Mia’s POV
Since I already told my family about everything, it was good enough. The next day, I packed all my things and prepared to go. I felt a bit nervous finally moving somewhere I didn’t know, especially with what happened to me before-that I almost got scammed by that fake Lucas, or should I call him Keith?
However, when I thought about how I could save my father’s life, the only thing I was thinking about was getting close to him and saving his life. So, I forgot about all the fears I had. Besides, I am the white wolf. It’s not easy to get rid of someone like me. I don’t think I would easily die.
Daisy came to say goodbye to me. “I’m going to miss you a lot. It’s a pity I have a lot of obligations to attend to. If not, I would have followed you.”
I shook my head. “You don’t have to apologize. It’s not your fault. Besides, I’m just going to find a way to save my father. I won’t be gone forever. I will be back as soon as I can, I promise you.”
She scoffed. “I think you can be gone forever. If you don’t come soon, I will come there to look for you. I already told you that yesterday.”
I wanted to laugh at what she said, but some people interrupted our sweet moment. At that time, my brother was arriving, and I could see the brothers coming behind him. What is going on here?
I’m very sure I didn’t discuss anything with them. Or are they here for their job? Then it’s good enough-I can finally tell them to stay away while I go look for a way to save my father.
I ran to my brother to welcome him. “You’re here!”
I was excited to see him more than anything because I just couldn’t wait to save our father. But looking at those people behind him always made my mood sour.
“Yes, and I brought some people with me. I hear they are your bodyguards, right?” he asked me.
I looked at them for an explanation, but they seemed to be avoiding my eyes. They weren’t saying anything. Are they stalking me, or what? There’s no way they could have immediately found out that I was going to travel. I thought I could leave without them knowing.
“I know you might find this hard to believe, but I don’t know who they are. They might be scammers. You shouldn’t believe them,” I replied to my brother, even though he had already met them before.
“I know you’re not in a good mood anytime you see them, but they offered to protect you on the way there, and I couldn’t refuse. Since they would come with us, they will be a lot of help watching over you,” he explained to me.
Maybe his logic made sense, but when it comes to these brothers, I don’t want to see them anywhere around me. They are evil, annoying, and the most selfish people I have ever seen in my life. They just couldn’t let go of this one. Even though they want to use that “protection” as a way to get close to me again, I don’t buy it. I hate the fact that they won’t let me have my moment. They’re still going to follow me to meet my father. What are they going to do? An in-law introduction?
“Dear cousin, I know it’s a bit hard for you to understand this, but these people are not good people. Besides, their job only ends here. They don’t have to follow her everywhere. Don’t you have warriors in your pack?” Daisy quickly backed me up.
Rolex moved closer to Daisy. “I don’t think you should talk to us like that. We are not bad people, and we just want to protect her. She is our mate, after all.”
“I have nothing to do with you! I’m not your mate! You should get that right!” I quickly denied it.
He might have felt embarrassed that I was denying them, but that’s the truth for me. My brother quickly stepped in between us before we had an argument.
“That’s okay. I think we already made our points clear. There’s no need to fight over this. We can just move together in harmony. What do you think?”
“No!” I protested.
I thought my brother would listen to me and not let them follow me, but I was wrong. The moment I entered the car after arguing with him, I saw the brothers coming in the car with us. Did I forget to mention my brother is having two luxurious cars driving him home?
“What are you doing here? You should be in the other car!” I quickly dismissed them.
Instead of my brother backing me up, he quietly got out of the car, and I was confused. I was left in the car with the people I hated the most. But that didn’t stop me from anything. I brought out my headphones and started playing on my phone so that I didn’t have to listen to them.
But I could feel their burning gaze on my body. I felt like sinking into the ground. I hated being in between them the most. What if they try to kill me again this time around? The worst thing is that Nathan was the one driving the car again.
“Are you going to try to kill me this time around?” I asked him as he drove.
“I’m not trying to kill you. I’m just trying to get you to your destination,” he replied without looking back.
I sneered. “I wouldn’t be surprised if you threw the car off a cliff with me inside. I mean, you guys are willing to do anything to make me perish, right?”
“Will you stop accusing us of what we didn’t do?” Sean sounded mad, but who cares?
I laughed at them and continued playing on my phone while putting back my headphones. I didn’t talk to them throughout the entire ride, and I was busy chatting with Daisy. She was anxious at home and wanted to know the atmosphere with them.
She hated me riding with them the most because of what happened to me before. I had already told her everything, so she knew they had tried to kill me once. But there’s nothing to be afraid of. They will have to answer to my brother if anything happens to me.
We finally arrived at the place after some hours, and I couldn’t help but notice how huge the mansion house was. It looked like a countryside house, but it was so big, with a lot of greenery and rivers flowing through it.
Other mansions I’ve seen have a lot of modern architecture in them, but this one had old architecture, which was kind of unique and beautiful. I actually loved what I was seeing here. It had three-story buildings, and it was as high as it could be. As the car passed through, we saw a lot of people working around. They seemed to be the warriors guarding the place and the maidens working here.
“Wow, this is so beautiful. The Golden Corral Pack is one of a kind indeed.”
The car finally stopped, and I got out immediately. I didn’t bother to look back at them. I went to the booth to get my things and made my way toward my brother.
I was amazed by everything I saw and how respectful the people were. We followed my brother inside, and the interior was magnificent. I wasn’t even exaggerating. I almost forgot the reason why I came here.
I could see a lot of treasures around the house, but my brother hadn’t said anything as we quietly followed him inside. He led us upstairs until we got to the third floor. Some people were already waiting for us there, and they welcomed us.
They were so nice, and they showed us our rooms and gave us a key to go to our rooms. It seemed like there was enough room to accommodate all of them, even if they wanted to choose one by one.
After admiring the whole place, I came back to my senses as to the reason why I’m here in the first place-my father’s health.
“Lucas, can we go and see him now? I’ve been here for a few hours, and I think I’ve settled down enough,” I asked him.
He stood up and took my hands. “Let’s go and see him. He’s also been waiting for you.”
I slowly entered the room after him, and I couldn’t help but also admire the place. However, the huge bed was a big distraction in this room. From where I stood, I finally saw his face-the one who was supposed to be my father.
He was indeed in a coma and looked like he was dead.
