to provide useful clues.
Hearing this, Nelson squinted his eyes and dialed a number, “Bridger, go find your so-called girlfriend. She might know the truth.”
There was a pause on the other end, sounding troubled.
“Nelson… she’s now my ex-girlfriend.”
“Alright, I’ll go right away.”
The call ended. Nelson flipped his phone in his hand and looked up to see Sienna coming out with Charlotte, who quickly got into a car and drove away.
“Where has Charlotte been recently?”
“The people watching her said she hasn’t gone anywhere, just between here and the Ellison family estate, fully focused on wedding preparations.”
Nelson’s gaze towards Charlotte grew colder, showing no mercy.
He unconsciously rubbed his thumb and finger together, “Nowhere else.”
Anthony was surprised, “Do you think something’s wrong with her?”
“Have our people at the Ellison family keep an eye on her. I want to know exactly what she’s doing there.”
“Yes.” Anthony paused, “And Tobias?”
“Watch his flight. Intercept him when he lands.”
Abandoned construction site.
The rain had stopped, but the weather was still cold. Callie’s fever kept recurring, leaving her with little time fully conscious. She endured bit by bit.
The site was large, overgrown with weeds, looking very desolate. But in this remote place, Callie saw a tea tree.
A small one, standing out among the grass.
She squinted her eyes, suddenly remembering something. Sienna had once taken her to visit the Ellison family estate, where the back mountain was full of tea trees of a special variety, exactly like the one she saw now.
How could it be such a coincidence…
Callie’s heart pounded with a bold idea-
It would be difficult for Charlotte to do all this without anyone knowing, but if this place belonged to the Ellison family, with no way for outsiders to investigate, naturally no one would find her.
In other words, even if she died here, no one would discover it.
Thinking of this, Callie felt a wave of fear. Dying in her true home would be too ironic.
“Bald,” Callie croaked.
The bald man playing cards nearby cursed and walked over, “What do you want!”
