Chapter 60
Return The Favor
***
“That is good to go, Leila.” Myrtle commented as she asked her to taste her own version of beef carpaccio with pickled pear and crunchy nuts.
Leila was just so agitated.
Myrtle nodded her head and smiled sweetly at her.
“This is just so great. I love it. I am sure that Hunter and Hector’s parents would love this.” She assured her with all honesty.
Leila felt a bit relieve as she looked at the dishes she prepared.
Cooking wasn’t her forte, but living with the Blacks made her practice her cooking skills.
At the kitchen, everything is ready.
Poterhouse steak with rosemary and garlic sauce, beef short rib bourguignon, and the beef carpaccio that she just cooked. Beef is one of the main ingredient dishes which was Hunter’s father’s favorite according to Myrtle.
On the other hand, she cooked chicken and broccoli, apple cider glazed chicken, and chicken parm meatball skillet since Hunter’s mother’s favorite were chicken dishes.
Yes.
She truly prepared extra mile for this day.
It is the day when Hunter’s parents will arrived.
And of course, the dessert is also prepared already, some were apple inspired desserts because thanks to Myrtle, she told her that it was Hera Black, Hunter’s mother’s favorite.
So, she also had to prepare firsthand her no bake caramel apple pie delight and easy apple crumble pudding.
Leila sighed inwardly as she felt contented with what she had prepared. She wanted to impress Hunter’s parents.
Well, Myrtle told her that they weren’t hard to please. And so, they were also so supportive and sweet. She assured that that she could get along with them.
But Leila wouldn’t take it all easy as that. She wanted to exert extra effort for them. She wanted to give them a good impression of Hunter. She wanted them to like her of course.
That’s her main goal for that day.
And she was aiming for that to come true.
However, no matter how much she already tried her very best, she was still nervous as hell.
“Hey… Don’t be too hard on yourself. Just chill, Leila… This wasn’t like you. Be calm, they won’t bite.” She joked lightly making sure to ease her nervousness.
Hunter had assured her that, too.
But she didn’t know… She just couldn’t settle not until this was all done.
She let out a deep sigh and tried to maintain her cool. She didn’t want to stress out Myrtle so, she smiled at her widely.
“Of course… At least I have done my part. I am just hoping that they would love and appreciate it.” She replied and looked at her softly.
Myrtle nodded her head in agreement.
“Of course. I know they would.” She agreed with her, and they smiled at each other.
Just yesterday, Hunter’s parents sent them a message that they will be coming home already. They were very surprised. They thought that they would simply stay a few more days in various allied packs.
The two brothers seemed to be too busy either. After talking to Hunter yesterday which made her blush upon thinking about it he went to Hector to talk about something again.
Then, the two went missing in action.
When she asked Myrtle about it all that Hector told her was they have to go to check on the sentinel wolves and hunters again.
It seemed like they had been there a few times already. And when she asked Myrtle about it…
*** Flashback…
“Maybe Hector is just too pressured for taking over the pack, Leila. And I am grateful to Hunter because he is trying to support him. It seems like the two of them are back to normal brothers working hand in hand for the pack.” Myrtle explained to her with a small smile on her lips.
It was as if this was something that she was grateful for.
And Leila realized that it might all be true.
That the two of them Hector and Hunter were truly a great pair. One who leads, and the other who supports. Something that would bright accordingly. And she knew that their roles in the pack were both important.
Soon, she understood that she had to step aside for the meantime and focus on her own growth. Especially that Silver was just a bit more difficult to handle. Most of the time, she just wanted to take over her and rule over her.
And Myrtle told her that it wouldn’t be good. That she shouldn’t let her inner wolf to take over her or else she might lose her humanity.
It was a bit scary, but she told Silver about it. And now, she had to make sure to be stronger so she could handle Silver’s strength when she had to shift.
Silver was trying to stop her animalistic side, too.
But of course, she was her inner wolf who would always want her freedom when she shifts, so it was really so hard for her. Especially when Silver was becoming a bit stubborn.
*** End of Flashback…
Leila let out a deep sigh.
Then, she looked at the window her eyes went to the huge tree just across the mansion. She saw Hunter and Hector talking again under the tree.
“Look, they are here already. Do you think their parents will be arriving soon?” Leila inquired of Myrtle, who went to her side to take a good look of what she was talking about.
Myrtle shrugged her shoulders.
“I think they were still talking about it. Perhaps, they will arrive soon. That’s why those two are here already.” She replied and smiled at her.
Then, when she turned back and looked at Hunter, she met his eyes. And the mischievous man winked at her!
Damn it!
Her face flushed like a red apple, while Myrtle chuckled beside her.
“Your lover boy just wouldn’t let this day pass without making you blush.” She commented causing her face to turned redder.
She giggled at that.
“Then, let’s see how he will react with this…” Leila murmured and waited for Hunter to look back at her again.
And when he did…
She gave him a flying kiss and bit her lower lip causing Hunter’s face to turn bright red.
Leila and Myrtle laughed out loud as Hector looked at their side with his forehead creased. Then, he shook his head and pouted like a kid.
“It seems like your man want you to give him a flying kiss, too.” Leila teased Myrtle.
But the latter just rolled her eyes making her chuckle inaudibly.
“Na-ah! I won’t give him that. He didn’t give me some cherries yesterday.” She said, a bit irritated and with his left brow shot upwards.
She even crossed her arms in front of her chest making her expression a bit darker.
Leila shook her head.
It seemed like the two were having a lovey dovey quarrel right now.
And she didn’t want to intervene in it. Especially that Myrtle is pregnant. Good luck to Hector for her moody battles with her.
She smiled at that thought.
However, her smile grew when she looked at Hunter, who seemed to be dazed while Hector was a bit annoyed already.
Well, that’s for being so sweet.
Of course, she had to return the favor.
