Chapter 55
Flowers
***
On the Moon Howlers Pack community, Leila laughed as she found herself enjoying Myrtle’s company who ignored his husband’s offer to come with him at his office.
Hector is still the acting Alpha of the pack, and he was just so busy.
“I will just be bored. Just go on… I will stay here.” Myrtle stubbornly retorted back making her giggle silently.
Hector couldn’t do anything but scratch his head and walked away with his sulked face.
It was a good thing for her though but not as good for Hector. And it was just so funny as she stared at the two bicker a bit a while ago.
Well, it was better for her though especially that Hunter is just so busy, too. He told her that he still has to talk to Butler Henry. And since she was in the mood, she let him do his thing first.
Besides, she was so attentive to Myrtle’s stories. It was about Hunter. And she was just so interested in hearing all of it.
“Hunter… He is really so caring. Even though he is cold and distant always wearing a tough shell in the outside, he is such a soft-hearted person in the inside.” Myrtle commented smilingly.
Leila smiled at her gently.
Because that is true. She couldn’t agree more. It was the same Hunter that she knew.
“Yeah… Not to mention, cranky most of the times but he still cares.” She simply added causing Myrtle to smile at her.
She even nodded her head as if she totally agreed with her remarks.
“But then, after everything… I think his decision of going in the Sacred Village has done him so great…” There was a hint of playfulness in her voice now.
Especially when Myrtle was looking at her with her eyes turning into thin slits.
Her cheeks flushed turning it into bright red.
Then, Myrtle held her hands and smiled at her genuinely.
“To be honest, I am really grateful to you, Leila. I know that I am always telling you this, but I still want to tell you again. Hunter is blessed to have you now. You made him out of his shell… And now, he is becoming such a better man because of you.” Myrtle said emotionally.
Leila stared at her seriously.
“I know that I have created a larger rift between him and Hector. I know that it isn’t a good thing given that I knew all along that they already have gap to each other because of their parents and all…” She stated with her voice slightly shaking.
Leila bit her lower lip as she felt pain reflecting her voice.
She wanted Myrtle to stop. She wanted to assure her that it wasn’t true, but they both knew that it is already the painful truth for everyone. And it is something that they have to deal with. It is something that they have to acknowledge and close to be able to move forward.
“But I still have done it… And when Hunter decided to go away… Both Hector and I felt so guilty.” Myrtle continued emotionally.
Leila let out a deep breath and gave her a small smile.
Then, she slightly pressed her hands to get her attention.
“You know what… I think following what your heart is telling you at that time is a better thing to do. Something when we love, we become a bit… you know… selfish.” She gently commented.
Then, she gave her a knowing smile as she shrugged her shoulders.
“But isn’t it more selfish if we lead on a person who loves us. We knew we could hurt that person more if we still keep that secret within ourselves especially when we already knew all along that he or she has feelings for us. It is better to say the painful truth than mask it with fake happiness and sweet lies. In the end, it will just hurt the person more.” Leila explained sincerely causing Myrtle to smile at her with a lone tear escape from her eyes.
Leila looked at her with her wide eyes.
“Oh, my gosh… D-Did I… Did I offend you or something?” She asked, shocked and worried at the same time.
But Myrtle instantly shook her head with a smile reflected on her face.
“I… I just realize something…” She stated as she bit her lower lip.
Then, she gave her a bright smile.
“You are such a wonderful woman, Leila. Thank you for being part of this pack.” Myrtle said smilingly.
Leila felt her heart melt because of her words.
“Of course. She is not just a wonderful woman but a great and lovely woman… My woman…” Hunter’s voice interjected their conversation all of a sudden.
They both smiled as they looked at him, who seemed to just arrive hearing that part of their conversation.
Then, Myrtle and Leila looked at each other and let out a bark of laughter causing Hunter to look at them with his left brow shot upwards. It was as if he couldn’t stop looking at them weirdly.
“Anyway… I have to apologize, Myrtle, but I have to get this gorgeous lady right now. I have to spend time with her especially that I am still free.” There was a hint of guilt as he said those words.
Then, he smiled at her and winked causing her to roll her eyes heavenwards with a sweet smile pasted on her lips.
Leila felt like she was floating in bliss.
Hunter could really be such a sweet guy if he wanted to.
“Fine… Go on… I will just go to Hector, too. I don’t want him getting cranky as ever because I am not there.” Myrtle told them as she finally stood up.
And without any more words to say, she left the house and went towards where Hector was.
Hunter, on the other hand, held her hand and pulled her somewhere.
“Mr. Black… Where do you think are you taking me?” She playfully inquired.
But she smiled widely when he stopped at the familiar bench where Hunter got a bouquet of red roses which he handed her smilingly.
“I am sorry about what happened last night.” He sincerely apologized with his smile laced with guilt and hope.
Leila let out a deep sigh and got the flowers from his hand.
“To be honest… I am really disappointed…” She started causing Hunter’s smile to fade.
Then, she smiled and bumped into him a bit.
“But I realize that I have to understand more. And you know what, I realize that my love for you is deeper than my disappointment.” Leila admitted smilingly causing Hunter to smile at her and pulled her closer to him for a tight hug.
“Damn! I am still wondering how blessed I am to have you.” He whispered expressively.
Leila smiled wider and wrapped her small arms around him.
She felt his embrace tighten a bit more.
“Of course you are blessed to have me. I am also blessed to have you, you know…” She said joyously.
Then, she broke their embrace, and she glared at him playfully as she crossed her arms in front of her chest.
“Just don’t say a promise that you can’t fulfill, Mr. Black.” She said half-serious.
Hunter let out a deep breath and nodded his head in agreement.
“Yes. This is certainly a promise that I will never ever break.” Hunter stated seriously before pulling her into a tight hug for the second time.
She smiled, reassured as she felt Hunter gently kiss her head.
“I love you so much, Leila.” He confessed sincerely.
And she thought that it was the most reassuring words that could back up his promise.
Because, if you love a person, you have to understand each other better. You should communicate and be open to adjustments. You have to compromise for the betterment of your relationship.
And those were something that she learned all through the way with Hunter.
“And I love you, too.” She whispered answering him back.
