When he did this… “Anna?” Arnold called, staring at me in my hiding spot.
Hearing my name, my whole body shivered!
Jeremy turned and saw me outside the office as well. Only Diego didn’t react that much. It was as if he knew I was there all along!
He only turned slightly to the side, with his eyes falling on me calmly.
The way he stared confirmed my No doubt about it. Diego knew I was eavesdropping on their conversation.
“You’re awake?” Arnold uttered with a smile, making a move towards me.
Diego turned to face Jeremy, who immediately spoke out, saying, “She’ll be taking her shots soon. She just needed a stroll around the lab to stretch her legs. Staying in one spot all the time isn’t good.”
“It’s fine,” My Alpha said, looking back at me.
The look in his eyes made it hard to tell if he was happy to see me or still upset with the fact that I kept him in the dark.
That made my stomach growl with unhappiness. “I’ll be heading back now,” I said, stepping away from the door.
“Okay,” Arnold said, still smiling at me.
I returned the gesture to the Beta, before flashing a glance at Diego. He still had his eyes on me, but his expression wasn’t giving.
Without hesitating, I left that place with a heavy heart and went back to my room to await my treatment.
After waiting for like ten minutes for Jeremy, I heard the door creak open from the side, stealing my attention at once.
But it wasn’t Jeremy that came in. It was. Diego!
“Alpha?” I gasped when I saw him.
He stared back at me while shutting the door behind. I had to get up to my feet, with my fingers playing with the other while waiting patiently for him to make a move.
I thought he wouldn’t come to see me, but he did!
Diego drew nearer and asked in his soothing deep voice, sliding his left hand into his pocket, “How are you?”
The way my heart glowed when I heard his voice, felt like a magical moment taking place in my life.
“I’m… I’m fine,” I stuttered, fixing my hair to the back of my ear, with a smile secretly spreading across my face.
Diego was finally close to me with just a little space in between us. His scent came rushing into my nose sweetly, make my heart swell for him.
I was tempted to hold him tight and scream out how much I’ve missed him, but I don’t want my sexual urges reacting again.
I can’t.
“How are you?” I questioned back, lowering my head at Diego.
That’s when my Alpha’s right hand came to my face and carefully caressed my cheek, lifting my head to have a look into my eyes.
When I felt his touch and met his gaze, my heart broke at the sight of Diego’s face expression.
He’s finally showing it.
He misses me too!
He didn’t need words to tell me the answer to my question. His action alone was enough.
Diego had my head buried right on his chest with his whole arms falling around me, squeezing me tight.
He ignored the fact that my body now reacts swiftly due to the high level of the substance in me. He didn’t care but held me dearly.
His answer is clear. He’s not doing well without me around.
My Alpha Lord misses me so much.
“We’re getting there, Anna. Just a few more attempts and we’ll have the cure in no time,” He said to me with all of his heart.
I could feel his desire to take me away from this place, but he can’t interrupt the treatment. It will only make things worst for us if I’m not placed under intense care.
Carefully lifting my face, with our foreheads connecting, my Alpha comforted my heart, saying, “Stay strong, Anna. I’ll make everything right, I promise.”
“I also want to make things better for us, Diego. Please, I want to help out,” I requested, showing my readiness.
But he refused me, understanding where I was heading to.
He said, cupping my face, “Leave this to me, Anna. Just stay here and don’t do anything.”
“But Diego…”
“I’m serious, Anna,” He interrupted, swaying his head at me. “You are not in the right state of mind to help.”
“I know, but…” I held back, feeling upset with my condition. Biting down on my lower lip, I thought of Woods and said to Diego, having a plan which might work for us, “We can make this successful if we work together and trick Woods into thinking I no longer…”
Before I could complete my words…” No!” Diego refused angrily, standing against my plan.
“Anything that involves endangering your life is a no, Anna! Woods wants you! I will not take that risk of allowing that man to have you just because of a risky plan. It’s a No.”
I should have seen that coming.
“What about Damian?” I remembered my ex-mate when Diego’s date with Casey came to mind.
“Remember we had a plan to get both Damian and Cassandra to provide the drugs?”
“That was then, not now, ” He said, letting go off me.
His mood had changed due to the ideas I brought up. He’s not comfortable with either of them, since it involves two men that badly want to make me their sex doll.
Diego doesn’t approve of it.
“If anyone will be handling those two, then it’s me. And speaking of Damian…” He took out another phone from his pocket and stared at it. “That Alpha has begun his work as a Mafia under Woods care.”
On hearing that from him, I flashed to what Damian had told me at the company with pride.
“I finally have a lot of that drug in my possession. Meaning you can have as many as you want for the number of nights you’ll give to me. I am now a fucking Mafia,” His words rang in my head, causing my body to heat up.
That means he was being serious that day. He is now a Mafia!
“I sent someone to find out where he’s hiding his secret club and give me any details of his operations with the Mafias and the substance. Seems someone is trying to prove hard to get,” Diego said, revealing how sneaky Damian is with his new found hobby.
But that asshole promised to give me as many drugs that I want if I give him what he desires.
Should I tell Diego about this?
No, he won’t allow me to play a role in this. He doesn’t want Damian around my point.
But what if my visit to Damian’s place is the breaking point we need?
“Should I just try and convince him?” I contemplated, looking at my Alpha. He was looking frustrated with all these tasks on him.
“No,” I held back, making my decision. “I won’t tell him. Even if I do, he’ll want to do it on his own, and maybe he’ll arrive at the same conclusion. Damian is being careful.”
Just then, Arnold came into the room to inform Diego about my step sister.
That slutty Casey has responded to Arnold’s call, telling him that she was on her way here to Crescent, for her date with my Diego.
It was disturbing but I had to hold myself and act unbothered.
“We have to move then,” Diego saod, taking his phone back from Arnold.
As he slid it into his pocket, he gave me one more look and said, “I have to leave.”
“Okay,” I responded, nodding at him.
“Jeremy will come over to give you your shots.”
“Yeah.” I nodded, answering him straight away.
But my response left Diego staring at me uncomfortably.
He sighed and said, giving me a caress to the cheek, “I’ll check up on you tomorrow morning.”
“No problem,” I said, smiling at him.
At least that changed his mood. He returned the gesture and left the lab with Arnold.
Once they were gone, I sat on the bed and began to plot out my own mission.
“I can’t keep telling him this over and over again. The simple Anna of old is gone. I am now the Alpha Lord’s partner. I am a part of his world now.”
“The only way to get to Damian is if I go there to give him what he wants, and trick him into giving me the drugs without him touching me,” I viewed the plan, thinking hard on how to carry it out without Diego knowing.
“Should I tell Jeremy? No, I don’t want to get him into trouble with the Alpha again,” I refused that idea for the doctor’s sake.
This time, Diego won’t just lift him into the air but do worst.
“Looks like this plan requires my effort alone. I’ll have to get Damian to give me those drugs. I’m ready to take the risk,” I decided.
