Chapter 61
Parents
***
Leila was inside her room as she prepared herself for Hunter’s parents will be arriving very soon. She had to take a break after cooking before preparing herself.
Of course, she didn’t want to smell like the dishes she cooked in front of her future in-laws.
She smiled as she felt contented with all of the dishes she prepared a while ago.
Leila was just hoping that it would suit their taste and impress them. She had put not only her heart into it but also her soul. So, she was silently praying that this night would turn out fine.
For her loving Hunter.
She giggled at her own thought.
Well, she would just think something so outrageous just to prevent herself from thinking negatively. There were still a lot of what-ifs running into her mind. Although Myrtle and Hunter assured her already with everything.
They were always telling her that everything will be fine she just couldn’t stay still, not until she found it out herself. She didn’t want to simply take everything for granted or stay still knowing that she will do just fine. She didn’t want to make mistake not for Hunter.
Because she knew that this is also important to him.
This night was important to both of them.
Especially that she knew how much Hunter suffered in the past.
She didn’t want to burden him just in case, his parents wouldn’t approve their relationship. She knew what he had been through especially when pressure comes in when it comes to his parents.
Even though Hunter wouldn’t say it she knew that it would truly make him happy if his parents agreed on them.
That made her a bit ecstatic.
At the same time, she was just filled with so much worry.
There were a lot of what-ifs running in her mind.
She had to make sure that she surpassed his parents’ expectations if there was.
She wanted to look at her best and even give them her best impression.
Leila heaved a deep sigh then, she smiled at herself in front of the vanity mirror after combing her black long wavy hair.
She knew that she had to calm herself. She knew that cramming like this won’t do her any good.
“You already know that, but you are still doing it…” Silver commented inwardly causing her growl in irritation.
But it was a bit effective because she slowly felt a bit composed and calmer now.
“See? That’s better. You look great, Leila. Have more confidence in yourself.” Silver’s words made her heart a bit lighter.
Then, she smiled genuinely.
“Thank you, Silver…” She uttered and looked at herself in the mirror.
She could feel Silver simply gave her a smile inside her. She felt lighter and more unruffled.
Sometimes, all she really had to hear was something that would assure her someone inside her… And she couldn’t be grateful to Silver because of that.
She was grateful that she was always there for her.
Leila let out another deep sigh.
She was just waiting for Hunter or any servant omega to fetch her or even told her that Hunter was waiting for her in the receiving area.
Even though, she was silently praying that it was Hunter who would go to her room and fetch her. She didn’t want to burden him or even demand at him.
Not at this time.
She was ready although she took her time preparing herself. She had to look her best tonight.
Leila looked at her off shoulder midnight blue dress that hugged her body perfectly. Her dress fell flawlessly just above her knees. There were some crystals on the dress on the chest part and she loved it. The dress looked perfect to her.
And knowing that Hunter prepared it for her made that dress more special to her. She paired it with her midnight blue three-inched T-strap stilettoes.
Leila felt that she had to bear those killer heels of hers well, even just for tonight. It wasn’t that enduring when it was for the love of her life.
She parted her hair into half. The upper part was braided while she simply let the lower part fall. She let some strands of her hair fell at the side of her face.
Leila wore a choker type pearl necklace paired with pearl bracelet, ring, and drop styled earring. She simply put powder in her face and a lip balm. She didn’t want to overdo her make up. She wanted to look as natural as possible and she thought that she had attained her goal tonight.
She checked herself for the last time, before she heard a soft knock in her door. She felt her heart beat escalated. She was feeling so nervous and excited at the same time. Her hands were slightly trembling.
Leila looked at herself for the last time before she took a deep breath and finally went to her door.
The moment, she opened her door her breathing hitched as she unexpectedly saw Hunter standing in front of her. He looked dashing at his midnight blue long sleeve shirt.
Leila couldn’t help but to blush especially when she realized that they looked like they have a couple matching outfit, just for the night.
It was just so obvious that it would be too hard to keep it all secretly. It seemed like she has to prepare herself for Myrtle and Hector’s teasing again. But more to it was the fact that his parents might disapprove their relationship.
However, when Hunter held her hands and stared at her with his eyes sparkling with both joy and love, Leila couldn’t stop herself from selfishly thinking about them, only them.
For a while, she let the negative thoughts be swirled away from her mind. For the first time, she let herself fall from the trap of love… for Hunter. She let her worries flew away from her.
She didn’t want to think anything anymore.
All that she wanted right now is to seize the moment their moment together.
“You look so gorgeous…” Hunter praised her like she was the most beautiful woman he had laid his eyes on.
And her cheeks automatically flushed as a genuine smile crept into her lips.
“And you look dashing yourself…” She returned the praise to him making his smile widened as he looked at her from head to toe.
They both giggled at their own praises and Hunter planted a soft kiss on her forehead.
“Let’s go… I can’t wait to finally introduce you to my parents and have us some alone time.” He whispered seductively causing her cheeks to turn into bright red.
Hunter chuckled at her pinkish cheeks as she rolled her eyes at him to hide her embarrassment. Even though she knew that Hunter had already seen through her.
She clung at his arms as he playfully offered it for her. She smiled at him gracefully as they walked towards the living area.
Leila was totally nervous.
She didn’t want to fail in anything especially not to this.
Then, she felt a bit lonely because she suddenly thought of her parents. She felt like she also wanted them to meet Hunter.
However, that might be impossible already.
Her father died when she was still young.
And her mother and Darcel…
She mentally shrugged her shoulders as she realized that she had already made up her mind and bring her to their house soon.
Leila mentally smiled at her own thoughts as excitement filled her heart, either.
However, this time, she had to get herself together. She mentally shook her head and bring herself back from her drifting reverie.
She didn’t want to feel that kind of nostalgia or even the thrilling emotions lingering inside her as she pictured her mother’s expression once she met Hunter.
This time, she needed her presence of mind in this situation in meeting Hunter’s parents.
She took an inaudible deep breath and smiled shyly when she saw Myrtle and Hector walking towards the living room, too.
“You both look so gorgeous…” Myrtle stated smilingly as her eyes sparkled while looking at them.
She blushed automatically because of her kind words.
“You both look great, too.” She replied back causing Hector pout a little.
Leila and Hunter couldn’t stop themselves from raising a brow because of his expression.
“Good thing you said that. See, Honey, you look so beautiful. You don’t look bloated. You are just pregnant.” Hector said like he was trying to woo his moody wife again.
Hunter and Leila stifled their smiles as they both bit their lower lips.
It seemed like Hector was trying his best to make amends at his wife again.
And they couldn’t believe that they were witnessing this childish Hector tonight… right in front of them.
However, it seemed like that wouldn’t work on Myrtle because the latter simply rolled her eyes at him.
“Stop those not cute pouts, Hector. It is not working. In fact, you look like a duck. I don’t want my child to look like a duck.” She said with emphasis causing Hector to swallow hard.
Leila and Hunter wanted to let out a loud and hearty laugh but they didn’t want Myrtle to get annoyed at them, too.
So, they have to stifle it all to themselves and laughed inaudibly.
However, they couldn’t stop themselves from smiling sheepishly at Hector who was now looking at them darkly.
“Let’s go, you two. Leave that childish man here.” She firmly stated causing poor Hector to grunt inaudibly in both annoyance and impatience.
However, Myrtle ignored him and walked towards the living area which they immediately followed.
Of course, they didn’t want to get the pregnant woman’s bad side tonight.
They didn’t want to end up like Hector.
She couldn’t stop herself from smiling at that thought.
Leila and Hunter gave each other a smiling glance before they walked hand in hand behind Myrtle.
Even though she was so nervous, the small confrontation between Hector and Myrtle a while ago calmed her a bit.
“Oh, there they are… I will just say Hi first…” Myrtle stated excitedly as she walked towards the couple, who were in the middle of the crowd there.
She saw Elder Howard with them.
They seemed to be enjoying themselves together with the other elders, who were present in the crowd.
Leila smiled shyly as Hunter looked at her.
He gently pressed her hands to assure her. That made her heart flutter and slightly made her at ease.
“Don’t be nervous.” He assured her with his own words and she nodded smilingly.
Hunter really amazed her.
He was so gentleman and would never fail to make sure that she was alright.
With that thought in mind, she felt like she fell for him a bit more and… deeper.
Then, they walked towards them.
To be honest, at a distance, Hunter’s parents seemed to be too young to look at. They truly look good together and they looked like Hunter and Hector.
She bet the man with deep blue ocean blue eyes, slightly tanned, and with dark brown hair was Hudson, Black, Hector and Hunter’s father. Beside him is a gorgeous woman with fair and hourglass body with light brown eyes and curly hair. That maybe was Hera Black, Hector and Hunter’s mother.
Her lips were filled with a shy smile.
However, as she took a step towards the couple, her smile slowly faded as she blinked her eyes.
“Leila! Hunter! Come here!” Myrtle called them.
But she swallowed hard as she felt Silver at bay. She was growling inside her as her head slowly throbbing in pain.
‘What the heck is happening?!’ Leila thought inside her head.
Her heart was beating so fast inside her chest as her eyes didn’t leave the couple, who were eyeing her and Hunter with a small smile on their faces.
‘They… They l-looked so familiar…’ She mentally thought as she tried her best to keep her smile as they stopped in front of them.
‘They looked like Hunter and Hector… That might be it…’ Her mind commented inwardly.
“Dad, Mom… This is Leila Mercado… My girlfriend.” Hunter finally introduced her.
Mr. Hudson and Mrs. Hera Black smiled at her sweetly then, they looked at their son teasingly.
Hunter simply licked his lips as he looked at her.
“Finally… You looked great, Leila…” Hera, Hunter’s mother, was the one who broke the silence and greeted her using her friendly tone of voice.
She swallowed the lump in her throat as she gave her a forced smile.
“H-Hi… Mr. and Mrs. Black, it is a great pleasure to finally meet you.” Leila greeted them nervously even though her head is throbbing terribly.
But Mrs. Black chuckled.
“Oh, dear, skip the formalities, just call me Aunt Hera and here, my husband, Uncle Hudson, right dear?” She smilingly stated causing her husband to smile at her.
Leila’s lips slightly gaped as she stared at them, shocked.
Something stirred inside her throbbing head as she held it with her both hands.
“Leila… W-What… Are you o-okay?” Hunter’s worried voice was that last thing she heard before she finally collapsed.
