Chapter 69
Truth
***
The darkness of the depths of the woods wouldn’t be a hindrance for Hunter and his comrades in finding Leila.
Owls started to hoot echoing the entire forest, making it creepier, but no one even shivered at the thought of it.
Every single one of them knew what they came into.
Danger might come anytime especially at this kind of place.
And every single one of them were ready for anything even for a sudden battle that could resurface anytime.
But even amidst everything, Hunter’s mind was still in chaos as he, Hector, and some hunters and sentinel wolves were looking for Leila as they were still trying to find Leila in the middle of the dark forest where he last saw her.
He couldn’t believe what he had just heard from his parents a while ago. And he was in between getting at ease and worry as memories of what they talked about, back in the Black Mansion played inside his mind.
*** Flashback…
“And we are also telling the truth, Son…” Hera Black, his mother, said dangerously causing him to swallow the lump in his throat.
It came from her mother a bit creepier this time. It was something that he wasn’t expecting to happen. He surely knew that tone of hers.
She was not lying and she never would be.
Silence filled the air as the matriarch of the house stood up without breaking any eye contact with him.
And it was something that he couldn’t simply ignore or even expecting to.
Hera let out a deep sigh.
“How can we forget about him?” His mother stated seriously before taking a deep breath.
However, Hudson, eyed his wife.
“Hera…” It was a meaningful word not just plainly calling his wife for something.
And they all knew that.
But Hera simply raised her right hand in the air as if stopping her husband with any word that he was trying to tell her.
Then, she turned to him looking so stoically, making the alpha of the pack just let out a deep sigh.
Of course, it wasn’t new to them already.
In the pack, Alpha Hudson’s words and decisions wouldn’t be broken but not inside the Black Mansion. Hera would always have a say about something. They always made sure to weigh things down or Alpha Hudson would simply let his wife have her way right now… Well, like he always does.
However, it wasn’t time for thinking those things now.
All that they wanted right now, was to know the truth.
“Lindon Mercado… He is the family’s most trusted and loyal servant of your grandfather and his father your great grandfather.” Hera revealed seriously causing everyone’s jaw to drop.
Hunter stared at his mother as if he was trying to find truth behind her words.
“What the hell?! Is that true?!” It was Hector, who uttered the question and expression that everyone had to ask.
Alpha Hudson and Hera let out a deep sigh.
“The Mercado are the destined to be servant omegas of our clan. They are loyal and trustworthy. And it is something that’s proven and tested already.” Alpha Hudson stated coldly as he walked towards the couch and sat there.
Hera nodded her head as if she also agreed to her husband.
“But that night… That tragic night… Lindon is already the descendant of the Mercado’s who destined to ask for a separation between the pack. He didn’t want his daughter to inherit being the servant omega and it isn’t because he is not loyal or trustworthy enough. He simply wants to be… a family man. Something that his still young daughter wants him to be.” Hera explained thoroughly.
He licked his lower lip as he felt his heart being hammered into pieces.
Everything that he discovered right now was just… totally outrageous.
He couldn’t believe it but when it was his parents’ version of the story, then, he knew that it might be possible.
“But there is still something that’s missing, Mom…” He said as his voice broke.
He nodded her head in agreement.
“That night, the Triad… They managed to track him down… The most loyal and most trusted servant omega of the pack had fallen… And right now, we have come to a point that Leila… She might have seen her father’s tragic demise and us… in the woods… together… She might have jump into conclusion.” Hera added honestly.
Hunter pursed his lips together as if he was weighing down every single detail that he heard.
“We are not asking you to believe us but it’s the truth. We can’t kill Lindon. You can even ask your grandfather about that…” Hudson finally stated causing everyone to fell into silence.
Hunter let out a deep sigh.
He knew that his parents couldn’t tell a lie not to this kind of situation.
But there was one thing that he couldn’t ignore and it’s the fact that whether Leila could accept that version of truth or not.
Especially when it comes to her father.
“Right now, there is still something that you have to do… And from the looks of it the Triad might already be after Leila… And you know what I mean.” Hera brought the topic out out of the blue.
Their mouth slightly dropped wide open and it was because of a certain fact that his mother is right.
“Hector…” Hudson’s cold and authoritative voice called his brother.
“Go and be with Hunter. Call some sentinel wolves and hunters. Help him in finding Leila.” He added in pure sincerity and seriousness causing him to simply swallow hard.
Hector immediately nodded his head in agreement.
“Yes, Dad…” He replied steadfastly before looking at him.
This time, they knew that the unclear air between them had finally lifted away.
Well, it should be anyway.
He understood Hector. He always stuck to their parents and he wouldn’t let them feel so disrespected. And he understood that. However, right now, he knew that he wasn’t in his right mind to think clearly.
*** End of Flashback…
Hunter was panting so hard as he let out a loud growl, hoping that it could reach Leila while uttering a simple prayer to the moon goddess inside his head.
‘Please… Please… our dearest moon goddess… Please help us… Let Leila be safe… Please…’
