Chapter 56
Danger
***
“This is getting so serious.” Hector commented critically as he looked at Hunter, who seemed to be thinking the same thing as him.
Right after they had eaten their sumptuous dinner a while ago with Myrtle and Leila, they have gone towards Elder Howard to talk about the ominous situation happening near their border.
It was getting out of hand and they have to take a step.
They couldn’t talk about it in front of the two women especially that they knew it would certainly make them worry. And they don’t want that to happen. They wanted them to always be at ease.
However, because of what was happening now, they both think that it would be impossible to keep this a secret. They have to make sure to find a solution to this. They didn’t want anything to escalate but how?
They don’t even know who the heck is behind this.
The hunters as well as the sentinel wolves were doubled just to find out what the hell was happening. But they couldn’t find anything not even a damned clue!
Hunter let out a deep sigh.
It seemed like they were dealing with some high-profile group here whoever they were.
“Henry didn’t come back yet?” Hector inquired curiously.
Hunter shook his head as he stared blankly on the wall. He was thinking deeply right at that moment. He had asked Henry to investigate it, and it seemed like he had already found something since he hadn’t arrived yet.
Well, he was hoping so.
Elder Howard was staring at them silently. However, his expression was dark and unreadable. It seemed like it was making him so concerned, too. Especially since he was already talking about Henry, his butler and right-hand beta.
They all knew that Henry is a capable and reliable beta.
“Negative. I didn’t want to send a letter to him. I keep this a secret for him to be able to move discreetly. I don’t want to ruin his plan. You know how he moves, right?” He replied darkly.
Elder Howard suddenly cleared his throat causing the two to look at him.
“Did you investigate the rogues? How about the other packs? Or even the one that your parents had been looking for?” He asked stoically one question after the other.
This time, it dawned on them the significance of this situation.
Elder Howard was also a bit worried about the growing crime near the border.
Who wouldn’t when there were unrecognizable bodies discovered near the border the other day. They were trying to locate who did those, but no one from the hunters nor the sentinel wolves knew about anything.
It was as if everything were just too discreet for them not to be able to track it down.
“We investigate about the rogues already. They can’t even stick their noses to our pack. About the other packs, our parents have taken care of it already. At least that’s what I have heard. We can confirm this once I receive their next message. The group that they were looking for… Well, we haven’t heard of them until the last time.” Hunter explained elaborately.
Hector, on the other hand, nodded his head in agreement.
“And your parents? When will they arrive? They have to come here as soon as possible.” Elder Howard stated coldly.
Hector let out a deep sigh.
It seemed like he was also torn between asking their parents back to the pack. They couldn’t rely on the fact that they were just receiving messages from them. They have to discuss this matter urgently.
“They will soon arrive. At least that is what I have heard from them.” Hector replied swiftly as he sent a message to their parents the other day.
They all fell into silence.
As if everyone was thinking about the same thing how to solve this problem.
“For the meantime, there is no other way for now but to make sure to implement strictly in guarding the borders. We don’t want the enemies to implicate something from us. I knew that it might be the reason why they are not killing anyone from the pack yet. They want something.” Elder Howard stated seriously breaking the silence between all of them.
That is a distinct possibility.
They had taken it into account already, but they weren’t sure.
“They knew us. They knew that we are the Moon Howlers Pack, one of the most influential and powerful packs in this land. So, there was something more to it than meeting the eye. You should be careful.” Elder Howard stated darkly.
This time, it was a bit clearer to them. This is such a trivial matter. And it might have to do with the pack, too.
Elder Howard is right.
They must be vigilant in dealing with this. They might want something from them whoever they are.
But what could it be?
“Looks like the someone wants to mess things up in our pack, huh?” Hector sarcastically commented.
However, there was a hint of danger laced in his voice as he clenched his jaw after saying those words.
“That is-”
Elder Howard’s words were cut when a loud knocking from his door interjected him.
Their forehead creased when they saw the leader of the hunters looking so worried and shocked at the same time.
“E-Elder H-Howard… M-Master Hector… M-Master Hunter…” He called them politely one by one.
Then, he swallowed hard.
“Speak at once. Did something happen?” Elder Howard explained darkly.
The hunter’s lips slightly trembled.
“W-We found bodies…” He spoke, terrified, “this time, i-it’s already in our t-territory.” He added.
Their jaws instantly clenched as their hands curled into balled fists.
“F*ck it!” Hector whispered under his breath.
Hunter murmured the same thing.
“You have to go and investigate.” Elder Howard said in an instant as he pursed his lips tightly.
It seemed like the news made him so mad, too.
Hunter and Hector nodded their heads in agreement.
This time, this is a different matter already. And he had to send a message to his butler. He needed progress. He needed his report as soon as possible.
Because whatever is happening now, it was just too complicated and way too dangerous especially since it was already in their territory.
“We have to make sure to catch who is behind this. I will make sure to make them pay for getting into our pack. It seemed like they were already declaring war on us. F*ck them!” Hector murmured in between his gritting teeth with his tone of voice livid and unforgiving.
Right.
They can’t let this one pass without anyone paying for it.
Someone dared cross their pack already by doing this to their territory.
