Rebecca stood dumbfounded for several minutes before she found her voice.
“What do you mean…”
“I can only stay with him in Sweden for a month, and the time is almost up.”
Rebecca was still unable to process this. It was all too sudden.
“Is there some misunderstanding?”
“I wish there were.” Rosalind stood up and smiled at Rebecca. “His parents really want you to marry him. Honestly, if you can make Ulric like you, I’d want you two to be together.”
At least, Rebecca wasn’t like Sirena, who was scheming.
Rebecca was kind, pure, and cheerful, with good values, and importantly, the Walters family accepted her.
“You want to entrust him to me?”
“As long as Ulric can accept you.”
It all depended on whether Rebecca had that ability.
“He can’t.” Rebecca could give her that answer right now. “Ms. Ruell, when Mr. Walters was on the brink of death, he only uttered your name! If it weren’t for the belief in you supporting him, he might not have survived the surgery! Faced with such loyal love, I don’t have the courage to challenge it, nor do I think I can replace you.”
Although Ulric fulfilled all her fantasies about love, his devotion to Rosalind made her hesitate.
Even if she married him, she’d just be a stand-in.
Perhaps not even a stand-in. Rebecca felt Ulric wouldn’t even pay attention to her!
After saying this, she walked away briskly, leaving Rosalind alone on the chair. Her eyes gradually reddened until she covered her face and began to cry softly.

Ulric finally realized Rosalind was gone.
He had just disconnected from a video conference when he immediately called her.
She didn’t answer her phone.
A huge sense of panic struck him instantly. Ulric didn’t even bother putting on a coat as he rushed out of the hospital room.
She couldn’t have left, could she?
He had clearly told her that he would find a way to get the evidence and that she didn’t need to worry!
Ulric didn’t see Rosalind anywhere in the hospital building. He called again but still got no response.
Suddenly feeling a pain in his chest, he instinctively covered his heart with his hand.
Just as he was about to call the monitoring room to check her whereabouts, Ulric finally saw Rosalind walking in from the entrance with her head down.
Rosalind sensed his gaze and instinctively looked up to meet it.
“Ulric-”
She didn’t even finish calling his name before Ulric pulled her into his arms.
Due to their height difference, Rosalind could only lean against his chest and listen to his fiercely beating heart.
He was scared.
Visibly anxious.
“Ulric, I didn’t leave.”
“Shut up!”
It was the harshest tone he had ever used with Rosalind.
She waited for his heartbeat to slow down a bit before reaching out to hug him back.
“I promise you that if I ever leave, I’ll tell you first, okay?”
To spare Ulric from living in constant fear and anxiety.
Seeing panic on Ulric’s usually cold and proud face was rare, but lately, it had become frequent.
Whether Rosalind was in the hospital room or bathroom or just sitting on the sofa looking at documents on her computer, his gaze always followed her closely.
“You’re going to leave?” Ulric caught onto that key point in her words.
“No, I was just saying it.”
“I never want to hear these words from your mouth again!” Ulric interrupted sharply. “Rosalind, you might as well just take my life. I’ll give it to you.”
