Chapter 77
Strong
***
“I am a seer, Leila.”
Her lips slightly parted ways as she stared at her.
Tammy’s expression didn’t even change, but she knew that she wouldn’t even joke about it. However, it was just so shocking to know.
Leila took a deep breath as she tried to process her thoughts.
“I know that it is hard to believe… But I am… And I know what situation you are into…” Tammy stated seriously as if she was completely trying to persuade her.
But Leila slightly shook her head. She gave her an unbelievable look it was as if she had her own thoughts, disagreeing with her.
“You see the future… And you let them… You are just too kind, Tamika…” She uttered coldly.
However, Tammy shook her head.
“I can’t see my future, Leila… And all I can do is to be kind… There will never be wrong in being kind…” She contradicted causing her to groan in annoyance.
Then, she smirked at her.
“There will never be wrong in being kind… That’s a ridiculous thinking, Tammy.” She said emphasizing her every word.
“This world won’t care when you are kind. They will simply abuse you… Betray you… And they thought that it is okay… It is okay because you are kind. It is never okay to be treated that way. Sometimes, you also need to be strong. You also need to fight for yourself. And it is never wrong to choose yourself. It is never wrong to fight to cope up with the pain and betrayal.” Leila continued.
She totally spites those words as if she was trying to tell her, her own side.
“You have a gift… Yes… Maybe it might be too hard to handle… Seeing the future of other people but not seeing yours… That’s… That’s too heartbreaking. But what is more heartbreaking is to let other people use and abuse you… And you just let them.” She reiterated coldly.
Tamika simply stared at her like the usual, her expression was all blank and void of any emotions.
“But I am not like you, Tammy. If you chose to be that way… Then, I won’t judge you. But this is how I do things on my own. I won’t let them get away with it. I just hope that our paths won’t cross again… Because if it is then, I can’t promise not to take drastic actions.” She said with finality as she walked towards the door.
But as she held the doorknob, she heard Tammy’s voice.
“I understand where those emotions are coming from, Leila… But don’t forget your roots. Don’t let yourself be driven by your own emotions…”
Those were Tammy’s final words for her.
But she was just too stubborn to listen to any of it.
There is no weighing scale to who’s hurt the less or the most.
We all get hurt one way or another.
It is inevitable.
However, there were some pains that needed to be process. And Leila… She had finally decided to seek justice for her father’s death. Even though she could hurt Hunter in the process.
Hunter.
Her heart still hurt just by thinking about him.
But the pain she felt was being overtaken by the betrayal and inner pain of her father’s death.
She couldn’t contest to that.
Especially the experiences she had with her mother when her father died.
The happy family that she grew up with instantly vanished into thin air.
Everything that her parents planned collapsed in just a blink of an eye.
“You are getting to obsessed with this, Leila. You have to take it easy…” Silver commented inside her head as she panted from running a mile.
For the past few days, she was trying to shift flawlessly.
Silver was supporting her for that.
And she managed to improve drastically.
Her senses enhanced so much that she could easily notice anyone even though they were still kilometers away.
Silver.
A legendary wolf.
She possessed something as strong and as wise as her inner wolf.
And she managed to handle her even control her and use it effectively.
However, apart from that, Leila knew that something also changed inside her.
She rarely talks and even smile which was Tammy trying to point out. But living with her for the past few weeks, she stopped commenting about that. Perhaps, she knew that it is not effective. She just wouldn’t listen to her especially at that aspect of her life.
This is her choice.
And she won’t simply turn around with what she decided to do.
Being with her, Leila knew that Tammy respected it already. She is just too worried of her even though she wouldn’t show it, she simply knew.
It was as if there was something between them that was making them understand each other without words.
“I need to go to the woods…” Tammy declared the very moment she went out of her room.
She looked at her. She had nothing to do, and she wanted to come with her. Tammy let out a deep sigh.
“You can come over if you like. But make sure not to get too far from me. We need to go to the depths of the South.” She warned her seriously.
She smiled at her sheepishly.
Well, the very first time she went with her at the part of the South, she almost got killed by the rogues. Especially when she was not ready yet.
But now, maybe she could test her improvements.
She smiled inwardly at that.
All that she could do near Tammy’s place was to run a mile and practice her shifting. Tammy would sometimes give her some advice to enhance her senses. But she wouldn’t fight with her.
And right now, all that she wanted is to fight someone to test herself. And coming with her in the depths of the South, she knew that sooner or later, they could encounter rogues.
Not just simple, average rogues.
But those rogues that were thirty of blood.
Leila smiled at that especially when she immediately noticed three rogues around them.
They tried to conceal themselves in the dark, but she knew better.
And even though Tammy wouldn’t tell her or ignored them she knew that she also noticed them.
Tammy let out a deep sigh as she looked at her.
“You are really waiting for this, huh?” She told her accusingly.
She smirked at her evilly.
“You just wouldn’t fight with me, so…” She shrugged her shoulders at that and nodded at her.
But Tamika shook her head.
“No, you just stay here. I can’t help you if they lure you to the deeper part. We are outnumbered.” Tammy stated seriously causing her left brow to shot upwards.
Because of her words, her forehead creased as she realized that she’s right.
There weren’t just three rogues around them now.
‘F*cking sh*t…’ She uttered inside her head.
