Mia’s POV
I fell unconscious because of the energy I used to heal myself, and when I woke up, it was already evening.
Maybe he realized I was in a deeper part of the woods.
I got up and walked around until I finally realized that he had dragged me here to hide his secret-his attempt to kill me.
I decided to go back to the training ground to check on everyone, and I could see there was chaos.
I stood somewhere to watch the situation carefully before stepping in, and I could hear the bastard who tried to kill me lying to everyone, saying something else had attacked me.
“I’m telling you, there is nothing like that in our training ground! We’ve been using this place for years, and this is the first time I’m hearing that there’s a monster stronger than werewolves,” the head coordinator said to him.
But he kept arguing with the head coordinator.
“I’m telling you, I saw it drag her away and eat her! I tried to save her life, but there was nothing more I could do. You searched around the woods all along-did you find her?”
Sean grabbed his collar.
“Tell us the truth right now! You were supposed to practice with her. How did she even enter there in the first place?”
“Let go of him!” Alpha Kent defended him. “He’s my friend, and I know him well. Do you think you can suspect him of doing something to her?”
“I tried to save her, which is why I got this injury, but I couldn’t. Besides, you know she’s very arrogant and stubborn. I did tell her to run away, but she didn’t listen to me.”
Nathan punched him while Kent quickly grabbed him.
I could see the smile on his face when no one else was looking.
Everyone else was scared and confused at the same time. They must have been looking for me for a very long time. He did well hiding me, at least no one would have thought to look for me here.
But what he doesn’t know is that I don’t die easily.
“Mia isn’t like that! You must interrogate him! I’m very sure he did something to her!” Daisy defended.
“I didn’t do anything to her! I won’t let myself be wrongly accused of things I didn’t do! If you don’t believe me, why don’t you stay in the woods and see if you get killed by that monster or not?”
His lies were making me angry, so I decided it was time to finally show myself.
“Are you sure it’s the ‘monster’ that tried to kill me, or was it someone else?”
My voice cut through the air, drawing everyone’s attention.
Everyone turned to look at me in shock.
They all stood up, probably because they thought they were looking at a ghost or because they had actually believed the ridiculous story about a monster in the woods.
“You! You… How…?”
His eyes widened in shock as he looked at me.
He could hardly get any words out.
“Why am I still alive after you tried to kill me with your dagger and poison?” I asked him.
Everyone turned to him and gasped.
They were surprised that he had done that. Shouldn’t everyone be able to see through his schemes? Why are they all stupid enough to believe everything he says?
“Everyone! She’s the monster! You shouldn’t believe her! She’s here now to take every one of us! The monster must have changed into her-we should kill her immediately!” he shouted.
And a few stupid people believed him.
“Do I look like a monster to you?
You all just want an opportunity to get rid of me because you think I’m not qualified to be here, isn’t that right?”
The brothers quickly stepped forward and stood in front of me.
“We’d like to see the person who would dare to hurt her,” one of them said.
“If you’re ready to die, then come through us,” another added.
I moved closer to him.
“You want to bury this quickly so people believe your useless story? You said I offended someone I shouldn’t have offended.
Who the hell did you try to kill me for?”
He’s probably doing this for Alpha Kent.
But I need to make him confess it himself, or else my accusations will be groundless.
“You… I clearly gave you a poison that should have killed you! How did you survive? What kind of monster are you?” he shouted.
“So you’re admitting to trying to kill me, right?”
He scoffed.
“So what? You deserved it! How dare you try to humiliate my master? You deserve to die!
I don’t care if I die now-but since I wasn’t able to finish it earlier, I’ll finish it now!”
He grabbed his dagger again and tried to attack me, but he was immediately subdued by the one person he cared so much about.
“Master! I did it for you! She deserved to die! Anyone who disrespects you must not live!”
Alpha Kent stopped him.
“I never asked you to do anything for me, you idiot!
She wasn’t lying after all!
Even though I hate her right now, that doesn’t give you the right to kill anyone!”
“How loyal,” I mocked.
“I don’t forgive people easily. And I’m going to settle this score with you later.
For now, I’m doing what I came here to do.”
“Guards, take them away!” the coordinator commanded, and they dragged them out of there.
Daisy ran to hug me. I could see how worried she was. They almost believed I had died. If it wasn’t for my wolf, I would have.
The organizers apologized for what had happened and gave me time off to rest.
While I was heading back to my room, Nathan stopped me.
“The dagger he was holding was a very strong one-one that could kill a werewolf even without poison.
How did you survive that so fast?” he questioned me.
I scoffed.
“You must have been hoping I was dead since you have the time to ask me this question?”
“I just want to know how you survived! It’s not like I wish you were dead,” he defended himself.
“Maybe I was just lucky. Maybe it was a miracle. Either way, it’s none of your business. So much for protecting me when you can’t even do your job properly.”
I quickly walked away after that.
I made sure he wasn’t following me.
What the hell is he trying to do? Look into the fact that I healed so fast? They should just mind their business! Are they trying to make me a target?
It’s already bad enough that people are suspicious about how I came out of this alive.
I have to be very careful in this place.
