Marely could actually walk, but it looked unseemly, so she simply sat in the wheelchair like an eye candy. The task of pushing the eye candy naturally fell to Mollie.
“Are you feeling proud of yourself?” Marely asked.
“Proud of what? Proud that you dragged me out here on a perfectly good night to attend this event, or proud that I have to push your wheelchair?”
She loved to speak to Marely in a sarcastic tone, just to annoy her.
Marely looked at Mollie with jealousy in her eyes and suddenly said slowly, “Mollie, using beauty to please others, how long can that last?”
Mollie was about to respond when Marely suddenly pushed off with her good left leg, sending the wheelchair rolling down the slope.
Marely screamed, “Help! Save me!”
She looked like a falling butterfly.
All eyes turned to Mollie.
Their mother hurriedly pushed through the crowd and slapped Mollie across the face.
Mollie didn’t feel the pain, nor did she explain. She just looked at Marely, who was now surrounded by doctors, with a sympathetic gaze that made Marely’s act of being wronged even more convincing.
Bridger was not far away. He saw everything and frowned, his voice turning cold, “Come with me.”
Everyone whispered among themselves. The Hudson family’s stepdaughter was truly wicked; Bridger wouldn’t let her off easily.
Mollie obediently followed Bridger into his study.
The tall man stood with his back to her, unbuttoning his cuff with one hand. The phone on the desk still had its screen lit.
Mollie smelled a faint sandalwood scent, a fragrance that carried a hint of forbidden allure, perfectly blending with his mysterious aura.
Mollie called softly, “Mr. Kaiser.”
Bridger turned around and looked at her for a moment before speaking, “You’ve lost weight.”
He had been on a business trip to Switzerland for two months. They hadn’t seen each other or even spoken on the phone.
Mollie stood on tiptoe to help Bridger take off his coat. She felt his breath on her ear as he spoke in a displeased tone, “Did you do it?”
Mollie didn’t answer. Instead, she poured a glass of water and handed it to Bridger.
“Mr. Kaiser, in what capacity are you questioning me?”
Bridger’s tone rose slightly as he reminded her, “A year ago, you cornered me in the bathroom without wearing any underwear.”
Mollie turned her head, “That was in the past.”
Bridger grabbed her face and pried open her mouth. Her pale lips instantly turned red, and saliva dripped from the corner of her mouth.
Mollie struggled violently and bit him, shouting angrily, “No brother-in-law would treat his sister-in-law like this!”
Bridger found it amusing, “What did you call me?”
“Brother-in-law!”
His hand slid up her smooth leg as he suddenly laughed.
Mollie felt ashamed and tried to escape but was easily pulled back.
He pressed her onto the sofa and said, “Tell me, which is harder, me or your mouth?”
Mollie didn’t want to give in and raised her head defiantly, “I thought I made it clear a month ago.”
A month ago, Mollie had sent him a message: Let’s end this.
Bridger hadn’t replied or contacted her. Mollie thought this was an unspoken agreement between adults to part ways.
Bridger’s voice lowered, becoming incredibly seductive, “Then you shouldn’t have come today. Without me, are you looking for another rich heir? Using your ex as a stepping stone isn’t how business works.”
“Bridger!”
“Call me brother-in-law.”
Mollie couldn’t control her body’s reaction to him. Her eyes reddened as she softened against him, “Do you really believe I hurt Marely?”
Mollie had no morals; otherwise, she wouldn’t have seduced Marely’s husband in the first place.
Bridger had no morals either; otherwise, he wouldn’t have succumbed to Mollie’s seduction and even found himself addicted.
