Xavier’s POV
“What did you just say?”
We couldn’t believe what we had just heard from our brother. It seemed like he was trying to play tricks on us, but at the same time, it felt like the truth-which was why we were all shocked to listen to what he said.
I moved closer to him and touched his forehead to see if he was burning up, but he was completely fine.
“You’re completely fine, so you couldn’t have been saying nonsense. And you’re not hallucinating, so what did you say again?”
“I’m telling you all that I just found out Mia’s real identity. She is the white wolf, and she has been hiding it from us for so long,” Sean replied again.
It sounded both funny and serious at the same time. Mia is our mate who can save us, and she is also the white wolf who can save herself. So in the end, she’s the only one who can save us both ways.
“What do you mean? We clearly concluded that she’s not the white wolf. Where did you see that?” Rolex fired at him.
But Nathan was different-it seemed like he believed what Sean said.
“I think he’s telling the truth. You guys should connect the dots and see it for yourselves. We’ve been right all along. Why don’t you guys just want to listen?” Nathan sounded angry.
“Then… she has been lying to us for years?”
I suddenly started recalling everything that happened in the past-how she managed to get wounded and was healing fast. At that time, it felt wrong to me, but we didn’t bother to look into it. It was also how she managed to knock out those sisters and lie that she did nothing.
Back then, we were sure that she had done something, but we couldn’t prove it, so we had to let it go. Could it be that she already had her wolf at that time and didn’t want to tell us because we were looking down on her? She also didn’t bother to save herself when she was framed… because she had her wolf.
“Technically, she hasn’t been lying to us. She doesn’t owe us an explanation after what we did to her,” Rolex replied.
“Remember what happened to our cousins when we found them on the floor that day? Remember how they said Mia attacked them, but Mia was the one who was wounded the most?” Nathan asked.
Sean sighed. “Yeah, that was the beginning of everything. We had already been treating her badly before, but that was the ultimate thing we did to send her away. We deserve everything that’s happening to us now.”
I left the room to check on her, and somehow, I saw her walking alone. She seemed to be deep in thought. I couldn’t help but see her in a different light now. It means that the key to our survival is in her hands. She is the only one who can save us in this world-but she won’t.
It’s hard to talk to her, knowing how much she hates us and how she has tried to destroy us these last few days. But we need to do everything to get her back. We can’t let her get taken away by anyone else.
Speaking of that… I looked at her again and saw that she had already been stopped by another guy. At first, I thought they were just casually talking, but it became strange when I saw him holding her hand.
It seemed like he was flirting with her.
And she was flirting back.
I couldn’t take it anymore. I quickly ran toward them and stopped whatever was happening. She was shocked when she saw me arriving. I pushed the guy away and stood beside her.
“Who are you?” I asked him.
“Me? I’m just trying to talk to her. You don’t need to know who I am,” he said, obviously scared, and ran away.
I was happy that he knew his place and got out of my way immediately. But when I looked at Mia, she wasn’t having it. She was glaring at me like she wanted to kill me.
“Why did you send him away? What do you want from me?”
“I thought he was trying to harass you, which is why I came to intervene. Sorry about that,” I lied.
“I told you already that I don’t need you all to care for me. Stay out of my business and leave me alone! Since when did you care about who talks to me or not?” she asked me.
I didn’t have an appropriate answer to give her, so I decided to turn around and leave. I didn’t say anything else and quickly left that place.
I was a bit embarrassed that I had let my jealousy show like that-and got her angry.
When I went back to my brothers, they were still thinking about the situation. The shock was obviously too much for us. Looking at Mia now, we finally realized why she had gained so much confidence and refused to forgive us.
We were the ones who needed her.
Not the other way around.
“What are we going to do about this situation now that we know she’s indeed the white wolf? How do we turn things around?” I started the conversation again.
“By being kind to her and treating her like a princess. Maybe her heart would soften a little, and she would give us a chance,” Rolex said.
I rolled my eyes at his suggestion. “We’ve been doing that all along, but she’s not yielding at all. You think being a little bit nicer won’t seem weird to her? After all, we are the devils that changed her into what she is now,” Sean added.
We all sat down, staring at the ceiling without saying anything.
It’s tough living this life.
We went from being powerful and prestigious to being a bunch of losers-thanks to our bad decisions in the past. If we could turn back time, we would have picked her up right from when she was a child to save her.
It seems the only thing we can do now is try to get her to look at us.
Which is kind of difficult…
Because she hates our guts.
Are we actually going to die?
