Ulric suddenly seemed to lose all his strength and leaned against Rosalind’s shoulder. His six-foot-three frame made it difficult for her to breathe.
He made no sound but quietly leaned against her.
Rosalind wanted to speak several times but held back, thinking it best to let him calm down first.
Suddenly, she felt her neck grow wet, the droplets sliding slowly down her collarbone…
Ulric was crying silently.
The last time he shed tears, he could blame it on alcohol, but this time, he was completely sober.
“Ulric…”
“Rosalind, you can’t leave me again,” he said hoarsely, his chest trembling with each word. “One time is enough to break my heart.”
He couldn’t bear it happening again.
…
Tilda found a job.
She worked remotely as a planner, which meant no need to go into an office. She could work from home.
Despite Johnny’s countless suggestions that she should give up working and let him take care of her, Tilda didn’t want to be anyone’s appendage.
“Only eight thousand a month?”
“Plus full benefits, it adds up to over ten thousand.” Tilda was quite satisfied.
Johnny shrugged and sat back on the sofa. “Why not come work at W Group as my secretary? We could even spend lunch breaks together, sleeping…”
“Is there anything else in that head of yours?”
Tilda leaned back against the sofa and kicked him lightly.
Johnny wasn’t annoyed. He grabbed her ankle and pulled her closer. “When I see you, my mind is filled only with thoughts of sleeping with you!”
“Maybe you should go find some other beauties? I can’t handle your excessive sexual desire.”
“No way. I only want you.”
Seeing where this was heading, Tilda quickly put up her hand to stop him.
“I just called my parents and told them I found a job. They want me to come home for dinner tonight! So don’t start anything.”
After spending time with him, she never had the energy left to visit home.
Hearing she was leaving, Johnny quickly leaned in. “I don’t have any plans tonight. I’ll go with you to see your parents!”
“Why? They’re my parents!”
“We’re family eventually. I might as well get to know them better.” Johnny stood up and called his secretary to arrange for gifts to be sent over.
Every time he visited Tilda’s parents, Johnny came bearing gifts.
“I haven’t agreed to take you with me yet!”
“If you don’t agree, then neither of us is going.”
Johnny had become quite adept at handling her!
In the evening, they drove back together.
Coincidentally, Mr. Wales was returning from the supermarket with groceries when he spotted Johnny’s flashy car-impossible not to recognize it.
“Mr. Wales! Let me help!” Johnny jumped out of the car without even closing the door and rushed over to help Mr. Wales with the bags.
The warmth in his voice and his eager demeanor put even Tilda to shame.
Mr. Wales was quite pleased. Although he hadn’t been satisfied with his future son-in-law at first, he’d grown increasingly fond of him!
“Tilda’s mother was upstairs making dinner. We didn’t expect you back so soon!”
“We had some free time, so we came early to spend more time with you.” Johnny stood beside Tilda with the groceries, grinning foolishly.
Tilda sighed. When she was about to speak, she caught sight of someone familiar out of the corner of her eye…
Her appearance was quite unexpected.
It was Johnny’s ex-girlfriend-Caroline.
Johnny sensed something was off and followed Tilda’s gaze-
He froze.
“Johnny, how long are you going to keep avoiding me?”
