ANASTASIA
I don’t know how to take this sudden decision from Diego but, why is he coming to the lab?
I can’t even ask Arnold that question now that the Alpha is here with us, and the Beta isn’t helping matters with that smile on his face.
Why is he looking at me like that?
I frowned at Arnold, who gave a light chuckle and said, facing the steering wheel, “Let’s hit the road.”
“Goodness, we are really heading there with Diego. Did he suddenly have a change of heart after last night? Did he place his work aside to be with me during my check up?” I wondered with a blush, playing with my fingers while keeping my head down.
Arnold started his car and drove out of the premises.
Where I sat, I was beginning to feel stuffed in my seat, looking for a way to ease this troubling feeling I was getting.
Whenever the guards take me to see Jeremy, I always make the backseat of the car my own personal space.
I can stretch and do whatever I want, but with Diego here… Gosh, I feel choked.
To even look at him became hard. I know he’s busy with his phone since that’s what he was doing when he entered the car, but I still didn’t want to look at him.
I don’t know the kind of emotion that will stir out from the blue.
While keeping myself in the corner and trying to endure the discomfort I was getting, I gasped out suddenly on feeling my hand being held!
Who else is with me if not the Alpha himself?!
“Diego?” I called deep in my heart, turning to see my Alpha holding my hand while looking out through the window.
He wasn’t facing my direction, but his hand expressed something that made my heart pound emotionally.
His grip went tight and tenderly.
The sight of this reminded me of those beautiful memories we once shared. I felt sad just thinking about it.
When I lifted my eyes to look at my Alpha one more time, I found him staring at me.
His gaze no longer terrified me. It seemed more gentle and a bit cold.
I didn’t want to maintain the eye lock for long, so I just turned my face to the other side, leaving my hand in Diego’s hold.
And when I did this, I felt his body drawing closer to me, taking up the space in the center!
His sudden movement made me heat up from inside. I felt my skin crawling, as he came a bit near, carefully pulling my hand so I’d do the same.
The car was getting hot and I was getting really steamed up in my own body.
I didn’t struggle with Diego but drew nearer, feeling our arms resting against each other.
That’s how we stayed, feeling each other’s heat and taking in our scent.
We couldn’t look at ourselves in the eyes but our touch alone… It bloomed my heart and soul.
When we arrived at the lab, I thought it was to carry out a check up on me for Diego to see, but it turned out that my Alpha was here for a different thing entirely.
He came here for Beta Xavier!
It turns out that Jeremy has been discussing with the infected Beta and got him to change his nasty sides and do what is sensible.
Giving in to the Doctor’s words, Xavier told Jeremy that he has a plan that will get Diego closer to his aim without being caught by Woods or the other Mafias.
“Another batch will be shipping in this week, just like every month. The location of their delivery would be made anytime soon. If you want to get your hands on one or a whole crate, then I suggest you let me join your team so I can help you get in and handle everything. It’ll be easy!” Xavier shared from his cell.
I was standing at the door while Diego and Arnold listened to the Beta’s plan.
The ideas he shared felt really good, but I wasn’t comfortable with Diego working along with this pervert of a man.
But what can I do?
Diego is desperate to get his hands not on the drugs alone, but on Woods.
Xavier promised to help him get to the Alpha of SilverCrest and exact his revenge once and for all, on the Mafia Lord.
And that was enough to steal Diego’s interest.
“But you need to let me reach out to them from a different phone and location. They need to think I’ve been hiding away for my own safety and not locked up like a chicken,” Xavier suggested, grumbling at his surrounding.
Since the Beta has now become a part of their plan, he was set free from his cell.
“Baby!” The girls called out to Xavier when they saw he was free. They also wanted Diego to let them out of their cages.
But that’s a no.
“Don’t think I trust you wholeheartedly, Beta. You’re just playing a role in this plan.” Diego grabbed him by the singlet, pulling him towards the door.
I had to step aside, allowing them to pass.
Diego had glanced at me while Xavier gave me a lustful smile, still showing that pervy side of his.
“I think I know that well, Alpha,” Xavier said, grunting.
That’s when Diego made him a promise he couldn’t refuse. “If you succeed in helping me through like you said, then I’ll grant you and your dolls your freedom.”
When he heard this, Xavier agreed.
I still stood at the door to the cell, watching Diego pull Xavier away.
Arnold, who followed from behind slowly, stopped and gestured me over.
Sighing out, I came up to him and began walking side by side with the Beta.
“How do you feel today?” He asked, matching with my footsteps.
I hummed, having no words to describe it.
A soft chuckle escaped Arnold’s lips. “I saw how you both glued yourself together at the backseat of my car. Looks like he’s slowly pulling himself from the dark paths.”
“Was that your doing?” I questioned Arnold, suspecting him.
He lifted his brow like he didn’t grab that question. So, I made it more clearer to him.
“Diego is being too close now. You spoke to him last night, didn’t you? You told him about my plans to leave, right?”
“No, I didn’t,” Arnold said, swaying his head at this. “I didn’t even tell him anything about your plan. You did.”
“What?” I uttered, wondering how.
“Have you forgotten when you begged me to send him away from your room?” He reminded, putting a stop to our walk. “He heard what you said about leaving him, Anna. I didn’t tell him anything.”
I froze, remembering how Diego stared at my teary eyes from the door.
Arnold told me what had happened when he went to speak to Diego.
He said Diego had left the room before he even approached him. And when he followed him back to his own bedroom, the first thing he asked of was the mark he left on me.
“He was worried that you got really hurt and came back to check on you. But hearing you speak about your wish to run away from him… He was struck,” Arnold shared with sadness.
“Your cries and begging got to him, Anna. He wasn’t happy with himself,” Arnold added.
That will explain his deep and hurtful plea from last night. And I thought Arnold said something to get Diego all clingy towards me.
But that was my Diego taking the step on his own. He really came to stop me from taking that decision.
Oh Goddess!
“I wasn’t lying to you when I said he still loves you, Anna. He’s struggling to get himself back on track. And I think his action should put him back in place now. He’s showing signs already.”
“Yeah,” I agreed, wrapping my arms across my body.
“I just hope that he changes completely before…” I paused, having no need to complete it. But I’m sure Arnold gets it.
Finding this emotional feeling stressful for me, Arnold changed the topic by speaking about this plan Xavier came up with.
To him, this might just be the move we need to save my life real quick.
“We’re going to get the cure, Anna. Soon, all these problems will become a thing of the past.” He smiled, showing his delight.
I had to return the gesture, hoping this plan works out for us.
