Logan’s POV.
“He almost got me, okay? He fucking had his man smash my back with a god-damn, baseball baton.” I cursed angrily as I kept on pacing about.
“And you all expect me to be calm? You think he is here just to threaten us?” I scowled as I looked at them.
“At least, just calm down. This won’t help and you know it. We just have to think of something else.” Owen shrugged as he raised his eyebrows, while he looked at me.
“Think of something else?” I slammed as I couldn’t help calm down my heart that has been racing ever since I narrowly dodged that baseball bat that damaged the windscreen of my car.
“Didn’t you see my windscreen? The left side is completely damaged. That was meant to smash my head and what if that has touched me? I guess I would have had my skull splattered all over the ground in the parking lot.” I cursed as I kept on pacing about.
“Why don’t we just involve our parents? It will be easier handling him that way. Don’t you think so?” Helen suggested as she looked at us.
“Involve our parents?”
Before anyone could say a word, I gasped out. There was absolutely no way I was going to buy the whole ‘parents’ stuff’ in this.
This was more complicated than before. I turned around as I looked at the waves. The breeze was cold enough to freeze anyone up but right that moment, all I felt was the heat that came with the whole thing.
There was no way I wasn’t going to go down the moment father discovers that I was responsible for Liam’s death.
“But then, what I couldn’t understand was how he knew I was the killer. How didn’t I notice that all along, I have been getting stalked by the last man I thought was gone forever?” I rolled my eyes as I tried holding up my tears.
I felt my heart ache deeply as I couldn’t just confide in them. They will only loathe me and with time, resent me.
“But what if he was only trying to make me confess to my crime? What if he isn’t sure that I am the one behind Liam’s death? If he was certain, why doesn’t he have a single proof?” I shrugged as I exhaled heavily as I turned around.
“We just have to let them know. They will go out of their way just to protect us, Logan. We have absolutely nothing to fear!!” Owen finally succumbed to Helen’s suggestion, causing me to groan at the thought of it.
“There is no way I will go to jail. Not even eight years in jail. Hell no, I can’t!!” He shuddered.
I could see the fear all over his face. I turned to Peterson and Jack who wore a straight face.
And looking at Patricia, she had nothing significant to lose even if she also played a minor role in the whole incident.
“You know what?” I scowled as I rolled my eyes. “You all can just count me out, okay?” I said as I forced out a broad smile as I looked at them.
“Come on, Logan. Why are you being difficult right now? How do you expect me to win Collins? Can’t you see that a lot has changed?” Jack sneered as he got up from where he sat. “Today he was very close to killing you and you still won’t come to accept that there is absolutely nothing we can do here.” He scowled.
“He may be whatever he is but then, I am a Bohen and I will go to any length just to make sure that I take him down. I won’t give in easily.” I cursed.
“Being stubborn won’t help you, Logan!!” Peterson said as he rolled his eyes. “And considering the fact that he is suddenly close to your uncle, Jayson, we can’t say for sure what he is up to.” Peterson mumbled as he looked at me.
“Will you continue being this difficult? Why is it so hard for you to just let go of your pride, Logan? At least if not for anyone, then do it for your mother who dearly loves you, since you won’t listen to us.” Helen snapped as she walked up to me.
I frowned my face as I looked away. “And what impact do you think will be made when we finally get our parents involved? Do you think it will solve anything?” Logan said as he turned back as he looked at each and everyone of them.
“You never can’t really say, Logan.” Helen said in a calm tone as she looked at me.
“Fine!!” I snapped as I looked away. I couldn’t go ahead declining their request because I wouldn’t want them thinking deeper as to why I was hell-bent on not letting our parents in.
“Good enough.” Owen said with a broad smile as he looked at me.
We emptied a packet of soda before driving back to the banquet.
“Father?” I shrugged as I walked up to where he stood.
He remained quiet as he kept on looking outside the house.
“I… I have something important to tell you.” I stuttered as I was gathering the courage too.
I stood directly beside him, exhaled sharply as I clenched the wooden frame. I also looked outside as I saw the other founding families leave.
I swallowed my saliva as I turned to look at him. “I am sorry for always being a bad son and… I know that you are sick and tired of always getting dragged into the mess I always create.” I said in a calm voice as I turned to him as he continued looking away.
He finally moved as he turned to my direction. “And what is it this time around?” He questioned as he wore a straight face.
“Collins Morgan is back!!” I forced out a smile as my heart raced wild.
“Yeah, I saw him. I wondered why you never mentioned it to me.” He said as he furrowed his eyebrows as he looked right into my eyes.
“I… I was scared…”
“Well, he left a message for all of us.” Alphonso raised his eyebrows as he looked at me and without saying an extra word, he walked away, leaving me all to myself.
