ANASTASIA
That week, Diego was making serious preparations for this upcoming mission. They had to make use of an empty room in the mansion to run some technical wiring just because of Xavier.
The Beta succeeded in faking a comeback to his fellow Mafias that he reached out to. He lied about hiding from a killer who almost ended his life.
But he didn’t mention Diego’s name.
With the help of the team, Diego was able to cover our location from the Mafias. They won’t have a clue that the Beta is here in Crescent pack.
Watching them work, I found myself admiring my Alpha. He displayed his intelligence by directing his men on what to do and how the operation would be handled.
Honestly, it felt like everything was back in the right place.
I was proud of him.
While watching from the door, Diego’s eyes fell at my direction. Our eyes came locking for a few seconds, and just when I was about to look away, he… Smiled!
My face flushed red when I saw the curve appearing at the side of his lips for me.
It made my cheeks burn, forcing me to finally look away with a light smile spreading.
In fact, I had to leave so they could have their privacy.
The following day, the good news came in.
Xavier was given the new location to where the next batch of the drugs would be delivered, as well as the date.
It was in two days time, and that was more than enough for Diego, who couldn’t wait to get down to the location and execute the plan.
“That place is heavily guarded,” Xavier warned, bringing this to Diego’s notice. “I know this because I’ve been there before,” He boasted, raising his shoulder to show off.
Well, it seems my Alpha knows that already. The eye roll he gave the Beta got me laughing from where I stood. And my action attracted Diego’s attention. He caught me giggling from the corner where I hid!
When I saw him looking right at me, I quickly pretended to be calling out to a maid and ran away from that place.
I felt silly doing that, but it was better.
Then on the night to the mission, I was sitting in the bathroom, touching myself to ease the infection when suddenly, I heard a knock on my door.
It startled and forced me to go and check who it was.
“Who is it?!” I asked, struggling to hold back my urges.
When I opened the door, I was stunned to find Diego outside my room!
Crap! Why is he here?!
He stood there without his shirt on, and the sight of his body sent a strong wave inside me. My wolf was craving to have him!
I had to try and resist the itch by standing properly to hide my problem from the Alpha.
“What are you doing here? I thought you’d be sleeping by now, since you’re heading out very early?” I questioned, holding the door to suppress myself.
That’s when he said, making it really hard for me to resist, “I know… But I want to spend the night with you. I just want this few hours to be about us.”
My heart sank when I heard Diego. He’s trying to patch things between us. But my condition is standing in our way. I can’t help but feel so upset with my life!
I dropped my head down and wanted to come up with something to send Diego back, but he was here to stay like he said.
Before I could even open my mouth to speak, Diego was standing right in my front, closing up the space between us.
I shivered when I saw how near he was, and that got me stepping back.
Diego took the chance to shut the door behind, as he drew near, snatching me into his hold from the waist.
My body trembled when he locked his arm around me, caressing his face on mine beautifully.
I’m beginning to lose it. My infection is increasing!
My breathing had turned heavy from the heat I was feeling, and that disrupted Diego who felt I was still afraid of him after what happened.
The look of unhappiness in his eyes showed how angry he was with himself. Honestly, I was pained seeing this.
“Anna,” He called, carefully placing me on the bed to sit.
Diego knelt before me and said, placing his head on my laps, “You didn’t deserve that treatment. I should have controlled myself. I… I didn’t mean to hurt you. I just wanted everything to go according to my orders.”
He held my legs, comfortably resting on me.
Seeing this, I was touched.
“I know I’ve been going after Woods to exact my revenge on him, but I never forgot about you. I never did.”
Even though I was battling with my problem, my Alpha Lord’s words gave me strength.
I could finally feel the presence of the man I fell in love with.
My Diego.
“I just want to keep you away from that man. I want to protect you at all cost. This is something I failed to do in the past, and I don’t want it repeating again with you. I don’t want you out of my sight, Anna. I don’t.”
I bit down on my lip when his grip went tighter, like he was trying his best to keep me close.
“Anna, I’m sorry. I’m really sorry for being a fucking jerk. I got carried away.”
“Diego,” I called sadly, lifting his head to look at his face.
When I stared into his hurting gaze, I melted right there, remembering why I fell so deeply for this beautiful soul before me.
“I can understand you, and now I know why you weren’t yourself. But I need you to remember that you have no reason to feel all alone in such hellish situations. You have me by your side now. I’m your partner.”
“Anna, this battle is dangerous. I don’t want you getting…”
“I know. You are afraid you’d lose me like your father and brother. You are worried that you’d fail like Woods said, that’s why you went hard on yourself and on everyone around you. You were lost.”
He stared in surprise, probably wondering how I knew about his past.
“I see that clearly now. I can see it all. Still, I want you to step out of your cage and share all your hidden problems with me. I don’t want you to keep me out anymore. I want to be a part of your life and help you overcome any form of challenges you’re facing. That’s why we’re a team. Mate or not… You’re still the one I love, and…”
I sniffed, feeling my tears streaming out of my eyes.
“And I don’t want anything to keep us apart. I don’t want what happened to repeat itself again. I don’t want to find myself in a situation where I have to rethink over and over why I’m still with you. Don’t… Push me away, please,” I begged, crying before him.
“I won’t… ever again. I promise,” He said, wrapping his arms around me in an embrace.
After one month, Diego finally found his way back to me.
I feel so glad that he did this soon. My Alpha Lord is back.
.
The next day, Diego left Crescent with Arnold, Beta Xavier, and his men for the mission.
Before they exited the mansion to start this mission, Diego made a promise with so much love in his heart for me, vowing to get the drugs and work extremely hard to make a cure.
His words finally brought peace to my heart. And with trust, I told him I always believed in him.
Since I was all alone, I decided to head to the lab and be with Jeremy.
It wasn’t my check up day, but he was glad to have someone around to talk to.
“For real?!” He exclaimed when I told him Diego was back.
I nodded with a smile, giving Jeremy a sigh of relief.
“Oh, thank you Goddess! The storm has finally passed. Oh, at last!” He covered his face, singing the Goddess’s name.
With a smile on my face, I shared my plans with Jeremy. “When he’s back, I’ll tell him what happened. I think it’s time he learns about the truth.”
“That’s very important. And I’m sure everything would be calm because he’ll be bringing a whole crate of the substance for me to work on,” Jeremy exaggerated, making me chuckle.
When he saw the glow on my face, he said, “I’m happy to see your smiles again, Anna. Very soon, everything will be fine.”
“Thanks, Jerry,” I appreciated.
Soon, a security guard came over to call Jeremy’s attention. The doctor left to attend to whatever thing the guard was showing him, while I decided to take a stroll around the place.
Walking pass the room where the cell was located, I was suddenly drawn by the giggling of the two ladies locked up.
They sounded so excited like something great was going to happen.
Curious, I stood at the entrance, listening to them talk about Diego and Xavier.
I felt they were just grumbling over the fact that my Alpha didn’t set them free, until I heard something shocking.
“He’ll be back once that bloody Mafia is dead.”
“Of course. It’s part of the plan after all.”
Huh?
What plan?
“I thought Xavier was being stupid when he came up with that idea to trick Alpha Diego into taking his suggestion. Fuck, he’s a genius!”
“That man won’t survive this attack. Alpha Woods and the others will kill him before he gets to the drugs. I just hope Xavier is able to inform them quickly of Diego’s presence. That will spice everything real quick.”
They laughed again, still talking about the secret plan Xavier made!
Damn it! And we thought Xavier was being serious about helping out in exchange for his freedom?!
Oh no, Diego is in danger!
Horrified by this, I ran back to meet Jeremy and told him what I just heard. He was shocked and immediately took out his phone to reach both Arnold and Diego.
But their lines weren’t going through. They weren’t answering!
“Shit! Why now?!” Jeremy groaned, trying again.
Seeing that it’s the same result, ” I’ll have to go and help them before it’s too late,” I decided, hurrying out to save my Diego from being killed by his enemies.
I’m coming.
