ANASTASIA
“It’s time for your shots,” Jeremy said, attending to the injection right in front of me.
Knowing well that I have no time nor will I be able to execute my plan if that sleeping drug is in me, I decided to act fast and stop him from injecting me.
The moment he brought the needle close, “Jeremy,” I called, making him pause.
“Yes?” He responded, staring into my eyes.
Thinking my words carefully while dragging myself deeper into bed, away from the needle, I said, making my request with a long face, “Can I just stay without being put to sleep? Just for tonight?”
“But Anna…” His eyes fell on the syringe with a pause, as he thought about my sudden wish deeply. “The Alpha made it clear that I must give you your doze tonight. I don’t want to…”
“I know, but…” I sighed out bitterly, wrapping my arms across my chest to show him how unhappy I was. “I only want to have one night to myself. Just one night without being treated like some kind of lab rat.”
“Hey, come on now. You are nothing like that.”
“That’s to you. But to me… I see no difference between me and those girls,” I said with a sad tune, expressing my feelings towards this problem.
When I lifted my eyes to look at Jeremy, I found the doctor thinking about my words. He didn’t look happy either.
“It seems my plan is going into place,” I viewed, keeping my act on.
To make sure he agrees to it, I pleaded one more time, begging him to give me tonight alone. “You can inject me in the morning. I just want to use this time to feel like a normal person again. Besides, you’ve been injecting me with the doze ever since I started staying here, and I haven’t felt that itch all thanks to you,” I said, praising him for his work.
“The medicine has managed to subdue the infection. It’s stronger than the previous ones you gave me.”
“Really? I didn’t really put that in mind because of… You know who,” He said, referring to Diego with the side eyes.
I chuckled at his words and showed my understanding towards him.
“Please, Jerry. Just for tonight, I beg of you,” I pleaded again, taking hold of his hand.
Unable to resist, “Damn! Just for tonight, okay?”
“Thank you!” I cheered, throwing myself on him for a hug.
“Oh… Okay now. I think that’s enough.” He patted me on the back lightly, before making me sit on the bed.
“We don’t want anything that’ll stir up your urges.”
“Oh, right. Gotcha,” I agreed, feeling pleased.
Jeremy accepted my request and told me he’ll come over in the morning to give me my doze as agreed.
But just as he was about to leave, “Jeremy,” I called, stopping him from leaving.
“Yes, Anna?” He replied, turning over to face me.
“Um… Can I take a stroll?” I made another request, hoping he won’t frown or object my next wish.
This is the final step I need if I want to pull this off. I just need him to believe my every move.
“Seriously?” He lifted his brow at me while I grinned, begging him with my palms together.
After seeing my googly eyes, Jeremy gave in without any delay. “Okay, you can stroll around.”
“Thank you, Jerry. You really are the best.”
“Don’t stay up too late, okay?” He cautioned, pointing his finger at my face, like a father to his daughter.
I chuckled and promised to obey his order.
Then with a smile, Jeremy said, “Always remember that you’re loved by others, and not an experiment. We care about you.”
“Thanks, Jeremy,” I responded with a smile, staring at him until he was out of the room.
Once he was gone, I gave out a sigh of relief, before rising to my feet, and making my way out of the door.
“How do I pull this off?” I questioned myself while strolling away from my room and into the passage.
My target was the main door, and I needed a plan to make the securities guarding the exit, think I’m really taking a stroll, but outside.
“I have no choice but to take the risk. It’s now or never,” I gulped down, strolling further into the pathway while aiming for my destination, which is the entrance out of this lab.
I had to act natural so that the guards who walked pass me, won’t suspect a thing or two about my body language.
Luckily for me, they didn’t get a hint of my plan. They were just greeting me with respect, due to the fact that I was close to of the Alpha.
That helped me a lot.
When I got to the exit, I met the guards on duty, keeping the door secured. As I drew near to make my way out, one of them immediately stopped me and asked, “My lady, where are you heading to?”
“Outside of course. Where else?” I responded, narrowing my brows at the fellow.
They both glanced at each other and said, trying not to offend me, “But my lady, you should be in your room by this time. Doctor Jeremy must be looking for…”
“Doctor Jeremy and my Alpha gave me the go ahead to move around as I like,” I lied, standing boldly.
“Yes, I am undergoing treatment here in the lab, but that doesn’t mean I can’t move about freely as I want. Or… Are you trying to say your Alpha shouldn’t have made that…” I twisted, making it seem like they were disobeying Diego.
Realizing this, they immediately apologized to me, pleading for my forgiveness. “We didn’t mean it like that, ma’am. We were just looking after you.”
“We’re sorry, please.”
I waved my hand at them with my shoulders up high, so they’d see that I mean ever darn words I said. But I must confess, I felt guilty for using this tactic on them.
It’s the only option I had.
Accepting my request, the guards opened up the door for me and I boldly walked out of the building to start my mission.
Outside the lab with no means of leaving this place , the heavens opened its glory on me by pointing out a car that was set to leave the premises.
I recognized the face of the guard who was about to get into the vehicle. He’s one of Diego’s men from the mansion.
“It seems he came over to attend to something and was about leaving. Still, he’s my ticket out of this place.”
Carefully and sneakily, I crawled over to the car and opened the back door when the guard was absentminded.
He was busy on a phone call and didn’t notice when I snuck into the car and carefully hid myself in the back seat, waiting.
After two minutes or three, he got inside and drove off, exiting the lab at last.
As we got halfway through the journey, I made my presence known to the guard, who was already picking up my scent, turning his head multiple times to the back to see if someone else was with him.
When the latter saw me, he was shocked!
“Ma’am?!”
“Keep driving and don’t stop,” I ordered, giving the guard a serious look.
He wanted to know how I got in, but he stayed quiet and did I as instructed, driving me down to the mansion.
When we pulled into the compound, I felt relieved on seeing that one of Diego’s important ride wasn’t there.
“He must be on his date with Cassandra,” I believed, feeling unhappy a little, but glad to have someone like him in my life.
The car came to a stop and I stormed out, matching into the mansion with the guard following me from behind.
The other men and servants were stunned to see me. They couldn’t ask any question but watch on as I made my way up the stairs, aiming for my room.
Only the guard who drove me back here, made the move by asking from behind, “Why are you here, Ma’am?”
I didn’t want to give him any answer, but since I know for a fact that I’ll be needing his help again, I said, arriving at my room door, “There’s an important task I must complete before my time runs out.”
“A task? Does the Alpha know about this?” He asked, stepping into the room with me.
I gave no reply until I was standing close to the drawer, holding my phone and the card Damian had given to me.
This is the only way I can reach out to him.
“He doesn’t know. But he will, once this mission is successful. And as for you…” I turned over to face the guard, who stared at me with a sudden fear in his eyes.
“You are coming with me to Wolf Blood pack,” I said, giving my command.
His mouth dropped halfway, trying to voice out something concerning my instruction. But when I gave him the serious gaze, so he’d see that I wasn’t ready for any opposition, he stayed quiet and nodded.
“Alright Ma’am.” He bowed.
“Good. Go and wait for me outside. And whatever you do, don’t inform Alpha Diego or Beta Arnold about my presence. I don’t want them having a hint of this until I’m done.”
“As you wish, my Lady,” He said, still bowing at me.
