“This might something be too important that you have to go here instead of waiting for us in the pack community.” His father, Hudson Black, commented seriously as Hunter entered his office.
He knew from Butler Henry that they will be meeting the elders tomorrow and planned since they have already talked to the Alpha King and Queen and had their go signal for the Triad’s eradication.
However, he couldn’t wait for them anymore.
And he had to tell them about the news even if he knew that they might have known it already. He didn’t want Leila to get hurt.
He knew that this decision might mean that he might lose being the Alpha’s son and worst got disown, but he didn’t care. He had to come clean and hope that Leila could be safe, if worst comes to worst and Leila might be drag to this. And he knew that it might be possible, he wouldn’t back down.
Alpha Hudson stared at his son as if he knew what he was thinking already and yet he was just waiting for him to talk about it.
“I am hoping that whatever plan you are planning about, get Leila out of it.” Hunter said straightforwardly.
Alpha Hudson darkly looked at him but didn’t say a word.
It was as if he was weighing down his son’s expression.
Then, he let out a deep sigh.
“You know that I can’t assure you that, Hunter.” He told him seriously.
And Hunter was already expecting it to come.
His father is one of the most loyal and most competent man and leader he had met. And he knew that he wouldn’t let his principles down just because of him. He would still choose what is right even though it was the most painful decision that he could do.
And regardless of how people somehow misunderstood him for choosing what is right than his own family, he still looked so proud of his father.
Even though most of the time, he felt like he was just a shadow of him and his brother. Even if it is he felt like he was the second best. Even if he felt like he was nothing in the family. Right now, he felt like he had this such understanding in him and all it was because of Leila.
She made him realize a lot of things about him and his family. She made him understand how important it is to be kind, understanding, and be loving. She made him understand that family isn’t a competition that he had to take but a supporter and a confidante.
“I know… Dad. But I am telling you that Leila is important to me. And I can do whatever I can for her to be safe.” Hunter stated as serious as his own father.
They both fell into silence.
It was as if they were trying to think rationally whatever that they could do for each other. Because right now they knew that his father was torn between being a leader and a father. And Hunter being a beta and a member of the pack and being Leila’s lover and protector, even if she didn’t even care about him anymore.
“You know that you are much like me now, Hunter.” Alpha Hudson broke the silence between them all of a sudden.
Hunter’s forehead creased for he wasn’t expecting him to say those words.
His father never really opens up about his own feelings much more about his relationship with their mother. All that they knew was that he truly, deeply, and sincerely loves their mother so much. And it was all that they saw every single time they were together.
He is completely like a different man whenever he was with their mother.
“Especially when in love. But right now, I am sincerely hoping for you to fight for your love and let it guide you to the good and right thing.” Alpha Hudson said genuinely.
Hunter was astounded.
He couldn’t stop himself from being so surprised.
Then, he smiled at him. It was the kind of smile that he wasn’t hoping to see. It was somewhat a reflection of hope, proudness, love and a lot more things that he couldn’t comprehend.
“So, let me capture the Triad leader and all of their members… Just make sure to protect Leila with all your might. Let’s trust in each other’s capabilities this time. So, whatever that you are thinking right now, I know that even if I don’t allow you to you are still going to do it.” Alpha Hudson playfully commented.
Hunter couldn’t stop himself from groaning.
“Whatever, Dad.” He frankly stated causing the latter to smile at him kindly.
This time, all of these thoughts about his father’s strong, dark, and ominous side vanished all of a sudden.
And he couldn’t stop himself from being grateful at that.
Hunter was about to go when his father called his name.
“Hunter…”
He turned to look at him.
This time, his expression softened which was making him more and more anxious and surprised at the same time.
“I know that it is been too hard for you growing in the pack, son…” Alpha Hudson seriously said while he was looking at him straight in the eyes.
Hunter swallowed hard as he went speechless.
“And I apologize for putting that pressure on you more…” He added causing Hunter to let out a deep sigh.
This time, it felt like a huge burden in his heart suddenly lifted up.
However, he didn’t want his father to feel like this.
He always saw him as someone who was strong and not like this… not so emotional… So, he shook his head.
“Don’t say such words, Dad. Having all of those experiences… I might say that it led us to where we are now. It leads us to be stronger not just physically but mentally and emotionally. You shouldn’t apologize for that. I know that you did your best to become a good father to us.” Hunter sincerely stated.
Alpha Hudson licked his lips as if he wasn’t expecting those words from him.
It had made him so speechless for a matter of seconds. He even blinked his eyes. Then, a small and sincere smile escaped from his lips.
“You are really a man now, Hunter.” He said those words with a hint of playfulness causing Hunter to scoff at him.
And all that he could do was to shake his head and turn his back at him.
He waved his hands in the air as if telling his father that he had to go.
“Be safe… Hunter.” Even if was a whisper from his father it reached his ears and it warmed his heart.

Meanwhile, in the Moon Howlers Pack community…
“Damn it!” Hector let out a low whisper as he heard a loud knock on the door.
He got up from bed as Myrtle groaned, as if she was going to wake up already. He instantly planted a soft kiss on his wife’s head and told him to continue her sleep before going to the door.
‘This might be good for waking me up this late…’ He whispered at himself mentally.
He opened the door, only to see Butler Henry’s worried looking face.
“What the hell is this about?” He snorted after saying those words.
However, the next thing he knew he was already cursing his brother’s name upon hearing his news.
“M-Master Hector… M-Master Hunter… He is missing!”
‘Damn it, Hunter! You should have planned this with us! Damn it! Make sure that you are safe, you fool!’ He couldn’t help but to whisper it all by himself as he looked straight into their butler’s eyes.
“Prepare everyone discreetly. We are going to the Triad base. And… Make sure to tell it to my father.” He immediately ordered as he closed the door and prepared himself for a possible battle.
