“This is not good, Leila…” Even Silver commented inside her head.
Leila knew that they might be doomed right now. They were caught off guard. And she wanted to blame herself for that.
‘How the heck could they freaking conceal their presence?’ She asked herself annoyed.
She only noticed three rogue presences a while ago.
But now…
There might be a dozen rogues around them now.
Damn it!
She just couldn’t believe it.
‘How the heck did that happen?’ She mentally asked herself once again for she thought that she had already improved.
That time, she just felt so annoyed and hopeless.
“We are in the depths of the South, Leila. This is their territory. Don’t be hard on yourself.” Silver answered deliberately as if she was trying to console her.
She let out a deep sigh inwardly.
“Don’t panic… Just let them be… If they attack, you fight to protect yourself.” Tammy blurted out all of a sudden.
Right there and then, she was truly amazed by Tamika’s composed and calm expression. However, she also knew that it was already her normal reaction and that she could feel the rising tension around them.
All that she could do right at that moment is to let out a curse inside her head.
Then, a freaking eerie and loud howl resonated in the entire place.
If not for Tammy’s glare she would have felt so scared.
Tammy’s glare at creepier anyway.
However, she knew what that meant ‘Your enemy could feel your fear. It feeds them. So, don’t let them eat you.’
Those were her words.
Fear.
The enemies could feel that, and it could ignite their motivation and will to kill you. And it was the least of the things that she wanted right now.
Leila maintained a straight face as she went towards Tammy.
“I know that you already know what direction to go. But as much as possible, don’t go far from me, Leila.” She whispered calmly as she continued picking some medicinal plants around, as if nothing dangerous was about to happen.
Leila nodded her head in agreement.
“Fine…” She whispered into thin air and crossed her arms in front of her chest.
It was somewhat her freaking defense mechanism but it was more of trying to calm her nerves.
“Just think of it as your initiation, Leila…” Silver’s voice resonated inside her mind.
That made her a bit calmer.
“You have to do this. You have to take them down. That could be your achievement and initial test.” Silver continued seriously causing her to nod her head in agreement.
She was right.
If she couldn’t take these rogues down she knew that she didn’t improve one bit. She had to make sure to take them down.
She felt the heavy atmosphere around.
The tension was getting thicker and heavier around them.
And so were the fog that was also surrounding them. If she was the old Leila, she would have freaked out. But she had this confidence and will now. She had to surpass this.
She was already a werewolf.
And she had to face this fight.
Leila knew that she couldn’t delay this any longer.
Besides, isn’t this what she wanted?
She couldn’t stay on her comfort zone anymore.
The last time she did, she was betrayed and hurt.
She couldn’t afford to lose this battle even if this was only a battle for herself.
‘This is really a battle, Leila… You can get killed by the rogues…’ A part of her mind reminded her.
Damn it!
She let out a loud curse inside her head.
It was as if reality had finally hit her.
Yes.
This is not a game anymore. She wasn’t just practicing. This is reality.
A wound could be fatal and worst could lead her death right there and then.
So, she shouldn’t take this lightly.
She took a deep breath as she prepared for battle.
Silver was ready to take over and she knew she could be with her, and they could become as one.
Another loud growl resonated into the dark woods as Tammy nodded at her.
In just a snap, three rogues jumped towards them all of a sudden.
Leila jumped and shifted flawlessly into a silver white furred wolf. While Tamika, on the other hand, shifted into a jet black furred wolf.
She could feel the sudden tension into the air then, five more rogues appeared near them from the darkness.
They suddenly caught off guard but it was just for a shirt while.
The most massive of them let out an excited howl. It was as if they have found a priceless and precious enemy through them.
Who wouldn’t think of that?
A legendary silver wolf and a half werewolf, half witch.
It was a perfect opportunity to take them down especially that they possess something so invaluable in them.
They surrounded them as they waited for the right time to move for an attack. They tried lurking around them as the other rogues were hiding in the dark.
Tammy and Leila knew that they were outnumbered but she should focus and make sure to take them down.
She would trust herself and Tamika. She knew that they possess strength and enhanced senses better that these rogues.
Just then, they thought they could intimidate the rogues who were trying to catch them the three tried to attack them. However, their wolves were faster. In just a blink of an eye, they wounded the enemies with their sharp fangs and poisonous claws leaving them in their whimpering state.
They could feel fear suddenly surrounded the rogues around them.
Well, she couldn’t blame them.
They were faster and stronger than them.
She couldn’t possess the legendary silver wolf when she could only do something so ordinary. And Tammy, she knew that there was more to her than meets the eye.
And when the next two desperate wolves tried to attack them, they instantly clawed their faces causing them their eyes to get blinded.
She could smell the scent of blood everywhere.
And that instilled fear to the other rogues around them.
The wounded rogues tried to get away from them and they simply let them be.
Besides, it was as if they were there to kill.
Like what Tamika said, they only have to protect themselves.
However, the moment they shifted back to their human form a conceal presence suddenly tried to attack her.
“Leila!” Tammy called her warningly causing her to be able to dodge an attack.
But then, one more rogue hiding from darkness suddenly appeared and almost hit her if not for someone who blocked the rogue.
Her eyes widened in shock as she smells that familiar scent near her.
For a moment, she thought everything stayed still.
Her mind stayed blank as she looked at the familiar wolf shifted into its human form.
Tamika shifted and killed the two rogues while she was dumbfounded.
She swallowed the lump in her throat as she felt the time freeze as her dark brown eyes met those deep ocean blue orbs.
“H-Hunter…”
