Hunter was having a great time with Leila.
And he was planning to build a house for them and for their future already. Especially that Myrtle and Hector were always ruining their moment.
However, seeing Leila’s smiles, he just couldn’t stop himself from being happy and contented, too.
Besides, it might not be a good idea to propose to her.
Yes.
He was already thinking about it.
But for what was happening right now, maybe he still needed to focus on their responsibility for the pack. Maybe when their parents arrived, he could plan for it already.
Besides, they were still investigating something. He couldn’t let Leila by herself. Even Myrtle. It was a good thing that they have together. And Myrtle was training her, too when he wasn’t around.
It would be better for her. He had no time right now especially about what had Hector told him a while ago.
“What do you mean that there are something going near the border?” He asked seriously as Hector looked at him.
Then, he let out a deep sigh.
Worry was etched into his face, and he knew that it was a serious matter.
“Stop that kind of expression. They are watching us.” Hunter commented at his brother causing the latter to let out a deep sigh and maintained his straight and serious face.
Of course, he had to if they didn’t want Myrtle and Leila get worried, too.
They couldn’t go away since they said that it wasn’t that serious and important. So, they have to stay near them. Near but enough for them to talk privately.
“There are some dead bodies found in the border. I have to make sure that the sentinel wolves as well as the hunters won’t spread the news to the pack. That would create deep worry for everyone.” Hector explained seriously that made him gritted his teeth.
He clenched his hands into balled fists as he felt his inner wolf at bay.
“For now, they might not. But if this continues, they would be bothered for the safety of everyone. We need to prepare and investigate this thoroughly.” Hector continued his words coldly.
He let out a deep sigh.
This time, he couldn’t help but to agree because that was the best way… for now.
“I will ask Butler Henry to spy for the meantime. We can’t let go there together and leave the pack. When are they arriving?” Hunter suggested and asked his brother about their parents.
Hector let out a deep sigh.
That only meant one thing.
He didn’t know.
“I don’t know.” He confirmed his guess.
Then, he looked at him his eyes dripping with seriousness.
“But based on my calculations, a few days from now. I am just waiting for their confirmation.” He said a bit problematic.
Because they needed their parents right now.
They have to talk to the elders who were also being too ambiguous right now.
The last time they checked, they were doing something behind their back at the medicinal garden. It seemed like when the dogs were away, the cats will play. They couldn’t simply eradicate them away or their plan would just go back at them.
Especially that they were still using the news about Leila, being a werewolf now because of the ritual, as their weapon towards them.
It was just a good thing that their grandfather had stood up for them.
That settled the issue… Well, for now.
But we all know that it wouldn’t be that long.
However, he wouldn’t simply let them get their way, too and they were some ways to stop them.
They have just to wait for the right time.
“Make sure not to inform everyone in the pack when they arrived. I have prepared the proofs already.” Hunter stated before letting a deep sigh.
There were a lot of things that was happening in the pack already.
And he was just grateful that he had someone who was supporting him already.
Leila was a great motivation for him to be a bit better.
“I will talk to Butler Henry about this.” He assured Hector.
He smiled at him gently which made his left brow shot upwards.
It was not a usual thing for him to see his brother’s gentleness.
Or he was just too proud and in denial for the past few years that he ignored his gentleness?
Hector tapped his shoulders. There was something in his eyes that made his forehead crease in both surprised, curiosity, and confusion.
“I am just happy for you. Thank you for being there. And I thank Leila for bringing back the old you, Hunter.” Hector sincerely stated.
Hunter couldn’t stop but to swallow hard and looked away.
That was the time he realized that he had too hard on himself and to the people around him.
He let out a deep sigh.
“Stop being so soft. That doesn’t suit you.” He simply retorted back since it was just a bit uncomfortable talking to him like this.
However, Hector smiled at him instead.
He was just hoping that this wouldn’t be the last time having him like this.
And he realized that he missed his brother, too.
The pressure and responsibility have given them the gap and made them grew apart.
And it was not a good thing.
This time, they were silently hoping that they could certainly… genuinely patched things up between them.
The closeness and all.

Meanwhile…
In that darkest part of the woods, two men were standing in front of a wounded man.
Around them were the bodies for three more men lying on that muddy place. They were full of blood as their souls already flew away from their bodies.
“P-Please… Spare m-me…” He begged his face full of tears.
Fear was undeniably written in his bluish purple face.
But the man wearing a black hood smirked behind his mask.
It was devious and it made the man in front of him swallow hard.
His aura was telling him already.
That he had no hope left.
“Y-You are a m-monster.” He whispered under his breath before the man behind the masked man swiftly broke his neck.
The cold wind blew as the smell of blood resurfaced in the place.
“Make sure to bring those defiant rogues as gifts to the Moon Howlers Pack.” That was the last thing he stated before walking back to his secluded place.
He was getting impatient already.
This is the time he needed to shake the jar to make sure that his target would come out from it.
With that, he smirked evilly.
